How does an investor create an appropriate, long-term investment plan? Spreading assets over a variety of different investments is perhaps the most common rule investors follow. Because no single type of asset performs best in all economic environments, the performance of a diversified portfolio is expected to fluctuate less over an extended period of time, this practice is commonly referred to as asset allocation. Asset allocation is the act of balancing the three common investment classes: stocks, bonds and cash alternatives. Knowing the differences among them is important: • Common stocks, which represent ownership rights in a corporation, entail more risk than other types of financial assets in the short run. But over longer holding periods, they have historically provided the highest returns and the greatest margin over inflation. Common stocks also have the greatest potential for short-term downturns. • Bonds are IOUs issued by corporations, governments and federal agencies. They typically offer higher yields than cash alternatives, but their value can fluctuate dramatically in response to changes in interest rates. Bonds historically have offered higher current income with less volatility than stocks, but have limited potential for increased returns.

•Cash Alternatives include money market securities such as Treasury Bills and short-term certificates of deposit. Because these investments have shorter maturities, they typically provide a stable investment value and current interest income. However, inflation can quickly erode the purchasing power of these investments, leaving investors short of reaching their financial goals.

What Should the Allocation Be? How much emphasis should be placed on stocks for growth, bonds for income and cash alternatives for safety and liquidity will depend in part on an investor’s tolerance for risk and the time horizon for pursuing financial goals. If the goal is the near-term purchase of a house or car, a shorter time frame calling for lower- or moderate-risk investment approaches may be appropriate. For goals like college education or retirement may mean investors have a longer time horizon that allows an investor to pursue more aggressive and potentially rewarding strategies because of the ability to wait out any short-term fluctuations in the market. To find out about asset allocation and how a customized asset allocation strategy may assist in pursuing your financial goals,

Asset Allocation does not ensure gains nor can it prevent losses from occurring in a portfolio or account. Photography and art have always been a deep passion of mine. My media of choice is oil on canvas. I have been painting since I was six years old and it always fills my heart with happiness. Photography is important to me because life is about enjoying the moment. With photography, you are able to capture that moment and everyone associated with it. You can reflect on all the great times you had with family, friends, and even complete strangers. Speaking of family, I have been blessed with a great one. My mom is my best friend and I can confide in her with anything. I also have two amazing sisters and a loving father. They make my life so much easier by always being there for me and supporting me in every decision I make. Friends are also an integral part of my life. They always keep me laughing and without laughter, what fun would life be?

BROCK BAUM Recently I was talking with a good friend. We all have these friends; the ones that we’ve grown up with and have shared life experiences with. They’ve seen you at your worst and at your best. These experiences, actions, and behaviors all play a role in your personal development in life. He shared with me a theory on the 3 Stages of Personal Development. 1. DEPENDENCE We all start here; dependent upon others for food, protection and nurturing. Our family makes the rules for us. Everything is externally based, because our interior world is still developing. And that’s okay, given that we are moving out of childhood toward creating our own paradigm of existence.

3. INTERDEPENDENCE The next level is called Interdependence, because it is about bringing the strength and insight of Independence back to the group in order to accomplish something greater than you can alone. Anyway, the smallest “group” that we enter into is friendship and romantic relationships. The ultimate goal is to be functioning as a 3 in concert with other 3s to the betterment of all. But you can’t skip a Level! So, for many folks, just getting out of Dependence is work enough.

2. INDEPENDENCE In young adulthood, we need to become true individuals: question all aspects of the society you are a part of; Religion, politics, transportation, food, power dynamics, culture. The solutions given to you by your family, friends, country, church, employer, etc. no longer suffice. You go through a process of self-definition that psychologist Carl Jung called “individuation”—the process of becoming an individual. There is a real strength to be found in standing in a worldview that you have constructed. And it is a necessary part of human development that you must pass through. However, to stay there forever is ultimately selfish.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned by competing in pageants?

“To keep everything in perspective. Being a pageant contestant, it is easy to get caught up in the gowns and hair and make-up, the glamorous side…but it is so important that we don’t stray away from why we are really doing this, and that reason is to be a positive role model and a person that America can relate to.”

As a Miss Oklahoma contestant, you have a platform, what is yours and why did you choose it?

I’ve created a program called “Get Real: Redefining Self-Image”. It is a program that spreads the message of celebrating your unique qualities and realizing that you don’t have to be just like everyone else to feel great about yourself. I chose it because I have dealt with my own struggles of self-image and am now able to share my struggles with others who need encouragement in that area.

How has competing in the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship program helped you in your everyday life?

I’ve competed in the Miss Oklahoma pageant three times, and every time I go I learn something new about myself. This past year as Miss Tulsa, I learned that preparing for Miss Oklahoma helped me in every aspect of my life. It has taught me to be healthier with diet and exercise, it has shown me ways to communicate that I would’ve not known had I not competed, and I really let the Lord guide my footsteps this year and just had to trust in his plan for my life. I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to participate in this organization and wouldn’t trade my experience for anything!

Friends can make or break a relationship. Don’t give into the myth that says, “all we need is each other,” because this is a lie. Human beings are social creatures. This means we need social interaction with other people, multiple people. When it comes to relationships, there are two types of “friend zones,” and both are crucial for a successful relationship. The first is mutual friends. These friends are generally other couples that you and your partner hang out with. You go on double dates, have game nights, and do other couples’ activities. Having friendships like these are important for fun, social interaction, and maybe expressing some personal issues. However, do not express relationship problems that you and your partner may be experiencing, with your mutual friends. This is a bad idea due to the fact that couples that are friends will most likely take one person’s side, usually the girls will team up and the guys will team up. This causes even more problems within the circle. In general, mutual friends are pretty easy to handle. Personal friends, however, is where the major problems occur. This is generally the area that causes the most stress among couples. First, let’s just get one major problem out of the way. There is a saying that says “bad company corrupts good

morals,” and let me tell you, you can’t get closer to the truth than that. So, if you simply just cannot like or trust your partner’s close friends because of their actions and personality, then get out of the relationship. Everyone knows that a person is exactly like the people he or she hangs out with. Therefore, if your partner’s friends are disrespectful, crude, and flat out untrustworthy, then most likely your partner is the same way, and he or she is just putting on a front and you are being blinded. When people go through problems, boys need their boys, and girls need their girls. This is universal knowledge. Therefore, couples need to be respectful of that. Don’t try to steal every bit of your partner’s attention so that it drives away all their close friends. Let them have fun with their friends and give them some flexibility, because you yourself know that you need that space too. Close friends are the ones you can escape to and communicate both personal and relationship problems with. Friends are very influential and helpful, they can save your relationships at times, but they can also destroy relationships if not handled carefully. Couples, be wise in how you and your partner deal with friends, and talk about it with each other. Communicate your thoughts. If you are single, then choose a person that is surrounded by a good group of friends. Remember, bad company can corrupt good morals, but good company will produce a stronger character.

N.F.P.A. Certified Trainer with a B.S. in Health & Sport Sciences from O.U. He owns Results Fitness and Nutrition Center, L.L.C. in Edmond).

There is one thing that remains a constant for men through the years that start a weight-training program. They want to have “BIG ARMS”. I am a big fan of symmetry, but I have to admit that having big arms does catch the ladies attention. When I first started lifting weights I definitely noticed that first. Through the years I also noticed that it was a more difficult body part to develop than my other parts such as chest and thighs. I played with many different combinations of workouts to determine what works. I found that with body parts that are more stubborn or that you need more emphasis on, that you should work them twice a week as opposed to once a week, which is common for advanced trainers. The problem was that I found that 5-6 sets twice a week was not enough and 10-12 sets twice a week was too much. I finally figured out that I would need one day to train my arms with a ton of volume, like 10-15 sets for biceps and 12-18 sets for triceps for one day and then a few days later I would do just 5-6 sets for each again. I generally did more reps and sets for triceps because it just worked better for me. I found that the first workout was for killing the muscle and the second was to just keep the fascia opened up to remind the muscles that I want them to keep growing but not necessarily to kill them again where I can’t recover.

Here is a sample of my arm blasting routine that got my arms around 20 inches at their best: Workout #1: Biceps and Triceps on Fridays Preacher Curls: 5 sets of 10 One Warm Up and then 4 sets to failure Tricep Rope-Pressdowns 8 sets of 15 Two to Three Lighter Sets and then 5 sets to failure Hammer Curls: 3 sets of 10 All Three to failure Dips: 3 sets of 15 Use around your waist if necessary extra weight Screw Curls: 3 sets of 10 Skull Crushers: 5 sets of 15 Be careful with your elbows here.

Workout #2 (Triceps): This would at the end of my Monday chest workout Bench Dips with weight on legs: 6 sets of 25 Workout #2 (Biceps): This would be at the end of my Tuesday Back workout 65 Degree Incline Curls: 6 sets of 12-15

Salut, my darlings! The new season is here and Im exited. Exited about cooler weather, chrisp air in the mornings, warm palet of Fall colors and of course autmn fashion items. I am extremely exited about my two new dresses that I know will become my closet’s classics. The lovely dresses are designed by one of my fav designers Tory Burch. Let me tell you about this incredible woman. Tory Burch ( born June 15, 1966) is an American fashion designer, socialite, business person and celebrity who was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia. She moved to NY City to pursue her professional career with various leading fashion industry business. Tory began her own fashion label in 2004 which was an immediate success. Currently, Tory Burch sells in major department and specialty stores worldwide including Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. Half the business coms from accessories, which includes handbags, shoes and jewelry. Last year, she beat out Marc Jacobs and Michal Kors at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, winning the Accessories Designer of the year. In 2005, and after just one year in

business, she won a Rasing Star Award for best new retail concept from Fashion Group International. In just four years Tory Burch has become the most influential, in my oppinion, fashion designer in America. She designs clothes that real people really wear. Her style is easy recognizeble and aprocheble by many. The tunic top, the sequin knit dress, the dickey sweater and the Reva ballet flat named after her mom and adorned with the double -T logo have become classic designs, some of which are cleverly re-created as charms on a bracelet, just to name a few. Her brand, with prices mostly in the $ 195 to $495 range, is accessible to a good range of ages and sizes ( up to a size 14). It’s that instinct for personal style, for mixing and matching genres, eras and prints that Burch could market more, and that could propelher into the future. Right now, she’s got the goods but she needs the muth, something like Ralph Lauren’s American Story, or Diane Von Furstenberg’s iconic working girl-in-a-wrap dress. If she can find that, four yearscould turn into 40 and Tory Burch could just be the next great American brand. Untill the next time darlings! XOXO

DADHICHI TOTH

GEMINI PISCES Between the 12th and the 18th powerful forces impact upon you and you feel drawn to different people in your life. Philosophy, yoga and other spiritual practices which you may have only superficially been interested in previously, become more relevant to your life. You may understand your past religious beliefs more clearly and could even feel that they are outdated and need to be thrown out.

ARIES Mercury re-enters your zone of work environment around the 18th and you have to separate the allies from enemies and the important from the insignificant this month. Hard work is necessary up until the new Moon of the 19th when the quick change in your daily office routine will bring greater productivity for you.

TAURUS Working on health and dietary issues will be important to you this month. By the 19th you’ll have in place a whole new schedule which will encompass your daily exercise, diet and possibly an alteration to the way you conduct appointments and meetings to make the best use of your time. Efficiency will be high on your agenda.

The full Moon occurs in your zone of work and indicates fulfilment of your career objectives. If you’re not in the right line of work personal ambitions might be obstructed and you’ll feel pretty frustrated throughout the period up until the 5th. You need to set your sights on goals that are realistic as well just now and mustn’t let other parts of your life distract you from the true key to understanding.

CANCER The new Moon on the 18th occurs at a time when the Sun is approaching a conjunction with Saturn. Additional responsibilities will be offered to you. Don’t be afraid to take up the challenge as you will learn a great deal about yourself and others this month. By jumping into the deep end you’ll quickly learn how to swim.

LEO On the 25th and 26th, the power of the Sun, Saturn, Moon and Pluto will drive this point home. If you are ill prepared for some new project or a change of direction in your company for personal independent business, you may be putting in far more hours than you would like, hence the added importance of health and dietary management this month.

SCORPIO After the 7th express your deepest feelings as openly as you can and don’t be afraid to bring out the hidden parts of your relationships, those aspects you’ve tried so hard to bury for so many years. It will be tough to disclose how you truly feel about someone but by doing so a whole new level of trust will develop in your life and you can advance with a clear conscience. SAGITTARIUS If you’re good at your job and it’s

quite likely that this is the case, others will be looking to offload their surplus work on you so that they are the ones who have an easy ride. If you become too sensitive about saying no to their requests, you’ll be the one regretting long hours and tedious work deadlines for not speaking up. Between the 2nd and the 11th these planetary demands become more intense, that’s for sure. CAPRICORN You make a statement about yourself to the world this month. You achieve dizzy heights and your ambitions will be fulfilled. Due to your ability to handle the demands of your work, your employers and clients etc., you will be endowed with greater authority and possibly even a promise of financial betterment. This cycle lasts for a month so bask in the blazing rays of the Sun while you can. friendship with them.

AQUARIUS During this phase and especially from the 15th until the 20th you’ll be struggling with the idea of changing your old patterns, developing new skills and eliminating those practices which have not worked you all that well. Old habits die hard so although you recognize the need to change, it will not necessarily be all that easy. Start with small steps before making radical changes to your lifestyle. VIRGO Speculation needs to be carefully monitored between the 19th and 25th if you’re thinking is unclear or you may have a bee in your bonnet and want to prove a point. This is not an intelligent way to spend your money and you’re better to hold off and do some paper trading if the stock market seems appealing. Remember this is still a glorified form of gambling.

LIBRA To overcome lethargy or boredom, you may opt to do something extravagant around the 11th. Spending big or partying hard might seem like an escape route but this is only a temporary measure and you will still be left with issues staring you in the face. This month is about dealing with your problems head-on and not being too discouraged.

AFC West

Here is a brief look at the NFL teams this year. Keep in mind; this is only my thoughts and opinions on how things shape up. My prediction for the Super Bowl this year is the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. I did not use a formula what I learned from my sources, ESPN and the Sporting News If you would like to voice your opinion go to www.So6ix.com welcome… Football fans are the greatest fans in the world!

AFC East 1. New England Patriots- Coach Bill

Belichick has nothing to worry about with the return of Tom Brady to lead the Patriots after recuperating from knee surgery. His already awesome offense has added a couple of stars such as former Jaguar Fred Taylor and former Buccaneer Joey Galloway to the offense. 2. The New York Jets 3. Buffalo Bills 4. Miami Dolphins

40

1. San Diego Chargers- Norv Turner and the Chargers are the only one in their division who has not had to deal with a change in coaching positions. Quarterback Phillip Rivers should have a solid season after his performance from last season. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson needs to improve his numbers over last season. Look for backup Darren Sproles and fullback Jacob Hester to take on greater roles this season. The receivers look to have a great season ahead with tight end Antonio Gates healthy. Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd had seasons last year and look to do it again. Their defense once again appears to be solid, barring any major injuries; the Chargers could be at the top of their division. 2. Denver Broncos 3. Kansas City Chiefs 4. Oakland Raiders

AFC North 1. Pittsburg

Steelers- Coach Mike Tomlin has already started of his preseason with a victory and I am sure there will be more to come this season. Quarterback Big Ben Roethlisberger returns this season to lead a solid team if he can get past the off field distractions. The team looks to have some solid veteran players and some healthy new additions with the NFL Draft. The Steelers look to be the strongest in their division. 2. Baltimore Ravens 3. Cleveland Browns 4. Cincinnati Bengals

AFC South 1. Tennessee Titans- Coach Jeff

Fisher seems to have a good chemistry going for his team. Kerry Collins returns as the starting quarterback this season a little older and with a few more grey hairs, but he proved last season that his experience as a quarterback was golden. Backup quarterback Vince Young is still searching for identity with the team. If Collins goes down,Young is definitely going to have to find himself quickly. Running Backs LenDale White and Chris Johnson should be weapons on the offense. Rookie Javon Ringer has lit up the field in the preseason, I would not be surprised to see him in action often this season. Bo Scaife and Alge Crumpler return once again as prime time targets for Collins. The defense lost Albert Haynesworth in the offseason. The question is which combination of players will be able to fill the void the big man left behind. Overall, if the Titans get it together, they should take the division this year. 2. Indianapolis Colts 3. Houston Texans 4. Jacksonville Jaguars

NFC East 1. Dallas Cowboys- Coach Wade

Phillips is back to lead the Cowboys for another season. Quarterback Tony Romo should not have any problems with making something happen with the starstudded offense he has in front of him. He will have to establish a relationship with wide receiver Roy Williams if Williams is to have a productive year. Patrick Crayton has had problems catching the ball hopefully this year he will have his hands. Romo’s other favorite target is Jason Witten the Pro Bowl tight end should have another great season. Running backs Marion Barber and Felix Jones are tough and strong and pound the ball

through any defense. On the defense, teams beware of DeMarcus Ware he is still every quarterback’s nightmare. If the Cowboys and Romo get it together early, they should make a good run in the play-offs, something they have not seen in awhile. 2. Washington Redskins 3. New York Giants 4. Philadelphia Eagles

NFC West 1. Arizona Cardinals- Coach Ken

Whisenhunt will return with Kurt Warner as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals. Offensively, they picked up Chris “Beanie” Wells in the draft and lost Edgerrin James after the draft. Receivers Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston look good this season. Their defense looks decent this season. They could possibly make it to the playoffs in the division they are in. 2. Seattle Seahawks 3. San Francisco 49ers 4. St. Louis Rams

NFC North 1. Minnesota Vikings- Coach Brad

Childress and the Vikings signed once again retired Brett Favre to an NFL contract. If Favre still has good hands, he and Adrian Peterson should have a great season together. The rest of the offensive line should be able to take care of themselves on the field. The Defense should hold fairly well, even better when Pat and Kevin Williams get back off a four game suspension handed down at the end of the season. 2. Chicago Bears 3. Green Bay Packers 4. Detroit Lions FOOTBALL CONTUED NEXT PAGE

FOOTBALL CONTINUED:

NFC South 1. Carolina Panthers- Head Coach

John Fox has experience at the quarterback position with Jake Delhomme, if he stays healthy all season long. The offense has plenty of talent. Running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart set league records last season. In the Wide Receivers category, Steve Smith is the stand out and look out for Dwayne Jarrett to make an impressive start this season. They look to have a solid defense this season. 2. New Orleans Saints 3. Atlanta Falcons 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Drinking Game Party Bus

Supplies: beer, players, and a deck of cards First start out by dealing 3 rows of cards onto the table. The first row contains 5 cards, the second has 4 and the third has 5. Then deal each player 5 cards Start off by flipping over the cards in the rows one by one. Players hand out drink by matching the cards in their hand to the cards in the rows. Whatever the card value is thats how many drinks you hand out. Ten is ten, Jack is eleven and so on. After all cards in the rows are flipped over players then total the amounts of the cards remaining in their hand. Whoever has the highest amount then rides the bus. Riding the bus: The player(players) rides the bus by drinking the card that is flipped out of the deck. The person who is counting counts by laying down the amount of cards that the card flipped equals. Do this throughout entire deck. Person riding bus should finish at least one beer.
