Welcome to Tiffin University Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffin University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. At Tiffin University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual accolades including AllAmericans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A reCent self study conducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin University in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we compete with the NCAA Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. Ray Robinson Ra Robinson is in his fourth year as Ray an assistant coach at Tiffin University. He is the throws coach and recruiting coordinator. co Ro Robinson owns the TU school record in the discus and is also on the top ten list in the weight and hammer te throw. Scoring as a three time Allth GLIAC student athlete in the discus, GL he was also named to the GLIAC All-Academic team four times and Al earned Academic All-American status in 2010. Robinson was a National Qualifier in the discus throw in 2010. In 2012, Robinson coached Adriane Blewitt at the U.S. Olympic trials where she qualified for the finals. He had two athletes earn All-American honors; Katie Gerhardt (outdoor - shot put) and John Pemberton (indoor & outdoor - shot put). Robinson has had seven NCAA competitors, 22 additions to the top 10 list in school history and broke six school records. Coaching experience: USATF registered coach. Coached Adriane Blewitt at the 2010 U.S. Championships at Drake University, in Des Moines Iowa. Blewitt finished fifth in the shot put among the nation’s professionals. He also coached her in the 2011 U.S. Championships at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon. Robinson has worked extensively with John Godina, four-time world champion and nine-time Olympic and World Championship medal recipient in both the shot put and the discus. Coach Robinson’s throwing philosophy is heavily influenced by both John Godina and Adriane Blewitt.

Steve Livoti Steve Livoti is in his fifth season St as an assistant coach for track and field at Tiffin University. He an works primarily with hurdlers wo and sprinters. an Livoti is a native of Tiffin who Li has taught World Studies at ha Lakota Schools for 30 years. He La has coached track for 33 years ha and was head boy’s and girl’s track coach for 24 of those years. Livoti accumulated a record of 2028 wins and 908 losses. He has had athletes who have represented Lakota High School for 27 of the last 33 years in the state championship. In 1987, the Lakota girls track team won the State Championship. Livoti taught education classes at Heidelberg from 2006 to 2009. He received the Bob Cline Longevity Award for 30 plus years of coaching and was nominated in 2010 for the Ohio Track and Field Hall of Fame Fred Daffler Longevity Award.

Kevin Kean Kevin Kean is in his second season Ke as an assistant coach for track and field at Tiffin University. He will be responsible for coaching the jumpers re and multi event athletes. an Kean spent five years (Sept. 2008 Ke to Dec. 2012) as assistant track coach at Northern Michigan. His co athletes shared success at the GLIAC, at regional and national levels. Kean helped develop a previously unranked team to as high as the top three in the GLIAC, in addition to a top 14 national indoor ranking and a top 20 outdoor ranking. He coached seven All-Americans in the high jump, triple jump, and pole vault in addition to having athletes break the indoor and outdoor GLIAC record in the triple jump and set a total of 22 school records. Kean is a native of Shorewood, Wisconsin and received his undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan (Dec. 2009), double majoring in Health and Physical Education. In May of 2012, he received a Masters in Exercise Science from NMU. Kean holds a certification through the USTFCCCA Track and Field Technical Certification (TFTC) program, and USATF Level II Jumps Coach program. Throughout his time as a student and coach at Northern Michigan University, Kean taught courses for the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) Department while working for the United States Olympic Education Center (USOEC) as a Resident Life Coordinator in addition to his internship work with the USOEC Weightlifting team.

Laura Igaune La Laura Igaune is in her second season as a graduate assistant coach for track an and field at Tiffin University. She will be assisting in coaching the throwers. Ig Igaune competed just one season for We Western Kentucky (2011) but made it a memorable one. She finished seventh at the NCAA Division I se Ou Outdoor Championships in the hammer. Igaune was the first female ha thrower in school history to earn All-American status. She won the hammer at the Outdoor Sun Belt Conference Championships, set the school record at 211 feet, five inches and was runner-up in the 20-LB weight at the Indoor Sun Belt Conference Championships. A native of Latvia, Igaune has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy and Health Care from Rigas Stradins University, Latvia, and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Western Kentucky. Igaune can lay claim to the Latvian Junior Championship title in the triple jump, multiple titles as Latvian National Champion in both the discus and hammer and still holds the Latvian national record in the hammer. She competed at the European Championship in 2011, missing the qualifying standard for the 2012 London Olympics by two inches.

Rachel Perry Rachel Perry is in her second Ra year ye as a graduate assistant cross country/track and ﬁeld coach for co the th Dragons. Perry Pe graduated from Mount Union College in the spring of 2010 where Co she sh received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. During her time at Mount Union, she ran cross country Mo and an track all 4 years. During her senior year, she helped lead the se women’s track & ﬁeld team to their second conference title in school history, by placing all conference in the 10,000m, 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase. Perry was an assistant cross/track coach at Westerville North High School and Otterbein University.

Fermon F Tate Fermon Tate Jr. is in his second Fe season as an assistant coach se for fo track and field at Tiffin University. He is responsible Un for coaching the sprints, fo hurdles, and relay events for hu the th Dragons. During the 2013 season, Tate Du helped his athletes to some he impressive performances. im There Th were a total of 12 school records set, three GLIAC re titles and 19 GLIAC runnerti up performances for a total of 38 All-GLIAC selections. The Dragons had 11 NCAA qualifiers with Candace Longino-Thomas earning All-American honors in the indoor 400-meter dash. Tate has over 26 years experience coaching youth, high school, collegiate, and elite level athletes. His educational background of the sprint events over the years led to successful accomplishments as a collegiate track and cross country coach at Arkansas -Pine Bluff, where he has most recently been coaching. While coaching throughout Michigan, Tate’s track and field teams won 7 state championships. As the National Director and Head coach of the Swift Track Club, he mentored a number of student athletes who have achieved All-American status at the USATF and AAU National levels. Tate’s athletes have broken numerous Indoor/Outdoor school records and he has helped foster 50 state champions in various events. Tate is proud to have passed forward his charisma and passion for track running to the athletes he worked with over the years, for which many have gone on to become NAIA , All-MAC, All-Big Ten, and NCAA All Americans. Tate competed in track at Mississippi Valley State, helping his team win the 1981 and 1982 NAIA National Championships. He transferred to Eastern Michigan, helping them win two Mid-American Conference championships. Passing on his legacy of exceptional track performances, Tate’s eldest daughter, Sierra, competed for Michigan while his son Fermon Tate III was a co-captain at Central Michigan. Tate currently lives with his wife, Dana and youngest daughter, Derra in Southfield, Michigan.

Track and Field Facilities Heminger Center The latest addition to the camTh pus, the Heminger Center, pu features an indoor track and field fe complex and a 60x50 yard turf co indoor practice facility. in One major portion of the buildOn ing includes an indoor track in and four multi-purpose courts an that will be used for basketball, th volleyball, and tennis. The other vo large portion has artificial turf la and will be used for practices by an the TU football, soccer, lacrosse, th baseball, and softball teams, in ba addition to intramurals, club ad sports and other recreational sp activities. The middle section of the facility has coaches’ offices, locker rooms, an athletic training room, two classrooms, and a food court.

Physical Fitness Center TU also enjoys using the Tifﬁn University Physical Fitness Center, yet another recently expanded facility beneﬁting the student-athlete on TU’s ever-growing campus. The facility, which recently doubled in size, features a cutting-edge weight center that is continually upgraded with new equipment.
