Hello March! March is already upon us and it couldn’t come fast enough. I’m so ready for spring to be here. While I love all the seasons Oklahoma gives us, I’ve had my fill of cold weather, naked trees and dead grass. I can’t wait for those spring thunderstorms and heavy rains. It seems like overnight the grass turns green, trees fill out, and flowers are in full bloom. I’ve already made my list of spring activities and adventures, ranging from morning tee times to evening bike rides. And I will not be missing out on patio season. I have my usual list of local beer and food joints with great patios I will be visiting, as well as a couple new ones to try out this spring. What’s on your list?

Bruno is a rescue pup, and he is so thankful for his second chance at life. He likes to show his gratefulness with his prolevel snuggling capabilities. Bruno has a taste for the finer things in life, like leather shoes and clutches as chew toys (with an occasional chew stick that belongs to his big bro, Ceezar). Even though he loves his humans, he’s an independent guy – he loves to take himself on walks with his leash in his mouth. Neighborhood JA.M. is serving classics with a twist, as well as a ton of their own creative creations that will probably become your new favorites. When you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice is the sunshiny décor: it’s bright, airy and chic. Grab a cup of coffee if you have to wait, or beat the crowd with the fantastic NoWait app from Yelp. Each day Neighborhood JA.M. makes everything from scratch with the freshest of ingredients. Even if you’re a creature of habit, we highly recommend trying something new every time you come here – you’ll be glad you did. Neighborhood JA.M. is more than just omelets and hash browns, and there is too much greatness on this menu to leave anything untasted. If you’re feeling sweet, pineapple bourbon cakes are the way to go. Caramelized pineapple bourbon sauce with bourbon butter? Yes, please! If you’re into a little bit of spice and a whole lot of flavor, El Jefe is a local favorite around here. That green chile hollandaise is heaven. If you’re watching your figure, don’t worry: they have great-for-you options like an acai bowl and a quinoa power bowl to help fuel you through your day, and yes, they’re equally as delicious. (Good luck saying no to their pancakes, though.) While the food is the star of the show, we can’t ignore their impressive handcrafted cocktails and bar options. With choices like fresh-squeezed juices, a specialty “seed-to-cup” coffee with local partner Topeca Roastery, and a bacon habanero–infused Bloody Mary, the list is incredibly impressive. They’re putting more effort and expertise into brunch cocktails than most. Neighborhood JA.M. is extremely diet/food allergy friendly and has gluten-free options, so don’t be afraid to ask your waiter or share your dietary needs. Our friends in Norman are about to be jammin’ too: the newest Neighborhood JA.M. is set to open in Norman at the end of May. The Oklahoma City location is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and in the evenings they rent out their space for events or rehearsal dinners. How cool is that? Chile Pepper Café is one of the newest locally owned and operated restaurants in Edmond, and they’re whipping up a delicious cross between Mexican food and Southwest cuisine. They’re not putting rules or limits on what they do, and they’re striving to put out fantastic, diverse cuisine from the great melting pot of the cultures in the Southwest. To start off your experience, you’ll find all the greats like chips and guac and homemade queso blanco, but you also can’t pass up their broiled stuffed jalapeños and Texas fries. Many of their dishes include roasted green chiles in some form, and we’re excited about this. All of their sauces are made in-house, including the ones on their meats, like the smoked chopped chipotle brisket or green chile pork. This spot promises a lot of flair and a whole lot of flavor.

Crime rates have plummeted within a 3-mile radius of the club since it opened, with kids choosing better paths and making smarter decisions after school. It’s a safe, positive and fun environment for the youths of our city. Membership costs $10 or less per year, per child.
