Welcome... Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffin University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. We are especially proud of the high standards of conduct displayed by our coaches and players on and off the field. Paul Marion, Ph. D. At Tiffin University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual accolades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study conducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin University in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confident the future will also be highly successful for Tiffin University athletics. - Lonny Allen Athletic Director

Records and History Tiffin University’s women’s basketball program has underwent numerous changes in the 90-plus years that the Dragons have had basketball. The women’s team saw action sporadically during the first two decades of this century, but started to play a regular schedule in 192425, finishing 10-0 that year. The program continued until the close of the 1936-37 season, posting a 54-28-3 record during that stretch. Dragons leaders included Hall of Famer Edith Miller. The program didn’t return for another 48 years. In 1984-85, women’s basketball finally returned to Tiffin University, posting a winning record in its third year after returning (12-11 in 1986-87). In 1990-91, TU won its only Mid-Ohio Conference title, finishing 18-9 that season and setting a season record for wins that was not eclipsed until last season when the Dragons won 21. The Dragons also currently have seven women’s basketball players in the Tiffin University Hall of Fame - Edith Yambert Miller, Lois Collins Conrad, Tracy AlmansonMurphy, Angie Shardo Nunn, Susan Miller Hughes, Jenny Kane, and Melanie Sears. Eight years ago the Dragons earned their first ever NAIA National Tournament trip under coach Leslie Mugg. Angie Nunn is the Dragons’ all-time leading scorer with 1820 points, while Tracy Almanson is the leading rebounder with 802. But this season’s Dragons have many players who could easily change the face of the TU women’s basketball record books before their careers are through.

L d D H ll off Famer F L i Lady Dragons Hall Lois Conrad holds the NAIA record with 28 free throws in a single game. She also is the season record holder in the same category (199).

Angie Shardo scored 1820 ppoints, a career record.

Basketball Facilities The Gillmor Student Center

The Gillmor Student Center has been the home arena for Tiffin University basketball since the 1988-89 season - and, like the saying goes, there’s no place like home. In addition to the main auditorium, the building also contains over 17 offices, shower and locker rooms, a training room, a bookstore, a media conference room, a Student Activities room, the Student Affairs offices, the Channel 10 broadcast center, the Tiffin University Hall of Fame, and Trophy Gallery. A complete renovation of the Gillmor Center was recently completed. The Dining Commons, the Osceola Theater, a student lounge, expanded recreation room, numerous new offices, and expanded parking areas are just a few of the new renovations. The complex nearly tripled in size and has grown to service even more of the Tiffin University community.

Heminger Center H The latest addition to the c campus, the Heminger Center, ffeatures an indoor track and field ccomplex and a 60x50 yard turf indoor practice facility. in One major portion of the building includes an indoor track and four multi-purpose courts that will be used for basketball, volleyball, and tennis. m The other large portion has artificial turf and will be used for practices by the T TU football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, and softball teams, iin addition to intramurals, club sports and other recreational activities. The middle section of the facility has coaches’ offices, locker rooms, ro an athletic training room, two classrooms, and a food court.

Physical Fitness Center TU also enjoys using the Tiffin University Physical Fitness Center, yet another recently expanded facility benefiting the student-athlete on TU’s ever-growing campus. The facility, which recently doubled in size, features a cutting-edge weight center that is continually upgraded with new equipment.
