Kate

Middleton,

and

Charlene

Wittstock, it certainly hasn’t missed the non-star factor crowd. Having one gown for your ceremony and another for your reception is a must do. If couture gowns suit your inner fashionista needs, but don’t necessarily fit your wedding budget, consider “renting” your couture designs. There are several boutiques that have lines such as Stella McCartney, Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, and many more available for reasonable prices that won’t break your budget and will leave you looking fabulous on your special day. EVERYONE IN WHITE Traditionally, the bride was the only one supposed to wear white in the wedding party. The “white hot” trend is for the bridesmaids and even the mother of the bride to wear white as well. Recently, we have seen the bridal party of the high profile

weddings

of

Kate

Middleton, Kim Kardashian and Kate Moss walking down the aisle in all white. It gives the wedding a completely different look and allows the chance for details to stand out that normally wouldn’t. Angelique Christina 12

This is going to be a great year for bridal shoes! Brides are always looking for new ways to express

Last year, pleats were everywhere. Bridal gowns

were showing pleating and the bridal shoe industry followed suit. This year, we are seeing even more pleated bridal shoes! Pleating is the perfect way to add visual interest to an otherwise simple shoe. Designer Bridal shoes like the Touch Ups by Benjamin Walk have a ton of pleated styles in a variety of heel heights. Any bride getting married outside may want to consider a wedge as her bridal shoe. Bridal wedges are perfect for outdoor weddings because they will not sink into the grass like heels will. Bridal wedges are also extra sturdy for dancing and are also great for bridesmaids. Your friends will thank you when they can easily walk down a grassy aisle without tripping. My favorite bridal wedges are the Touch Ups Honey, a low wedge dyeable pump with peek-a-boo toe. Wearing bridal shoes that are so uncomfortable you can barely stand (never mind dance) is NOT a trend for the coming year. Brides nowadays want to wear something beautiful, but also comfortable. Last year, flat bridal shoes were extremely popular. This year, manufacturers have gone to great lengths to create bridal shoe flats with looks that are stunning and practical.

Bridal flats are

wonderful for many reasons besides comfort. They are the perfect bridal shoe for a bride who is the same height as her groom. Bridal flats also work well for outdoor/beach weddings since they won't sink into grass or sand. Flat bridal shoes can also be used to change into for the reception. With bridal flats on, you can dance the night away in total comfort! So

whether

it’s

flats

stilettos, crystals or bright blue, be a bold bride, and go for the trendy new!

As for the wedding plans, much of what you choose to do depends on the size of your wedding and your budget. Also, you need to consider whether or not you want to have what’s customarily considered a traditional wedding or something less traditional. Regardless, there are some wedding basics that apply to almost all weddings. We have listed the main components

o Create a mailing list, order invitations, select method of addressing and mailing invitations (i.e. calligrapher, paper company, etc.), and finally… get them in the mail on time! (6-8 weeks before the wedding)

o Register for wedding gifts.

o Follow proper procedures for obtaining marriage license. For instructions, go to www.oklahomacounty.org and click on “Where do I?” then select “Get a Marriage License.”

You will have some flowers at the

ceremony anyway because you will have the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids’ flowers, flower girl pedals, corsages, and boutonnieres. For the reception, follow this rule: less can be more. Go for a minimalist look. Here are two ideas for inexpensive but beautiful centerpieces. 1. For tall arrangements, try this: Use tall, clear-glass vases. Add colored or clear-glass beads to the bottom of the vases. Add 1 grouping of simple, long-stem greenery and 3 or 5 flowering long stems. Going with a minimalist look and staying away from stems that are too pricy will help create elegance that won’t break the bank. 2. For shorter arrangements, try this: Use short, clear-glass bowls filled ¾ full with water. Add
