NELSON P H OTO
Disciplines or Categories: Website Design, App Design, UX Kind of Project: Website Rebranding
Project Description Redesign a consumer website that looks outdated and uses bad UX. Update the look and feel to be more inviting and update the UX to improve the experience for the user on the site.
Project Concept & Design Goals For this project, I choose to update the website for Nelson Photo. As a customer, I know Nelson Photo is a reliable place to shop and their staff is helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The biggest obstacle with this project was deciding how to create a website that provided all the information and specs a photographer needs when looking for new equipment while also inspiring them to get out into the world and take photos. When deciding on what to include in the site, highlighting beautiful photography on the home-page felt like the right direction, while also providing clean, modern, and well-organized information in subsequent pages to improve upon the user experience.

For the Love of LEGO: A Brick History
Project Title: For the Love of LEGO: A Brick History Year of Completion: Spring 2017 Disciplines or Categories: Print, Book Design Kind of Project: Book Design
Project Description Design a book that celebrates “artisans,” that displays a well-defined type system, includes graphics, and a slip cover.
Project Concept & Design Goals For this project, I picked a topic and company that I love, LEGO. I researched about a books’s worth of history and information on it and, though LEGO is a large and quite popular company, finding that much information about the company’s history was very difficult and time consuming. However, I found the history and inspiration I needed when a traveling art exhibition called, The Art of the Brick, came to my city. From there, I sought to share LEGO’s history not only through the perspective of the company, but also from LEGO fans, master builders, and everyday customers who built an entire culture of imagination and creativity around the brand.

Yellow: A Bright Experiment in Type
Project Title: Yellow: A Bright Experiment in Type Year of Completion: Fall 2017 Disciplines or Categories: Print Design, Packaging Design, Type Experimentation Kind of Project: Type Experimentation
Project Description Pick a color and represent that color through typographic experiments. Turn those type experiments into a set of posters and create packaging for it.
Project Concept & Design Goals Though there were many experiments that failed, I enjoyed this project the most out of everything I have done. Lots of the materials I used were everyday things
Y ELLOW
I had around the house, but there were a few ideas that required special materials such as the honey poster where I used an edible, organic mold. Many of the experiments were created using food because lots of those materials were affordable and readily available. Though working digitally was an option, I felt that working with my hands would produce more interesting subjects for the posters that pushed my creativity.

SUITED
Project Title: Suited Year of Completion: Spring 2017 Disciplines or Categories: Print Design, Website Design, Print and Social Media Advertising Kind of Project: Web Design, Advertising
Project Description Define a problem in the world today and create a product or service that addresses that issue.
Project Concept & Design Goals Everyone must go through a hiring process in order to get a job but many may face direct or unconscious biases based on their gender, name, or other factors. Suited was a solution that sought to remove those biases through an anonymous hiring tool. Lines and circles were used in the visual system to represent connections in a way that also represents a variety of opportunities for those connections to happen.

Lamb’s Theatre
LAMB’S T H E AT R E Project Title: Lamb’s Theatre Year of Completion: Spring 2018 Disciplines or Categories: Website Design for Desktop and Mobile, UX Kind of Project: Website Redesign
Project Description Identify an e-commerce site with poor organization, navigation, and UX. Redesign that site to improve upon its customer experience.
Project Concept & Design Goals The original Lamb’s Theatre website was difficult to navigate and overall not pleasant to use. Part of the difficulty for designing for the theatre was keeping the “community theatre” feel while making it function and look like a modern website. The company’s color, “Lamb’s green,” was kept as part of the identity because of the equity it holds with the local community and to their history.
