A BRIEF HISTORY BRICK-BY-BRICK
1979
“Only the best is good enough.” That was the motto of LEGO Group founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen, and he believed in it so strongly that his son Godtfred Kirk Christiansen carved it on a sign and hung it on his father’s carpentry workshop’s wall. Ole Kirk believed that children deserved to have toys made with the highest quality materials and workmanship, and he was determined that the toys manufactured in his workshop would last and remain just as fun through years of play. Today, the words of the company’s founder remain its driving force, and its products continue to be passed down from one generation to the next, sparking the creativity and imaginations of millions of children and adults all over the world.
