Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. Our athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual accolades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study conducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin University in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Dragons Head Coach Erica Brown E Erica Brown recently completed her first year as Head Womeen’s Lacrosse Coach at Tiffin University. Brown previously served as Head Coach at Lycoming ColB llege, leading the team to a 19-17 overall record, 15-8 in the Middle Atlantic Conference over her two seasons. During that M sspan she coached three All-Region and nine All-Conference pplayers while also guiding 18 student-athletes to Academic All-Conference honors. A IIn her first season with Lycoming, Brown posted a 7-4 confference recordand led the Lady Warriors to the first round of theMiddle Atlantic Conference playoffs. th Brown also served two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at B nnearby Lock Haven University, working with the Division II Lady Eagles’ lacrosse program. L While at Lock Haven, she assisted the coaching staff with all W aareas of running the program, including recruiting, gameday ppreparation, conditioning, academic monitoring and fundrraising. The Lady Eagles posted a combined record of 33-6 in hher two years on the staff, including a trip to the NCAA Final Four in 2007. That same year, Brown coached the Division II Midfielder of the Year, two first team All-Americans, two second team All-Americans and two All-NCAA Tournament players. In her two years at Lock Haven, she coached a total of seven All-Americans. Brown also spent much of 2012 as 2016 Elite Coach for T3 Lacrosse Club in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. She also was a clinic instructor teaching lacrosse basics to players between 10-18 years of age. She played lacrosse at Wagner University. A standout goalkeeper, Brown still ranks second all-time in Wagner history in career minutes played, career saves and career goals against average. She also holds the record for minutes played in a season and ranks second in saves in a season. A co-captain of the team in her senior year, she was ranked on lax.com as one of the top-12 goalies in all of Division I. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy and administration from Wagner in 2005 and is finishing her master’s degree in liberal arts from Lock Haven. She is certified as a lacrosse referee by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) and U.S. Lacrosse.
2013 Dragons Lacrosse Review I was an amazing season for Tiffin as they went 6-2 in the It G GLIAC and 10-9 overall under first year coach Erica Brown. T The Dragons broke the school record for wins and reached the G GLIAC Championship game, an incredible turnaround after a 33-14 season in 2012. Their win-loss ratio from 2012 to 2013 of + +6 was the most improved mark in the nation in 2013. Tiffin also finished fifth in NCAA DII in points with 439. IIt was the year of Alexandria the Great, senior Alexandria Quast. S She set numerous school records and broke four NCAA records. Q Quast set single-game NCAA Division II records with 13 asssists and 20 points against Walsh (April 5). Her points were an aall-NCAA division record. For the season, she scored a record 1105 goals, the first NCAA Division I or II player to reach the 100 ggoal mark. Quast also broke the all-time leading scorer mark dduring the season with 412 points. She eventually placed second aall-time behind Long Island Post’s Jackie Sileo. Q Quast, who earned All-GLIAC First Team and Synapse Sports A All-America Second Team honors, closed the season with 105 ggoals and 71 assists for 176 points. She led the country in four categories and is among the top four in a total of seven. For her career, Quast tallied 288 goals (2nd best in NCAA DII history) with 124 assists. She holds every TU game, season and career record except for one. Sophomore Jessica Bombard was named the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year. She led the country in saves with 219 and was fourth with 11.53 saves per game. Bombard set the single-game record with 22 saves against Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Championship game. Joining Bombard and Quast on the first team was Alexis MacMillan and Megan Belch. MacMillan had 35 goals with 47 assists for 82 points. She ranks among the top 10 in the country in total assists and assists per game. Belch had a solid season as a defender with two assists and was second on the team with 13 caused turnovers. Garnering Second Team honors were Emily Roussel, Katelyn Hill and Kalie Weinheimer. Earning Synapse Sports All-Rookie honors were Hill and Roussel.

Lacrosse Facilities Frost-Kalnow Stadium Tiffin University enjoys playing its home women’s lacrosse games at Frost-Kalnow Stadium, a recently renovated facility that seats 4,500 and is recognized as one of the premier football stadiums in Northwest Ohio. The stadium is shared by Tiffin University, Columbian High School and Calvert High School, and was originally built by Franklin Roosevelt’s WPA during the 1930s. Recently millions of dollars were spent in the renovation of the existing structure and the installation of state-of-the-art artificial turf.
Paradiso Fields The Dragons also have a large practice facility at the Tiffin University Athletic Fields, a recently developed property close to the TU campus. The location is just 1.5 miles from the Tiffin University campus and resides on 78 acres of land that also house all of the outdoor athletics teams at TU. The Athletic Fields, which debuted in the Fall of 1997, feature a baseball field, two softball fields, two soccer fields, an outdoor track facility, and two football practice fields.
Lacrosse Facilities Heminger Center T latest addition to the campus, The tthe Heminger Center, features an iindoor track and field complex aand a 60x50 yard turf indoor ppractice facility. O major portion of the buildOne iing includes an indoor track and ffour multi-purpose courts that will be used for basketball, volw lleyball, and tennis. The other llarge portion has artificial turf aand will be used for practices by tthe TU football, soccer, lacrosse, bbaseball, and softball teams, in aaddition to intramurals, club ssports and other recreational activities. The middle section of the facility has coaches’ offices, locker rooms, an athletic training room, two classrooms, and a food court.
Physical Fitness Center TU also enjoys using the Tiffin University Physical Fitness Center, yet another recently expanded facility benefiting the student-athlete on TU’s ever-growing campus. The facility, which recently doubled in size, features a cutting-edge weight center that is continually upgraded with new equipment.
Tiffin University Lacrosse 2013 Athletic Honors Quast named Synapse Sports All-American Alexandria Quast was named Second Team All-American by Synapse Sports and womenslacrosse.com, as their annual Division II and III teams were released Thursday. Quast enjoyed a tremendous senior season. She finished with an NCAA record 105 goals on the season and 176 points, the second highest single season total in NCAA history. Quast also finished with an NCAA Division II record 412 career points along with 288 career goals, second in NCAA history. She completes her career holding single game records with 13 assists and 20 points, the single season goal record (105), and the career points record (412). Freshmen Katelyn Hill and Emily Roussel (right) also earned honors as they were selected to the All-Rookie Team. Hill had 40 goals and 13 assists for 53 points and was first in the nation in draw controls with 7.47 per game (142 total). Roussel was second on the team with 63 goals along with 14 assists for 77 points, good for 23rd in the nation in scoring and 11th in overall goals.
Bombard named Goalkeeper of the Year Tiffin University’s Jessica Bombard was named GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year by vote of the conference coaches, as the GLIAC released the all-conference selections at the GLIAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. Bombard, second in the nation in saves, was a First Team selection for Tiffin, which reached the GLIAC Championship game with a 13-11 win over Lake Erie. Alexandria Quast, who has 99 goals and 166 points on the season, was a First Team selection. She set a new NCAA single season record for goals and is currently the NCAA career points record holder. Alexis MacMillan (35 goals, 82 points) was named First Team attacker while Megan Belch also landed on the First Team at defender. Garnering Second Team honors were Emily Roussel (63 goals, 77 points) and Katelyn Hill (38 goals, 51 points). Kalie Weinheimer was also a Second Team pick at defender.
