Petersen Meeting came to order at 6:01 PM with introductions around the room. Police Report: A. DeMain presented • Ran numbers for 1 month prior (“August 17 – present”) • Includes North District, Asylum Hill, West End and Downtown • Overall incidents down 11% • Car break-ins are exception: up in prior month (3 alone on Capitol Avenue) • There are 14 new officers currently in field training • Additional stats can be found online at www.Hartford.gov • To report non-emergency situations, call (860) 757-4000 Fire Report: L Thompson presented city-wide dispatch and HFD activity statistics for the past month. Overall calls are down YTD. The #1 cause of home fires in the city is unattended cooking. Neighborhood Updates: • SoDo NRZ President Robin Zaleski discussed status of Ramón Quiroz park (“Hartford Decides” grant: $1.25M); Robin also addressed HD’s desire for 6-month ad-hoc committee to get the word out, get people to sign up for plots, and coordinate acquisition of land and development of garden. • Buckingham Square Park remains padlocked, the result (apparently) of grounds keeping employee’s frustration with dog waste. • MDC Project: new sewer pipe installation from Whitman Court across Buckingham properties slated to be finished mid-October • Ali Jackson of Eversource announced a community light bulb swap Sunday, October 2nd
