Life’s Worth Celebrating!

indi Linscombe, owner of Something New in Colorado Springs, Colorado, knows what it is like to be disappointed as a bride.
a real customer standing there in the store. I eventually found my gown, but had to go to great lengths -- even out of state -- to find the experience for which I had hoped.”
Her frustrating experience led her and her husband, Jordan, to open their store to create a better experience for brides and to ensure that no other bride would go through what she did.
Since Something New opened in 2008, thousands of brides all across the country have flocked to the beautiful store. Brides tell us that they come not only for a beautiful and quality gown in a stunning setting, but for the “Something New experience.”
“When I searched for my own bridal gown for my wedding, it started off as a very disappointing experience,” says Mindi. “Many of the places I went treated me like a number of blatantly cared more about their dresses than they did me,
Brides come to Something new rather than somewhere else because they know they will be celebrated, treated with personal attention, and find exactly what they want for their big day. “My experience at Something New was amazing,” recent bride Christy says. “As soon as my mom and I walked in the door, they had smiling faces and were completely engaging. My consultant was wonderful and made me feel like I was the only one there. I was from out-of-state, like completely across the country, and she didn’t even flinch. When I initially tried on “my dress,” but felt I needed some time to mull in over, there was absolutely no pressure! As soon as I walked back in their doors to officially make it real, they were so excited for me. All the staff members were amazing; they worked as a team helping each other when one of them had questions. I even heard one of them say, ‘I wear my iWatch so when one of my brides has a question, they text me and I can get right back to them.’ Amazing customer service in my mind! Thank you for making this such a great experience!”

As a recently engaged bride, the home to Colorado’s greatest bridal experience invites you to make an appointment where you can see what brides from all over are raving about: the brand new 10,000 square foot building, elegant lighting, the personal bridal suits and stylists, and a truly celebratory boutique experience that puts the bride first. This season, Something New’s exclusive in-house line, the Brooklyn Grace collection, features brand new styles and fresh looks that were hand-picked by Mindi and the team. Curated by Mindi, the Brooklyn Grace collection was inspired by the birth of her daughter, Brooklyn Grace Linscombe, born after three boys. “Over the years, I have gleaned tremendous insight into what brides really want by going through a process of alterations and sketching gowns side by side with brides,” says Mindi. “I have used that knowledge to create this amazing collection of gowns that I would love for my own daughter to wear! This experience has allowed my team and I to put together an incredible collection of designs and styles we love, for ourselves and our own daughters.”
Brooklyn Grace collection will allow brides to give back through The Exodus Road, Compassion International, and Colorado Children’s Hospital. The Exodus Road is dedicated to the rescue and restoration of girls, boys, women, and men who are victims of human trafficking in some of the most vulnerable countries around the world. Compassion International aims to positively impact longterm development of children living in poverty through child sponsorship and humanitarian aid. Children’s Hospital Colorado is one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation and has a very special personal connection with the Something New family. “I am so blessed to be able to contribute to and be a part of the missions of these organizations, says Mindi. “We’re excited to be able to give back to such noble causes. I invite you to learn more about what they do at www.
“Throughout the last year, my team and I have been hard at work selecting designs for the 2021 Brooklyn Grace Collection,” continues Mindi. “I know you’ll love it as much as we do. The designs are gorgeous, and the dresses are high-quality. I have worked hard to put my own unique touches on every single style.” In addition to being a hand-selected private collection, a portion of the proceeds from each dress sold from the 3 | SOMETHING NEW
theexodusroad.com, www.compassion.com, and www. childrenscolorado.org.” The 2021 Brooklyn Grace Collection will feature a wonderful balance of classic and simple looks, destination gown options, and daring yet elegant gowns with cathedrallength trains. “After my daughter was born, I kept thinking about the fact that every bride is someone’s daughter,” says Mindi. “I want the very best for my own daughter, and I wanted this collection to reflect that. Every bride, every daughter, deserves to feel so loved, treasured, and special on their day.” There are many amazing wedding professionals who have worked hard to help tell the Brooklyn Grace story! The beautiful pictures of 2021 Brooklyn Grace gowns you see in this magazine are the result of a hand-picked team of incredible talent. Tina Joiner Photography worked with us to create these amazing images at The Lodge At Cathedral Pines. Through snow, freezing temperatures, and a pandemic we were able to capture some spectacular moments in these gorgeous dresses! Mindi invites you to come and see this stunning collection in person.

4 Reasons Why You May Choose A Less Expensive Bridal Store 24 | SOMETHING NEW
1
You’re Afraid You Won’t Be A Priority With Our Consultants
Given that our store is one of the largest and most highly recommended bridal salons in Colorado, you might think that you’ll fall through the cracks or be just a number because we work with so many brides. Many brides think they can get a better selection from a large box retailer or a more personalized service from a smaller, less successful boutique. The reality is that you can have both! At Something New, our goal is to celebrate you and help you find your wedding dress from the literal hundreds of options we have in all sizes with our fun and easy bridal experience. You’ve already got so much going on with your wedding planning that another standard appointment and more hassle isn’t what you’re looking for. What you need is a personal bridal stylist who is an impeccably focused and trained bridal expert, someone who listens, AND someone who really cares about getting to know your wants and needs regarding what you’ll wear when you say “I do.” You won’t have to compromise with amazing selection AND personalized service. There’s no
need to sacrifice because you’re dealing with one of America’s top bridal retailers, and every highly trained member of our team is focused on giving you the VIP treatment you deserve. Don’t just take our word for it. Consider what recent bride Rosilynn Willardson said about her experience at our store. “When I walked into your store, I didn’t think I’d find anything,” Rosilynn said. “I am very picky, and I wanted something simple but elegant. I had been to many other stores and found things that came close but weren’t “The Dress.” My stylist was extremely nice and quick even though she was with another bride that day. After a few, though, I became discouraged, but my ever-cheerful stylist said there was one last dress she knew I’d love. I tried it on, and as soon as I stepped in front of the mirror, I knew it was “The Dress.” It was simple, elegant, and I looked amazing in it. To make it even better, it was under budget! I am so glad I went to your store to get my perfect wedding dress! I can’t wait to wear it on my big day!” 25 | SOMETHING NEW

You’ve Heard From A Friend That A Certain Store Gives Crazy Discounts And Deals To Brides If You Ask Them
We certainly understand the temptation to give business to a friend or to another store you may have already been to, especially if that store has offered to cut their price to give you a deal. To be blunt, there’s no point in wasting your time or ours attempting to negotiate prices -- we don’t discount the price of our dresses. If you have already been to another store, and they’ve offered you a big discounted price, here are three cautions you’ll want to keep in mind: First, any store that cuts prices must also cut and compromise the service and the quality of the overall experience they can provide at their store, and that means less for you in the long run. Second, any store that cuts their prices reveals a mindset about how they sell. It suggests that they will be quickly and easily willing to reduce the other benefits you may get when you buy your dress from them.
Third, any bridal store that is discounting their prices significantly must really need the business, and that may tell you something about how happy his or her brides really are and the small number of individuals who refer their friends and family to come to their store and buy from them. At our store, over 75% of all brides who buy from us are the direct result of an invitation or referral from a friend or family member. With these things in mind, you should very thoroughly question any bridal store about their experience, how many referrals they get, and how varied the prices are between what is priced and what is actually sold. Your wedding gown isn’t just any dress. It is probably the most important formal gown you will ever wear. It is a significant purchase, and you don’t want to be pushed into it or settle for something simply because of an over-promising retailer who just can’t deliver on what they’re selling. Please don’t make this mistake.
3
You think that all bridal stores are basically the same, and do basically the same thing
We hope after reviewing this magazine and discovering all of the differences about our store, that you’ll understand how untrue that statement really is. Certainly, all bridal stores sell wedding dresses in the same broad, general sense. But this is like saying all doctors and hospitals do basically the same things. However, there are certain hospitals with a much higher success rate with heart operations than other hospitals. There are doctors whom affluent, knowledgeable patients travel great distances to see, and there are doctors who struggle to get enough patients to barely make out a living in their hometowns. We have engineered our entire approach on selling wedding gowns to attract brides who have a profound preference for “the best,” -- for having the
most respected, qualified, and capable professionals handle every detail in preparation for their wedding. These same individuals are the brides, who if they have a medical need, they seek out the best doctor, not just any doctor. If this describes you, then you know very well that all bridal stores simply cannot be the same. So, for the most important gown you may ever wear, we invite you to seek out and choose the most experienced and successful team of bridal stylists you can.
4
It doesn’t matter what kind of bridal stylist helps me find my dress -- I pretty much know what i want anyway
Very honestly, it may be true that you know exactly what you’re looking for, or feel that you can find your dress on your own without any help. Obviously, if you are certain about what you’re looking for, we want to help you find your dream dress as soon as we possibly can. However, there can be a very big difference between finding a wedding gown and finding the perfect wedding gown that will fit perfectly to your figure. Experience and a successful track record of helping literally thousands of brides find a dress that perfectly sculpts to their figure is something you’ll really appreciate.
find these thrilled brides’ own comments and stories on our website or review platforms like Google, WeddingWire, or The Knot. Given these four reasons you are now probably considering, we hope that you’ll schedule an appointment with one of our caring and expert bridal stylists to help you find your dress. In helping thousands of brides over the years to find their dream dress, we’ve identified the following key factors that our best brides share: •
A preference for working with the most professional experts in the industry
•
A willingness to listen to suggestions and to consider expert advice
•
Greatly values their own time
•
Appreciates a systematic approach to narrowing down and finding the perfect dress
•
Understands that the purchase of a wedding dress is a critically important decision that should be carefully and expertly handled
•
Arrives at their decision in a thoughtful manner and says “yes to the dress” when the moment is right

We’ll be happy to answer any of your questions and help prepare you for an experience you’ll always treasure and never forget.
The experience and successful track record of a bridal stylist really does matter. Here’s why: you not only want to find a beautiful wedding dress for your big day, but you want it to fit you perfectly and stun all of the guests at your wedding. You want to find the perfect dress efficiently, without being embroiled in messy details that will cause you unnecessary frustration and stress, which will disrupt your life and wedding planning. FIRST LOOK MOMENT It was one of the most beautiful moments I can remember, when my love saw me in my dress for the first time! We decided to take “first look” photos before the ceremony in order to save some time before the reception. MY BRIDESMAIDS!! My bridesmaids were absolutely drop dead gorgeous in their unique dresses. My color palette was a range of bright yellows and oranges, which reminded me of sunshine! All of their dresses were a different style and color, but it came together more beautifully than I had dreamed! REMOVABLE SLEEVES I had sleeves created to attach to my wedding dress. The lace cuffs of my sleeves were taken from the sleeves of my Mama’s wedding dress, which was my “something old” (pairing beautifully with my “Something New” dress!) HIS TUX! He surprised me by wearing an orange suit jacket for our wedding! I wasn’t expecting my groom to have such a bold pop of color, but it was one of my favorite surprises of the whole wedding! CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER One of the best moments from this special day is when all of our bridal party, family, and friends joined in a congregational blessing and prayer. Our bridal party laid their hands on us, and we could truly feel the presence and approval of God!

FAMILY & FRIENDS I loved having our closest friends and family members all together in one place for our special day. It was heartwarming to look around and see all of the love in the same room. These are the people we care about most, and it was an amazing feeling to know that these people traveled, no matter how far, to support us.
FEELING EXCEPTIONALLY BEAUTIFUL I felt exceptionally beautiful on my wedding day! My beauty team was amazing and went above and beyond to bring my vision to life. Getting ready in the bridal suite the day of the wedding was stress free, and it was so fun to see my girls also get their hair and makeup done. Ashley Taylor Photography
THE PLANNING I am a huge planner, so I loved the planning process. We booked our venue, the Pinery at the Hill, about 23 months in advance! The planning was super easy with The Pinery, and the icing on the cake was that the package we booked with The Pinery came with a wedding coordinator. I enjoyed all the aspects from the food and cake tasting, decor and floral planning, and planning the schedule for the day! MY WEDDING DRESSES I LOVED my wedding dresses. From the moment I stepped into Something New Boutique and was greeted by Kristi, I knew I was going to find my dress here! I even had 4 to 5 appointments set up the next day in Denver and ended up canceling them all after finding my dream dress. I explained the type of dress I wanted, and the second dress I tried on was the ONE! Then when I came back a few months later to pick out bridesmaid dresses, I let Kristi know that I wanted a sexy dress (hehe) for the reception. Again, I only had to try on 2 to 3 dresses, and I found the perfect one. This is an experience I will always cherish. I’m grateful to have had such a great experience, and I really felt like family.

MY HUSBAND!! Last, but not least, my husband Jeseph is what I LOVE most about my wedding day. Leading up to the wedding day, I was a little worried that I wouldn’t get enough time with him. However, the ceremony and reception went on without a hitch. We exchanged gifts, had a beautiful first look together, and it was the best day of my life. About two weeks before the wedding, we decided to have a choreographed first dance, and I just loved these special moments we had. 29 | SOMETHING NEW

MARRYING MY BEST FRIEND AT THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH
BRIDE, KASSIE
Disney has held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember. To be able to marry my best friend there makes Disney World even more special to me and to us. We will be able to go back every year, and one day, show our children where we were married.happy and felt so much love and support from everyone in attendance. GREEK CROWNING CEREMONY Greek heritage is very important to me. To be able to include my husband in a Greek tradition at our wedding meant the world to me. Being crowned “King and Queen” of our household and being United through the crowns was such a special moment that we will treasure forever.
“FIRST TOUCH” The morning of our wedding, we had a “first touch”. We did not want to see each other until it was time for me to walk down the aisle, but we did have photos taken for our first touch. I absolutely LOVED this. Our photographer backed us up into each other so that we could talk and hold hands for just a few minutes before it was time to say “I do”. This was amazing and put all of my nerves at ease with just the sound of my, at the time, soon-to-be husband. FEELING LIKE A REAL PRINCESS Disney did a phenomenal job at EVERYTHING, including making me feel like a real princess. Everything from the Cinderella Carriage taking me to the aisle, to the majordomo bringing our rings down the aisle in an actual glass slipper made our day even more special. We were even announced as Prince Charming and Cinderella, “Mr. and Mrs. Dillie” into our wedding reception.
OUR PRIVATE PHOTO SHOOT INSIDE THE MAGIC KINGDOM Last, but absolutely not least, was being able to be inside the Magic Kingdom with just our photographer and videographer. Being right in front of Cinderella’s Castle in my dream wedding dress with my real life Prince Charming was better than anything I had ever dreamed of as a little girl. This was truly a once in a lifetime moment and really topped off our Disney Fairytale Wedding.

GETTING READY WITH MY GIRLS AND PUTTING ON THE DRESS I got my hair and makeup done with my Mother, Grandmother, and maid of honor. My mother buttoned my dress and helped me with the accessories, it was picture perfect! There is also nothing like finally putting on your wedding dress and seeing yourself in the mirror for the first time, I felt like a princess in my gown. WALKING DOWN THE AISLE WITH MY FATHER Walking down the Cathedral aisle was a moment I pictured since I was a little girl. My father gave me his blessing, and he helped calm my nerves. Walking down with my father was a magical moment I will always remember.

SEEING MY HUSBAND FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE ALTAR Seeing my husband for the first time in my wedding dress was a very emotional moment for both of us. My husband was at a loss for words to see me in my big sparkly gown! HAVING ALL OUR CLOSEST FAMILY MEMBERS BE A PART OF OUR DAY We originally planned to invite 250+ guests to our wedding, but due to COVID-19, we were only able to invite our immediate family to our wedding. Of course, we were sad about not having everyone there on our day, but we were also very grateful to be able to have our closest family members there. We had a very small and intimate wedding, which in many ways made the day even more special than we had pictured. BECOMING ONE IN GOD’S PRESENCE We had a very traditional Catholic ceremony with the help of our Priest at the beautiful St. Mary’s Cathedral. Both my husband and I grew up in religious homes, and it was very special to take communion together and receive God’s Blessing. We had a Mexican/Lebanese wedding, and we incorporated cultural traditions from each culture into the ceremony. 31 | SOMETHING NEW

THE ANATOMY OF A
Tuxedo Style. Color. Formality
Will Your Day Be Formal, Informal, Colorful, Classic, Trendy, Or Modern? The Style Of Your Wedding Will Play An Important Role In What You Choose For Your Men’s Formal Wear. FIT Choosing the right fit for the right body type is so important. Most men nowadays opt for the slim-fit tuxedo for a more modern and tailored look. The Traditional fit is more boxy, and then the Ultra Slim fit is the most trendy.
SHIRTS Shirts provide another opportunity to add character to your wedding day attire. The basic color for shirts are while and ivory, which should be based off the brides wedding dress. Microfiber material is the latest most popular material today providing a very smooth texture and feel and often many color options. The sleeve should be a little longer than your jacket to allow a little sliver of the shirt and cuff links to show.
THE JACKET The Jacket a very important piece to your tuxedo look. The build of the groom and wedding party should be one major factor on which you base your decision.
TIES Ties come in many different styles, patterns, and colors. Bow ties are typically more classic and formal and are often a solid color. The windsor tie has become increasingly popular in recent years. Typically, the groom’s tie will match the color of the bridal gown, while the groomsmen’s will match the bridesmaids’ dresses.
LAPEL Peak lapel is most common and traditional. While the Notch Lapel is most popular, most rentals have this. The Shawl Lapel is very traditional but not the best choice for rounder bodies.
SOCKS
CUFF LINKS & STUDS Cuff links and Studs give your shirt a very polished look. The style of your wedding should be kept in mind when picking out all accessories.
ACCESSORIES
Wear long dress socks to avoid showing any skin when you sit. A lot of men these days choose the socks to express their unique style and personality with different patterns and colors.
POCKET SQUARES Pocket Squares are a great way to add a splash of color to your tux jacket. Many people match the pocket square with the tie they have chosen.
Accessories put the finishing touches on your whole wedding day look. You may choose to have the men in your wedding wear neither a vest nore cummerbund if you are going for a more casual look.
THE TROUSERS SHOES Shoes should be the last thing you pick out. You should only pick shoes that match once you have the rest of the tux all figured out.

The trousers for the tuxedo jacket will be determined somewhat by the jacket you’ve selected. In general, the same style and color trousers should be worn throughout the men in the wedding party.
