Welcome... We l c o m e t o t h i s a t h l e t i c s e a s o n a t Ti f f i n U n i v e r s i t y. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. We are especially proud of the high standards of conduct displayed by our coaches and players on and off the field. Paul Marion, Ph. D. President

At Tiffin University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success in recent th years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging ye at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual accolades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have Al set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. se We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study conducted by the university indicated that, of all the at athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin University in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would fi be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confident the future will also be highly successful for Tiffin University athletics. - Lonny Allen Athletic Director

2013 Season Preview The end of the 2012 season should have been called “The Fast and The Furious.” The Dragons finished 7-5-2 in the GLIAC and 9-8-2 overall. TU recorded their 15th straight winning season.

letterwinners and six starters back. Two transfers are among the 14 new faces this season.

P i c k e d tto finish in ffourth the GLIAC, th most of the m sseason was oone of hard kknocks. The Dragons lost hhad five games one bby ggoal each. Then Tiffin T ccaught on fire, winning their last four games. A 2-1 overtime upset win over Saginaw Valley State at home closed the regular season. The win put the Dragons into the GLIAC Tournament for the fifth straight season.

Tiffin has two of their top three scorers back in Giulianne Domingues and Lauren Bowyer. Domingues led the team with five goals and 11 points. She had three game-winning goals including the one against Saginaw Valley State. Bowyer has scored 18 goals during her career. Drew Plummer was an all-region selection last year at Owens CC and her experience will be a boost to the offense.

The Dragons must replace Ashley Davis and Alex Sevastakis, both four year players. Davis, an all-region player, tallied 23 goals during her career while Sevastakis found the net 16 times. The TU defense posted five shutouts and gave up just 24 goals on the season. However, Tiffin must replace three key members of that unit in four year players Stephanie Bowman, Lesley Dotson and Sheena Maravich. The 2013 season looks to be an interesting one for the Dragons. They do have 14

On the defensive side, competition is fierce for starting positions. Sophomore Olivia Haskin and junior Jourdan Larison are back on defense. Haskins started 16 games while Larison started all 19. Freshman Santina Graceffa looks to win a starting spot. She helped Boylan Catholic High School give up just 15 goals in 23 games last year. Junior Hayley Coppola will be manning the nets this season for the Dragons. She was 7-4 with 81 saves and a 1.16 goals against average after splitting time last season. Sophomore Kellie Gruber and freshman Shelbie May provide solid back-up.

Paula Fantini Head Coach Paula Fantini enters her fourth season as the head coach of the Tiffin University women’s soccer team. She is 30-22-7 with three trips to the GLIAC Tournament. Fantini, a native of Brazil, was named GLIAC South Coach of the Year in 2010 after leading the Dragons to a first place finish and NCAA postseason berth with a 12-6-2 overall record. That marked the second time in four years that the Lady Dragons have qualified for the NCAA National Tournament. A former women’s soccer star at Union College (KY), Paula Fantini joined the Lincoln Memorial coaching staff in 2007 after obtaining a double major in physical education and sports management, minors in health and general business and a master’s in health and physical education. While serving as assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Lincoln Memorial, the teams both had winning records. The men’s team finished second in the South Atlantic Conference in 2009 with a 10-5-1 record and record of 21-12-3 during Fantini’s tenure. The women’s team went 18-14-4 overall during that same stretch. In 2007 both the men’s and women’s teams at LMU won the SAC regular season and tournament championships. The men’s squad finished as NCAA National Runner-up, winning the Appalachian Region Championship while the women reached the Southeast Region Semifinals. As a student-athlete, Fantini excelled on and off the field. She was a Dean’s List honoree every semester at Union, and was a threetime Academic all-conference honoree, as well as a two-time All-American Scholar Athlete. She was named All-Conference and AllRegion three times, and was named All-American twice. She ranks fourth in career points in Union’s history. Fantini has a strong coaching background in both club soccer (Impact USA Nike) and in college soccer (University of Campinas).

Melissa Bigg Assistant Coach Melissa Bigg is in her third season as an assistant coach for women’s soccer. A native of Canada, Bigg comes to Tiffin University after working as a certified ACE personal trainer in a Cincinnati sports club. Before working she pursued her academic and soccer career at the University of Cincinnati, where she played all 65 games as a midfielder in her four years and was named captain in her senior season. Bigg also has experience playing in the W-League between 2006 & 2009, and winning a Canadian Club National Championship in 2005. She graduated in June of 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Promotion Exercise and Fitness and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Business in Sports Management.
