PATER NOSTER – A HOME ON THE HORIZON Pater Noster is the lighthouse built in 1868 on the small, barren and windblown island Hamneskär, between Marstrand and Tjörn. Here you can book a unique experience at the award-winning design hotel with an overnight stay and shellfish fresh from the sea. The luxurious hotel in the old lighthouse keeper’s lodge opened in summer 2020. One of the owners, Erik Nissen Johansen, says that “luxury” is a word whose meaning has changed a lot during the past 25 years. ¬– Today, luxury is more of a poetic experience. Out here, we live on nature’s premises and harvest the island’s treasures: seaweed, flowers and shellfish. KNOWN ALL ACROSS THE WORLD After careful renovation, the old lighthouse keeper’s lodge has been transformed into an award-winning hotel - thanks to the design agency Stylt Trampoli. With 30 years’ global experience they won first prize in one of the world’s biggest competitions – Gold Key Awards 2020. British newspaper The Telegraph awarded Pater Noster the most exciting newly opened 46

accommodation in 2020 and recently they were given the prize of world’s best hotel concept. The lighthouse keeper’s lodge has nine beautifully designed rooms with comfortable beds. If you like a high ceiling, try the best room of the summer: the bed outside on a cliff with the starry sky as the ceiling. The hotel’s interior and art are inspired by the history of the place, which makes the experience even more special and one of the world’s most spectacular hotels you can spend a night in. Don’t miss out on climbing 32 metres up to the top of the impressive lighthouse completely made of steel and iron with an amazing view over the island: the seals on their favourite rocks, the sea and the horizon. During the summer months you can enjoy good food and fika in the café in the old boathouse. The island uses de-salted and filtered sea water, and the coffee comes from a small coffee roastery in Gothenburg. You can relax in the salty sea, the heated hot tubs and in the lovely sauna.
