Welcome... Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffin University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. We are especially proud of the high standards of conduct displayed by our coaches and players on and off the field. Paul Marion, Ph. D. At Tiffin University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic progr grams have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being na nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual acco colades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study condu ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin Unive versity in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic wi with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Di Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the wi winning tradition that has been established, and I am confident the future will also be highly successful fo for Tiffin University athletics. - Lonny Allen Athletic Director

Records and History Tiffin University’s women’s basketball program has underwent numerous changes in the 90-plus years that the Dragons have had basketball. The women’s team saw action sporadically during the first two decades of this century, but started to play a regular schedule in 192425, finishing 10-0 that year. The program continued until the close of the 1936-37 season, posting a 54-28-3 record during that stretch. Dragons leaders included Hall of Famer Edith Miller. The program didn’t return for another 48 years. In 1984-85, women’s basketball finally returned to Tiffin University, posting a winning record in its third year after returning (12-11 in 1986-87). In 1990-91, TU won its only Mid-Ohio Conference title, finishing 18-9 that season and setting a season record for wins that was not eclipsed until 2011-12 when the Dragons won 21. The Dragons also currently have seven women’s basketball players in the Tiffin University Hall of Fame - Edith Yambert Miller, Lois Collins Conrad, Tracy AlmansonMurphy, Angie Shardo Nunn, Susan Miller Hughes, Jenny Kane, and Melanie Sears. Angie Nunn is the Dragons’ all-time leading scorer with 1820 points, while Jessica Harris is the leading rebounder with 1005. But this season’s Dragons have many players who could easily change the face of the TU women’s basketball record books before their careers are through.
Lady Dragons Hall of Famer Lois Conrad holds the NAIA record with 28 free throws in a single game. She also is the season record holder in the same category (191).
Angie Shardo scored 1820 po points, a career record.

2013 Dragons in the Community The Tiffin Women’s Basketball team tries to not only be involved in the Tiffin Community but we try to branch out as well. This year we have already cleaned up State Route 224, ddoing trash pickup. We’ve adopted part oof the highway on State Route 224 and hhave been a gold star member for the last five years. We went to Toledo, Ohio and volunW teered at the Food Bank. We sorted te ddonated food and grocery products that ffeed several thousands of families in Northwest, Ohio every year. N The Tiffin University Women’s BasT kketball team teamed up last year with Play4Kay, an initiative started by the P Kay Yow Cancer Fund, to help raise K money for the fight against breast cancer. m On Dec. 19th, 2012 they hosted a Free Throw-a-Thon, raising $2,826.00 by shooting 1,100 free throws. The Lady Dragons also have an annual pink game every year and combine the earnings from the Free Throw-A-Thon and the pink game to donate to Play4Kay, last d year y the grand total was $3,500. $ This T year, we also plan to t help Christ Church at Tiffi T n with their spring cleaning. c

Basketball Facilities The Gillmor Student Center The Gillmor Student Center has been the home arena for Tiffin University basketball since the 1988-89 season - and, like the saying goes, there’s no place like home. In addition to the main auditorium, the building also contains over 17 offices, shower and locker rooms, a training room, a bookstore, a media conference room, a Student Activities room, the Student Affairs offices, the Channel 10 broadcast center, the Tiffin University Hall of Fame, and Trophy Gallery. A complete renovation of the Gillmor Center was recently completed. The Dining Commons, the Osceola Theater, a student lounge, expanded recreation room, numerous new offices, and expanded parking areas are just a few of the new renovations. The complex nearly tripled in size and has grown to service even more of the Tiffin University community.
