Welcome, everyone, to our annual Okie Made Issue! This is always one of my favorite issues of the year. During the month of production of this issue, it is always so exciting to go to the office and see what new Okiemade products will be delivered each day. After being contacted, fellow Okies from all over the state handdeliver their wonderful products to us to be featured, telling us firsthand their stories about how they got started, how they do it, and the pride they have in their great products. It’s always so inspiring and energizing to hear how all of these great companies love what they do. Many of them worked their day jobs for a long time (and many still do) so they could finally follow their dreams. And believe me when I say that you can taste, see and feel the love in all of these Okies’ products. We hope that you check out our feature story and read about each amazing product we got to try out this month. We made sure to provide you with all the info needed to try them out for yourself. We encourage you to support local!
issue: Find your Food Truck! So6ix has partnered with several of the most popular trucks in OKC to bring you a whole section of the magazine about where to find each truck on any given day during the month. You will also see great photos of the delicious food and treats each truck has to offer, as well as an in-depth look at one featured truck each month. Make sure you hold on to this issue and refer back to it often to track down your favorite truck, and please tell them that So6ix says hello!
I would also like to point out another great part of this

We hope that you enjoy this Okie Made issue. We are proud of what we have made and proud to be Okies! Thank You

The sixth annual Made in Oklahoma Fest has a host of unique events in store for Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This free, family-friendly festival is held at the Sheraton Midwest City Hotel at the Reed Conference Center, located at 5750 Will Rogers Road in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The festival features a full day of activities and entertainment, with fresh new experiences lined up for attendees as well as yearly favorites. Festival-goers will enjoy live performances from local musicians on both indoor and outdoor stages, the Mother Road Car Show, featuring cars, trucks and motorcycles, mixology and food pairing sessions, and an extensive variety of local wine, beer, food and merchandise vendors. Oklahoma wineries showcase an extensive variety of whites, reds and special blends all made in our great state. Breweries offer a selection of ales, lagers and specialty varieties, all for sampling. Commemorative festival glassware and 10 tasting tokens can be purchased onsite for $20, so you can enjoy some of each!
One of the many things we loved about this event last year is that several of the vendors out there showcasing their products are the actual owners. It gives you a chance to say hello and chat and understand the products on an even more personal level, really giving you a sense of pride to be supporting local.
Beer & Brewery Highlights
This event is always a wonderful time to get out and about and experience many of the great products made right here in Oklahoma. We believe it’s important to support local, and what better way to do so than with a “one-stop shop” at the Made in Oklahoma Fest. There are plenty of activities and things to see and try for every age, so plan to bring the whole family and enjoy the day.
Choc Beer
This “state of great tastes” provides an unparalleled showcase of local flavor and culture. More information on the entertainment lineup and vendor directory are available online at MadeinOklahomaFest.com.

PUPPY OF THE MONTH Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen
These cuties originated from France, where they was known for hunting, particularly in packs – they have a great sense of smell. They only recently came to the United States, in 1994. The Grand Basset is the larger of two sizes of the breed, the the Petit Basset being the smaller. They’re energetic, independent and generally healthy, but they are not necessarily known for being obedient – even though they were once hunting dogs, they’re now companion dogs. They’re great with children, other dogs and strangers. 46

EATS You know a place is truly special when it makes you feel as if you’ve left your city or state, transporting you for the complete experience. This is how it is at the newest chic eatery in Nichols Hills Plaza, En Croûte. Upon walking in, you can’t help but notice the chic and artsy atmosphere and décor. Not many things make me as happy as marble tabletops and good art, and this place made me jump up and down (on the inside). You’re greeted with smiling faces and a beautiful cheese and meat display (heaven!). The entire restaurant space is very quaint. It doesn’t have a large number of tables, but it does have bar seating where you can get right in on the action, watching cheese trays get made or cocktails crafted. En Croûte was inspired by European travels, and they serve authentic European-inspired dishes with an American twist. They really focused on trying to give you a European feel while staying true to Oklahoma tastes and desires. They offer an all-day menu, which comprises both breakfast and lunch offerings, and then a dinner menu. The casual menu is full of high-quality ingredients and you can taste it throughout each and every bite, for which we have talented chef-partner Jonathon Stranger to thank. Crosby Dyke, another partner, is what we’d call a cheese queen. She’s seriously talented: she finds and sources the best possible cheeses and charcuterie that we promise you won’t find anywhere else. We can’t leave out the incredible desserts and pastries. Made by hand with love, there are some seriously delicious creations coming from En Croûte, and they’re all just as beautiful as they are tasty. We think this spot is a gem, and we know that it’s here to stay and make an impact on the culinary world in Oklahoma. This might be a little forward, but we’re in love with you, En Croûte.

FOOD TRUCK FEATURE
FILIPINO FUSION
Relatively new to our city’s food truck scene, Filipino Fusion has been whipping up unique dishes for the last eight months. Husband and wife duo Cynthia and Rey have a passion for food and a vision to serve Oklahoma City. Both are Filipino, and the lack of Filipino restaurants in OKC meant they had to cook everything at home if they wanted a taste of the Philippines. They were both able to make great food that family and friends raved about and that showcased the vibrant Filipino flavors, and so they seized the opportunity to start a food truck. Their goal is not just to create tasty food, but to introduce Filipino cuisine to those who have never tried it before. And trust us, you’ll definitely want to – it’s so good! Their core menu items are traditional Filipino dishes, but you’ll also find other inventive fusion creations, like their popular Adobo Rice Balls. It’s a family affair: Cynthia and Rey’s two sons work in the truck with them. So be sure to say hello to the whole family! We have a feeling that their great personalities and the unique flavors of their food will have you stopping by for a bite again and again.
