L E T T E R F R O M T H E S TA F F Well, well, well – we made it to March! Doesn’t it feel a little good to say that? You know that means the warmer weather has to be on the way (fingers crossed)! March has always been one of my favorite months. Maybe because it’s my birthday month, or because everything is sheepishly starting to wake up from winter, or because spring fashion is to die for. Speaking of which, welcome to our popular spring fashion issue! I live for the season’s corals, bright yellows, fun patterns and shades of blue. This month’s spread sums up everything I love about fashion. It’s bright, bold and expressive. Our two gorgeous models, Brittany and Cortney, shined bright in fashions from the beloved Balliets, R Meyers, and Anabelle’s. Spring doesn’t revolve solely around fashion. We also get to bring out the springtime dishes from behind the heavy winter soups (which we still love, don’t get us wrong). This month we had delectable dishes from Park House, located in the Myriad Gardens. I highly recommend it for the tasty food, amazing atmosphere and gorgeous view. Okay, back to fashion: have you ever wondered
what type of designer you would be in the fashion world, where women hold a lot of power? Take our fashionista quiz to find out. (P.S., I got Tory Burch!) I truly love this issue, and I hope you all enjoy it just as much as I have enjoyed putting it together. This issue is full of inspiration, which is a big thing to me. Inspiration drives you, and what inspires you is part of who you are. Over this last year, I have been truly inspired by the people around me, especially my wonderful grandparents, who are three of my biggest supporters. Mema, Papa and Mimi – thank you for your strength, thank you for your encouragement, thank you for being you! I love you.
BE INSPIRED.

Redbud Classic Set for April 11, 12 The annual Redbud Classic will take place April 11 and 12. Having donated more than half a million dollars to local nonprofits in the past 33 years, Redbud Classic has impacted our local community for the better while providing Oklahoma City with a premier family fitness event that grows each year. The Redbud Classic is truly an Oklahoma City tradition, offering the longest-running 5k and 10k events in the city. Redbud focuses on providing a quality event for the participant, ensuring a great experience for each runner, walker and cyclist. The partnerships the Redbud Classic creates with local nonprofits makes it unique. Annually, agencies apply to the Redbud Classic as potential beneficiaries. The Redbud Classic Board of Directors reviews the applications and selects a beneficiary. The selected agency then partners with Redbud throughout the year by providing volunteers, who help make the Redbud Classic a success. All proceeds stay in Oklahoma City. The 2015 beneficiary of the Redbud Classic is the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County. Its mission is to enable and inspire all youths, especially those who need help the most, to reach their full potential as responsible, caring and productive citizens. Begun in 1995 in a small community center building in Memorial Park, 3535 N. Western, the organization now annually serves over 3,000 youths, ages 6 to 18. The Boys and Girls Club helps kids through character and leadership programs, art and technology, academic assistance, sports and nutrition, and positive adult relationships. The 2015 Redbud Classic events are the 5k and 10k runs, the 5k wheelchair event, the two-mile walk and baby stroller derby, and the popular one-mile kids’ fun run. Redbud is also continuing the tradition of cycling events with 10-, 33- and 50-mile bike tours. The cycling events and the kids’ fun run will be held Saturday, April 11, while the running and walking events are scheduled for Sunday, April 12. Don't miss out on #FunAtTheFinish at the very first official race after-party, the Redbud Bash. The Bash will be held at the finish area in Nichols Hills Plaza immediately following the start of the 5k and 10k runs on Sunday, April 12. There will be a variety of food from Oklahoma’s premier food trucks, beverages from COOP Ale Works and other sponsors, free games and activities, as well as live entertainment. Whether you are participating in the run, cheering someone on or just want to enjoy a family-friendly outing, the Bash will have something in store for you! Registration for the weekend events is easy. Participants may register online at redbud.org, in person at the registration office in Nichols Hills Plaza opening April 6, or by downloading a registration form and mailing it in. For complete event details, including start times, course maps and registration information, visit www.redbud.org. 12

You’re the boss, and quite simply, you rule the fashion world. You may be a tad old-fashioned – maybe you don’t like drinking, you wake up at 5 a.m. every morning, and you’ve kept your hair the same way for decades – but hey, that’s how people identify you! You sit front row at every fashion show and you won’t work with just anyone. You demand the best of the best, both in your work and your personal life. New York City is your haven! You take your coffee black with a side of custom Manolo Blahnik heels. You’re it, you’re iconic, you’ve made it!
You’re making a big impact and quickly. You’ve come from nothing and made it into the millions – over $100 million to be exact. Nasty Gal started out as a side hobby on eBay and is now one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world. You were quickly named one of the fastest growing retailers in the country. Girl Power: you’re all about it! You wrote a bestselling book, “#GIRLBOSS.” College isn’t your thing, and that’s okay. You’re edgy, you’re retro, you’re making a name for yourself.

She entered the fashion and modeling industry at the young age of 13, and she later made her debut in the United States market when she signed with Maybelline New York Cosmetics. She has been featured on the covers of a number of magazines, such as Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Cosmopolitan. Modeling is not all this woman powerhouse can do: she also started her own organic skincare product line called KORA Organics. She married actor Orlando Bloom, and they had a son together before they split in 2013.

EATS Two things to take note of upon walking into the Park House: the stunning atmosphere and the delicious smells of the kitchen, which runs full speed ahead. Park House sits on the Myriad Botanical Gardens grounds, so it boasts spectacular views of the Crystal Bridge and adjacent grounds. Its floor-to-ceiling windows give you a 180-degree view of the world outside. Now to the food, because that’s mostly why you’re here, right? It’s not every day that a restaurant or a dish leaves you at a loss for the perfect adjective. Delicious? Sure. Heavenly? Nothing short of it. Beautiful? Of course – the presentation was artful. All around, it was exquisite. We were met by the talented and inviting chef, Jonathan Krell. He started out as an audio engineer but found his way into cooking, and before long he knew it was the path and passion he was supposed to follow. Chef Krell changes the menu four times per year to make it as seasonal as possible. Luckily for him, he is able to implement a farm-to-table style of cooking during the spring and summer, as the Myriad Gardens plants many different ingredients for him to use in the dishes. Chef Krell graciously brought out many of his handcrafted dishes for us to try. It felt like the entire kitchen was being delivered out to us, and hey, we’re not complaining! Just about every single taste was followed by a “Wow,” “Oh my goodness,” or “Oh, yum!” Park House most definitely took us on a trip to Flavor Town. Each dish was plated to perfection, and the food was so good that I would order each item a hundred times over. I enjoyed everything about our experience at the Park House from beginning to end. Be sure to stop in for lunch or dinner, or brunch on the weekends!
What We Tasted: Cheddar Crackling House-made cheddar pork rinds These were perfectly crunchy with a surprise of cheddar deliciousness! Oklahoma Pecan Hummus Toasted multigrain chips, house pickles Fried Oysters Miso-mustard glaze, arugula, pickled onion Get ready to be addicted to the miso-mustard glaze! Everything combines together for the perfect bite. Filet Mignon Paired with smoked cheddar mashed potatoes and candied carrots Melt-in-your-mouth filet with the most delicious potatoes. We’ll take everything with smoked cheddar from now on, please! Pork Belly Carbonara House-cured pork belly, peas, pappardelle pasta, egg yolk Two words: creamy deliciousness. Bananas Foster Sundae This sundae made for a fun day! Grab a few spoons and share this bowl of heaven. Elvis Pie Graham cracker crust, peanut butter mousse, bananas, whipped cream, bacon brittle One of the best things we’ve ever tried – hands down. You haven’t lived until you’ve had the Park House Elvis Pie!

The popular and delicious City Bites chain has a baby brother, and that is the Cow Calf-Hay in Edmond. The atmosphere inside will remind you of a City Bites with its quirky decorations and fun flair. Though it opened just a handful of years ago, this burger joint has quickly become a local favorite. They’re serving down-home good ol’ Oklahoma eatin’, like to-die-for onion rings and juicy, wacky burgers made entirely of certified Black Angus. We recommend the Mad Cow burger, topped with tender diced grilled chicken, American cheese, pepper jack cheese, grilled Idaho potatoes, smoked bacon and homemade spicy ranch. Okay, we’re drooling. It’s technically just a lunch spot, except on Fridays, when they stay open till 8 p.m. Be sure to give this new classic a try!
Happy 30th to the Coach House! For the last 30 years, this fine dining restaurant has been one of our great state’s staples. With world-renowned chef Kurt Fleischfresser heading the kitchen, each dish is carefully and uniquely crafted. They pride themselves on using local ingredients whenever possible. You can’t go wrong with any dish crafted by Chef Fleischfresser, but we highly recommend the pecan cornbread crusted salmon with tomato butter. The Coach House has a distinct warm feel. For private parties, there is a special private dining space that seats up to 20 guests. This restaurant and its awardwinning dishes have had such an impact, both on the public and on numerous chefs around the city.

ARIES
(MARCH 21 - APRIL 19)
Peculiar events or circumstances may be experienced in connection with your career. Misunderstandings and confusion can create chaotic conditions with contracts, merchandise, and sales or purchases particularly after the 4th. Some of these events may be of deliberate intent to deceive you, while others are likely to occur through lack of communication. After the 20th escape with a lover to your own private hideaway for a few days.
CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22)
There will be an additional flow of physical and mental energy during the next few weeks especially in work matters and you want to get things done. Be aware of this tendency, so that you can exercise caution and yet accomplish much by carefully directing this energetic activity toward the handling of difficult tasks. Find a constructive outlet. Finances improve between the 2nd and the 6th but don't spend money you don't have yet.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20)
You are passionate this month with Venus and Mars giving you the chance fulfill your intimate and sexual needs. Communications with friends provides you intellectual satisfaction. After the 17th you'll be busy with several events or social activities. You are currently somewhat inflexible on professional matters and this could cause problems for you with an employer. You need creative freedom now.
LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22)
Avoid possible disputes or misunderstandings with relatives especially on matters of religion or politics. It may be unwise to travel or consider the purchase of a car due to the adverse influence of Mars some. Relationships could hit a snag between the 10th and the 15th but will only be made worse if you don't give your partner space to work their own personal problems out. In general terms, you should also ignore idle gossip, confide in no one, and be your own counsel.
GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20)
This is an active time for social invitations -- attending engagement parties, weddings, and other functions and the journey is also on the cards during this phase especially in the last week of March. If single, this placement can provide the opportunity for an engagement and possibly marriage. But, married or not, someone will enter your life and create a

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22)
Faulty judgment can place you under heavy burdens or obligations, so it is best to sign nothing of importance during this cycle. Unfortunately you may have to go head-to-head with someone over financial
PISCES
(FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20)
This is not the time to confide in co-workers, who may in turn alter the information and use it to their advantage. This is likely between the 1st and the 4th and then again the 11th and 12th. You may work with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with their personal life, health, or mental state and your input may actually help them solve some problem this month. Don't be too emotional in your love affairs as this could cause complications for you.
matters between the 18th and 20th but if you're diplomatic you can sidestep aggressive situations. Take some more time to plan your finances. A loved one can be emotionally manipulative especially during the last few days of the month.
now. All kinds of advantages and disadvantages may produce sudden and unforeseen changes in personal and domestic affairs especially between the 22nd and 25th. Compelling conditions may form sudden and sometimes unconventional attachments -- not the conventional relationship that one would normally expect.
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22)
Events over the next few weeks are likely to bring some important changes in your most personal relationships. Women are apt to play an active role in personal affairs and even in your professional life, or new acquaintances may enter the scene. Between the 10th and 15th may decide to alter conditions of your living quarters, consider new occupational offers, or make travel plans for the near future.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21)
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19)
This is a period of time in which you should assess present progress and ponder on sowing the seeds for future growth and development especially in your domestic circle. Consider the consequences of any new ventures or undertakings and business partnerships should be scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb especially around the 15th when the Moon conjoins Pluto. Can you handle supplementary projects? Can you fit them into your busy agenda without unwarranted stress on your wellbeing? Rethink your strategy this month.
Affairs connected with finances or business matters will be rather discouraging due to the continued presence of Saturn in your finance sector and this will be highlighted after the 10th with manipulative people dominating any contractual negotiations. You are likely to worry or lose sleep over delays in personal affairs around the 19th. This is not the best time to ask favors of bosses or for beginning new projects even if Jupiter is strong in your career zone.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18)
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21)
Expect the unforeseen; unusual conditions and surprising experiences to occur in your relationships
You are in a positive state of mind, filled with optimism and a hopeful outlook. You have the drive and inspirational attitude to draw admiration from others and increase your chances for social contacts, business advancement, or a new romance between the 10th and the 14th. Take advantage of relationship opportunities around the 17th when you are likely to be attractive and seductive! so6ix.com | MARCH 2015

KYLE HAYLES
Visual Merchandise Manager - Ruth Meyers Meet Kyle! His passion for fashion started at an early age, as early as elementary school. Kyle was always fashion forward, choosing his own style. Eventually Kyle got his career started at the Coach store in Penn Square Mall, where he was later promoted to visual merchandise manager. This is where his true love for merchandise began. Upon new ownership of R Meyers, Kyle made the switch over to Nichols Hills Plaza to work beside new owner Cindi Shelby. Kyle explains that fashion is like an opinion: it’s an expression of one’s self. He loves that he is able to help women convey their own message, and it helps that he is such a people person. He has proudly been with R Meyers for five years now. He has gotten to know the store’s loyal following, and he has built up his own clientele as well.
His advice for fashion? Fit is everything. It’s truly what makes or breaks an outfit or look. “It can determine what makes you feel comfortable in an outfit,” says Kyle. He recommends that you become best friends with a local tailor or seamstress. We asked Kyle what he thinks is the staple piece everyone should have in their closet. His answer: accessories. In his opinion, they determine an outfit. You can change accessories to take the look of a simple dress from daytime business to evening cocktail. Statement accessories are a must, ladies! Many don’t know that R Meyers is now going into its sixth year under new (and wonderful) ownership. Since it was established over 30 years ago, many people aren’t aware of all of the new brands, looks and accessories they carry. R Meyers has something for every age, including pieces that an 18-year-old and a 60-year-old could both look great in. Their merchandise is timeless across age demographics.
Kyle is busy, busy, busy! He works full-time for R Meyers while finishing up his bachelor’s degree in marketing and business. Eventually he plans to have a store of his own. When he’s not at work, you can find Kyle outside or spending time with his four (yes, four) adorable dogs! Give him summertime and a rooftop patio with a cocktail and he is set.
Fun fact about Kyle: he has an extensive handbag collection. His most recent acquisition is a vintage Gucci suitcase, but his favorite is his navy crossbody Longchamp. He tends to wear more navy than black, as it’s the perfect four-season neutral.
Be sure to stop in R Meyers and say hello to Kyle. Let him help you with your fashion needs!
