Cacioli, Central District Commander Meeting came to order at 6:14 pm with introductions around the room. Minutes: A quorum was not present, so the minutes were not voted on. Police Report: • • • • •
In Part 1 Crimes, there was a purse snatching and a burglary at 75 Pratt St. On 01/17 there was an attempted break in at 39 Front Street. A Reminder to keep your doors locked. There were 7 car breaks last month and 2 cars stolen at the Convention Center. There were 3 arrests at 55 Trumbull in a sting for drug activity. Winterfest ends this month and there have been no incidents.
Election of new members: • Paige Abrams left her post at the Bushnell and as such has resigned her board position. Most likely will be filled by someone at the Bushnell as hers is a non-profit seat. • Jodi Palerma is likely resigning. • Although there are two parties interested in the open Board seats, a vote could not be taken as there was no quorum. Guest Speaker: Sharon Steinle of Harriet Beecher Stowe Center • Discussed the home and Stowe’s work and philosophies • Free guided tours for Hartford residents • They are looking for volunteers for their annual 24-hour reading of her book Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Each reading slot is 10 minutes.

Development of property at SW corner of Buckingham and Hudson by Noble Gas: • A handout from Noble Gas was provided, which included architectural drawings. Threestory structure with retail, apartments, gas pumps. • Brief history of the property by R. Zaleski • Noble and the property owner are looking for a letter of support from SoDo to share with permitting agencies, zoning, etc. • Extensive discussion ensued; a list of caveats was drafted. Further discussion and perhaps a field trip to the location are warranted. Progressive Dinner Update: • This year’s dinner will be Saturday, 02/20. Hosts are still needed. • Money raised goes to restoration of Buckingham Square Park. Other news: • The MDC construction on Capitol Ave. is temporarily halted until the insurance company meets with area residents to ascertain potential damage done to foundations. • There will be a fundraiser for the St. Patrick’s parade on 01/31 from 2 – 6 pm at the Polish National Home. • There will be a presentation on dual-language teaching on 02/04 at 11:40 am at 210 Capitol Ave. Meeting adjourned 7:46pm Submitted by R.
