Cheers!

EDITOR'S LETTER

Dear friend!

It’s a special time in someone’s life to celebrate and plan a wedding! Sixteen years ago, Jordan and I opened Something New with a heart for helping brides and their families make a memorable and meaningful experience shopping for their special day. We want to make sure every person who walks through the doors at Something New feels served, celebrated, and deeply cared for – that’s our team’s focus.

Now, are you ready to find the most beautiful and special gown you will ever wear during our one-of-a-kind shopping experience with a specialized bridal stylist? Each of the gowns you will see in our collection have been carefully selected and crafted with you in mind. Every one of our dresses is constructed from the finest fabrics to flatter your figure and have you look and feel your best on your wedding day.

We have been told time and time again that not only do our brides love our dresses, but even more, they love the way we take care of them in our store...where life’s worth celebrating! As the owner of Something New, I want to personally invite you to schedule a visit or come on into our store and let us show you what it means to be a “Something New Bride”.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Mindi Linscombe

Life’s Worth Celebrating!

Mindi Linscombe, owner of Something New in Colorado Springs, Colorado, knows what it is like to be disappointed as a bride.

Her frustrating experience led her and her husband, Jordan, to open their store to create a better experience for brides and to ensure that no other bride would go through what she did.

“When I searched for my own bridal gown for my wedding, it started off as a very disappointing experience,” says Mindi. “Many of the places I went treated me like a number or blatantly cared more about their dresses than they did me,

a real customer standing there in the store. I eventually found my gown, but had to go to great lengths — even out of state — to find the experience for which I had hoped.”

Since Something New opened in 2008, thousands of brides all across the country have flocked to the beautiful store. Brides tell us that they come not only for a beautiful and quality gown in a stunning setting, but for the “Something New experience.”

Brides come to Something New rather than somewhere else because they know they will be celebrated, treated with personal attention, and find exactly what they want for their big day.

“My experience at Something New was amazing,” bride Christy says. “As soon as my mom and I walked in the door, they had smiling faces and were completely engaging. My consultant was wonderful and made me feel like I was the only one there. I was from out-of-state, like completely across the country, and she didn’t even flinch. When I initially tried on “my dress,” but felt I needed some time to mull it over, there was absolutely no pressure! As soon as I walked back in their doors to officially make it real, they were so excited for me. All the staff members were amazing; they worked as a team helping each other when one of them had questions. I even heard one of them say, ‘I wear my Apple Watch so when one of my brides has a question, they text me and I can get right back to them.’ Amazing customer service in my mind! Thank you for making this such a great experience!”

As a recently engaged bride, the home to Colorado’s greatest bridal experience invites you to make an appointment where you can see what brides from all over are raving about: the new and beautiful 10,000 square foot building with panoramic mountain views, elegant lighting, the personal stylists and bridal suites, and a truly celebratory shopping experience that puts the bride first.

This season, Something New’s exclusive in-house line, the Brooklyn Grace Collection, features brand new styles and fresh looks that were hand-picked by Mindi and the team. Curated by Mindi, the Brooklyn Grace Collection was inspired by the birth of her daughter, Brooklyn Grace Linscombe, born after three boys.

“Over the years, I have gleaned tremendous insight into what brides really want by going through a process of alterations and sketching gowns side by side with brides,” says Mindi. “I have used that knowledge to create this amazing collection of gowns that I would love for my own daughter to wear! This experience has allowed my team and I to put together an incredible collection of designs and styles we love, for ourselves and our own daughters.”

“Throughout the last year, my team and I have been hard at work selecting designs for the 2024 Brooklyn Grace Collection,” continues Mindi. “I know you’ll love it as much as we do. The designs are gorgeous, and the dresses are high-quality. I have worked hard to put my own unique touches on every single style.”

In addition to being a hand-selected exclusive collection, a portion of the proceeds from each dress sold from the Brooklyn Grace Collection is donated to the Something New Foundation - a new philanthropy by Something New - allowing brides to give back to some incredible causes. The Something New Foundation primarily focuses on giving away scholarship money to brides that are leaders in our community – each year donating thousands of dollars to provide assistance to their education.

In previous years, Something New has partnered with Compassion International which aims to positively impact long-term development of children living in poverty through child sponsorship and humanitarian aid. Something New has also partnered with Children’s Hospital Colorado, one of the top children’s hospitals in the nation, which has a very special personal connection with the Something New family.

“I am so blessed to have been able to contribute to and be a part of the missions of these organizations,” says Mindi. “We’re excited to be able to give back to such noble causes.”

The 2024 Brooklyn Grace Collection will feature a wonderful balance of classic looks, destination gown options, and daring yet elegant gowns with cathedral-length trains and hand beading.

“After my daughter was born, I kept thinking about the fact that every bride is someone’s daughter,” says Mindi. “I want the very best for my own daughter, and I wanted this collection to reflect that. Every bride, every daughter, deserves to feel so loved, treasured, and special on their day.”

There are many amazing wedding professionals who have worked hard to help tell the Brooklyn Grace story! The beautiful pictures of 2024 Brooklyn Grace gowns you see in this magazine are the result of a hand-picked team of incredible talent. Tina Joiner Photography worked with us to create these amazing images right here in the Something New showroom. Hello Sunshine Creatives and Sweetwater Flower Market added lots of extra special details and flare with their balloon design and floral artistry!

Mindi invites you to come and see this stunning collection in person.

The Brooklyn Grace Collection pulls from Mindi’s personal experience in being a bride and her experience working with so many wonderful brides at Something New, carefully listening to what brides of all ages and body types want for their big day. To see the new line, please call us or visit online to schedule your appointment!

“I can hardly wait for you to come in to see these new looks on you and your friends,” says Mindi. “We look forward to getting to know you and hearing about the current chapter of your unique wedding story. Also, if you know someone engaged, please be sure to share this story with them!”

Mindi and all the stylists at Something New find great satisfaction in helping brides find the perfect dress that will bring out their confidence and beauty. FOUNDATION

A philanthropy by Something New

In this inaugural year, Mindi and Jordan want the Something New Foundation to support the development of others – women in particular! That is something they’re already so passionate about and living out with the Something New team each day. Every girl on the team has grown so much and continues to develop. That’s something they’re very proud of as a company! Now, they want to help other women in the community rise to the top and reach their own goals.

Mindi has always had her line of Brooklyn Grace wedding dresses give back to great causes, and she views the annual Cheers Bridal Show as a philanthropic event. It has been very special to partner with outstanding organizations (like Compassion International & Children’s Hospital Colorado) throughout the years. In this next season, she wants to give back even more directly to the community, and women and young ladies in the region. At Something New, we believe “Life’s Worth Celebrating” and this Foundation will contribute to life changing moments and development opportunities worth celebrating, as well.

The Brooklyn Grace Collection is a Something New exclusive, designed & curated by owner Mindi Linscombe–and named after her only daughter. Mindi’s heart is to care for every daughter as her own — helping them know they are special, unique, and deserving of the best. A portion of the proceeds from every dress in the line is contributed to the Something New Foundation to help with scholarship & development opportunities for women and young ladies. Brides can walk down the aisle in their beautiful Brooklyn Grace gown knowing they are helping someone in the Colorado Springs community – or across the globe – have the best opportunity to achieve their dreams and celebrate moments in life.

THE ANATOMY OF A

Tuxedo

Style. Color. Formality

Will Your Day Be Formal, Informal, Colorful, Classic, Trendy, Or Modern?

SHIRTS

Shirts provide another opportunity to add character to your wedding day attire. The basic colors for shirts are white and ivory, which should be based off the bride’s wedding dress.

Black shirts are rising in popularity though! Microfiber material is the most common material today providing a very smooth texture and feel and often many color options. Traditionally, the sleeve is a little longer than your jacket to allow a little sliver of the shirt and cuff links to show, but this isn’t mandatory!

TIES

Ties come in many different styles, patterns, and colors. Bow ties are typically more classic and formal and are often a solid color. The windsor tie has become increasingly popular in recent years. Traditionally, the groom’s tie will match the color of the bridal gown or his suit, while the groomsmen’s will match the bridesmaids’ dresses. However, more grooms these days are choosing to have their tie be a pop of color as well.

CUFF LINKS & STUDS

Cuff links and Studs give your shirt a very polished look. The style of your wedding should be kept in mind when picking out all accessories.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories put the finishing touches on your whole wedding day look. If you are going for a more casual look, you may choose to have the men in your wedding wear neither a vest nor a cummerbund. Traditionally, a cummerbund is the most formal accessory, but most menswear parties these days are opting for a vest even if the wedding is formal.

SHOES

Shoes should be the last thing you pick out. You should only pick shoes that match once you have the rest of the look all figured out.

The Style Of Your Wedding Will Play An Important Role In What You Choose For Your Men’s Formalwear.

FIT

Choosing the right fit for the right body type is so important. Most men nowadays opt for the Slim Fit tuxedo for a more modern and tailored look. The Traditional Fit is more boxy, and then the Ultra Slim Fit is the most trendy.

THE JACKET

The Jacket is a very important piece to your tuxedo look. The build of the groom and wedding party should be one major factor on which you base your decision. You also want to keep in mind the overall fit you’re wanting when selecting your jacket.

LAPEL

Peak lapel is the most most traditional. The Notch Lapel, however, is most popular and what most rentals have. The Shawl Lapel is very traditional and formal, but it’s not the best choice for rounder bodies.

POCKET SQUARES

Pocket Squares are a great way to add a splash of color to your tux or suit jacket. Many people match the pocket square with the tie they have chosen. Pocket squares are also a great keepsake!

THE TROUSERS

The trousers for the tuxedo jacket will be determined somewhat by the jacket you’ve selected. For example, traditional and boxy pants will not pair well with a slim fit jacket. In general, the same style and color trousers should be worn throughout the men in the wedding party.

SOCKS

Wear long dress socks to avoid showing any skin when you sit. A lot of men these days choose the socks to express their unique style and personality with different patterns and colors. There’s also a rising trend of noshow socks with slim fit pants.

4 Reasons Why You May Choose A Less Expensive Bridal Store

1

You’re Afraid You Won’t Be A Priority With Our Consultants

Given that our store is one of the largest and most highly recommended bridal stores in Colorado, you might think that you’ll fall through the cracks or be just a number because we work with so many brides. Many brides think they can get a better selection from a large box retailer or a more personalized service from a smaller, less successful boutique.

The reality is that you can have both in one place! At Something New, our goal is to celebrate you and help you find your wedding dress from the literal hundreds of options we have in ALL sizes with our fun and easy bridal experience. You’ve already got so much going on with your wedding planning that another standard appointment and more hassle isn’t what you’re looking for.

What you need is a personal bridal stylist who is an impeccably focused and trained bridal expert, someone who listens, AND someone who really cares about getting to know your wants and needs regarding what you’ll wear when you say “I do.”

You won’t have to compromise with amazing selection AND personalized service. There’s no need to sacrifice because you’re dealing with one of America’s top bridal retailers, and every highly trained member of our team is focused on giving you the VIP treatment you deserve.

Don’t just take our word for it. Consider what bride Rosilynn Willardson said about her experience at our store.

“When I walked into your store, I didn’t think I’d find anything,” Rosilynn said. “I am very picky, and I wanted something simple but elegant. I had been to many other stores and found things that came close but weren’t “The Dress.” My stylist was extremely nice and quick even though she was with another bride that day. After a few, though, I became discouraged, but my ever-cheerful stylist said there was one last dress she knew I’d love. I tried it on, and as soon as I stepped in front of the mirror, I knew it was “The Dress.” It was simple, elegant, and I looked amazing in it. To make it even better, it was under budget! I am so glad I went to your store to get my perfect wedding dress! I can’t wait to wear it on my big day!”

You’ve Heard From A Friend That A Certain Store Gives Crazy Discounts And Deals To Brides If You Ask Them

We certainly understand the temptation to give business to a friend or to another store you may have already been to, especially if that store has offered to cut their price to give you a deal. To be blunt, there’s no point in wasting your time or ours attempting to negotiate prices -- we don’t discount the price of our dresses.

If you have already been to another store, and they’ve offered you a big discounted price, here are three cautions you’ll want to keep in mind:

First, any store that cuts prices must also cut and compromise the service and the quality of the overall experience they can provide at their store, and that means less for you in the long run.

Second, any store that cuts their prices reveals a mindset about how they sell. It suggests that they will be quickly and easily willing to reduce the other benefits you may get when you buy your dress from them.

Third, any bridal store that is discounting their prices significantly must really need the business — and that may tell you something about how happy its brides really are and the small number of individuals who refer friends and family to go there and purchase. At our store, over 75% of all brides who buy from us are the direct result of an invitation or referral from a friend or family member.

With these things in mind, you should research thoroughly and question any bridal store about their experience, how many referrals they get, and how varied the prices are between what is priced and what is actually sold.

Your wedding gown isn’t just any dress. It is probably the most important formal gown you will ever wear. It is a significant purchase, and you don’t want to be pushed into it or settle for something simply because of an over-promising retailer who just can’t deliver on what they’re selling or the experience you deserve. Please don’t make this mistake.

You think that all bridal stores are basically the same, and do basically the same thing 3

We hope after reviewing this magazine and discovering all of the differences about our store, that you’ll understand how untrue that statement really is.

Certainly, all bridal stores sell wedding dresses in the same broad, general sense. But this is like saying all doctors and hospitals do basically the same things. However, there are certain hospitals with a much higher success rate with heart operations than other hospitals. There are doctors whom affluent, knowledgeable patients travel great distances to see, and there are doctors who struggle to get enough patients to barely make out a living in their hometowns.

We have engineered our entire approach on selling wedding gowns to attract brides who have a profound preference for “the best” — brides who want the most respected, qualified, and capable professionals to handle every detail in preparation for their wedding. These same brides and the individuals who, if they have a medical need, look for the best doctor — not just any doctor. If this describes you, then you know very well that all bridal stores simply cannot be the same. So, for the most important gown you may ever wear, we invite you to seek out and choose the most experienced and successful team of bridal stylists you can.

It doesn’t matter what kind of bridal stylist helps me find my dress — I pretty much know what I want anyway

Very honestly, it may be true that you know exactly what you’re looking for, or feel that you can find your dress on your own without any help. Obviously, if you are certain about what you’re looking for, we can help you find your dream dress as soon as possible. However, there can be a very big difference between finding a wedding gown and finding the perfect wedding gown that will fit perfectly to your figure. Experience and a successful track record of helping literally thousands of brides find a dress that perfectly sculpts to their figure is something you’ll really appreciate.

The experience and successful track record of a bridal stylist really does matter. Here’s why: you not only want to find a beautiful wedding dress for your big day, but you want it to fit you perfectly and stun all of the guests at your wedding. You want to find the perfect dress efficiently, without being embroiled in messy details that will cause you unnecessary frustration and stress, which will disrupt your life and wedding planning. You want a smooth and easy experience. This is the kind of totally satisfying experience we pride ourselves on delivering to every bride who walks through our doors, evidenced by the thousands of very happy brides that our stylists have served over the past 16 years — and you can find these brides’ own comments and stories on our website or review platforms like Google, WeddingWire, or The Knot.

Given these four reasons you’re now probably considering, we hope that you’ll schedule an appointment with one of our caring and expert bridal stylists to help you find your dress.

In helping thousands of brides over the years to find their dream dress, we’ve identified the following key factors that our best brides share:

A preference for working with the most professional experts in the industry

• A willingness to listen to suggestions and to consider expert advice

• Greatly values their own time

• Understands they deserve the best experience

• Appreciates a systematic approach to narrowing down and finding the perfect dress

• Understands that the purchase of a wedding dress is a critically important decision that should be carefully and expertly handled

• Arrives at their decision in a thoughtful manner and says “yes to the dress” when the moment is right

If you feel like you are ready for the best experience you’ll ever have in shopping for any article of clothing (much less your beautiful wedding dress), simply call us and schedule an appointment. We’ll be happy to answer any of your questions and help prepare you for a memorable experience you’ll always treasure.

MY HUSBAND

My best friend and love of my life, Nathan, was the absolute BEST part of the day. Getting to celebrate our love and just soak everything in together after months of chaos was so blissful. He makes me feel like the most special girl in the world, and he’s such a remarkable man that I still can’t believe I get to love forever. I was just giddy all day knowing it was the start of the rest of our lives together.

MY DRESSES

It was pretty special getting to be a Something New Bride myself after serving and celebrating brides for the last several years as a Something New team member. I honestly didn’t know what it’d feel like to find my own dress, but Mindi and Sophia rolled out the red carpet for me and made me feel so special. I went into it knowing I wanted two looks (how could I not, right?) and I always loved the fitted gown that I wore for our reception from the day we received it in-store, but I was so surprised to fall in love with a fairytale ballgown, too! Mindi pulled this incredible, brand new ballgown, and I was skeptical at first, but you always have to trust the stylist -- and sure enough, it was the one! I loved the couture, timeless, and dreamy vibes of the gown and it was SO FUN to twirl and float around in all day!

Clark Miller Photography BRIDE, TAYLOR

We loved how family-oriented our wedding was. We’re both so close with our families, so having everyone be a part was so special. From our baby niece and nephew getting to throw petals down the aisle, to all our brothers, sisters, and their spouses being in our bridal party, to having our parents gather around us in prayer during the ceremony -- it was just a really deep and meaningful day with our families. And our guest list was just family plus friends who basically family, so it was an intimate, celebratory, and just perfect day.

4

OUR VENDOR TEAM

Through Something New, I’ve gotten to know and work with so many awesome wedding vendors through the years, so experiencing their magic as a bride was so fun and special! Clark Miller and Ruka were such a joy to have with us all day and made us feel like we were celebrating with best friends instead of just photographers -- not to mention our photos were so much more than we could’ve dreamed. Brandi and Jules from The Day made me feel the most beautiful I’ve ever felt. Sarah and Tori at the Flower Corner made my faux and live floral dreams come true beyond belief! All of our vendors really made the day so special and memorable. We just felt so lucky to have friends as our vendors who created magic on our wedding day.

VENUE

Our venue was so perfect for what we wanted. The Oaks had everything we hoped for -- the modern and clean design, but with super diverse spaces and stunning views and outdoor area for photos. We hardly had any decor and the space still was just so elegant. Our coordinator Anna was so awesome, and made everything pretty effortless and lowmaintenance for us which was such a blessing. Spending the day there felt like a mini vacay!

1

THE SURPRISES

We spent over a year of our lives planning every detail, relying on friends and family to help us make decisions in an effort to create the perfect wedding day. We felt like we had it planned down to a T, but the whole weekend ended up being full of unforgettable surprises. The speeches, an unexpected ode to grandparents during the ceremony, being iced during the first look and the Moroccan inspired bridal cape that no one knew about. It was the surprises that made our day more special than we ever could have planned..

2

OUR VOWS

Reading and writing vows was tough and nerve racking. Finding the right words to express our love to each other was difficult and time consuming, but in the end, it was the best part of our ceremony and such a memorable moment for us. Reflecting on our words to each other will always be such a special and emotional memory.

3 OUR GUESTS

There are not enough hours in one day to soak in the overwhelming feeling of love and support from friends and family. We had several happy attacks throughout the night from simply looking at our guests and seeing them interact with one another. The most humbling part was that they were all there for us. We will forever be grateful to our guests for the time they dedicated to us that weekend. Small tip; one day is not enough! We were thankful to have optional activities planned before and after our wedding.

FIRST LOOK

Originally we didn’t want to do a first look since we had always pictured walking down the aisle being our first look. With darkness setting in earlier in October, our planner really encouraged us to do a first look so we can spend more of the daylight together. So we did a first look and a private ceremony together. That was a moment where things truly settled in for us. We are actually doing this! We laughed, we cried, we touched, and we kissed. It took away our nerves to finally be with each other, and we are so thankful our planner gently nudged us in a direction to give us more “us” time.

OUR VENDORS

We are naturally planning people, but WOW planning a wedding is a whole new ball game. So many details you need to consider and plan for it’s hard to keep track! Thankfully we had the most incredible vendors for our day. All their recommendations and guidance were extremely thoughtful and by no means pushy. It was encouraging and motivating to hear them react to our nontraditional ideas with excitement and immediate acceptance. In the end, they ended up being our hype crew alongside our wedding party. Our day would not have been perfect without them.

RECEPTION

We loved our reception space because it was a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor space that helped guests fully experience the beauty of Black Forest.

CEREMONY

We also enjoyed the personalized ceremony options available at the venue, such as the plant potting ceremony and the memorial table featuring loved ones who had passed.

3

FAMILY AND FRIENDS

We loved having our closest family members and best friends be apart of our wedding party -- they brought the fun!

The sparklers entering and departing made us feel like stars in a movie production!

OUR COLORS

We absolutely loved detailing things with our favorite emerald and gold finishes for a beautiful elegant celebration.

MY DRESS!

Since the 6th grade, I have been curating Pinterest boards envisioning what my dream dress would look like someday -- I knew exactly what I wanted. I had a few friends who spoke so incredibly highly about Something New Boutique, so as soon as I got engaged that was the first place I made an appointment! It was only my mom and I because I was so certain I would not walk out with a dress from the first place I visited. I showed my consultant some photos of what I was looking for and the FIRST dress she pulled for me had my mom and me in tears -- I knew that was the one! I had never felt so beautiful and confident. It was the perfect dress for me, and who knows, maybe my daughter will have the honor of wearing it someday.

OUR FIRST LOOK

My husband and I went back and forth on whether or not we were going to have a first look or wait until the ceremony. We both wanted it to be an intimate moment between just the two of us, so we decided to have a first look, and boy I am happy we did. I felt intense butterflies waiting for him to turn around, and when he saw me, we both broke out in tears. It was truly the most special moment we have ever experienced as a couple and seeing his face when he saw me was something that will be engrained in my thoughts forever.

MY HUSBAND

From the moment I met Matt, I knew he was someone so incredibly special. His positivity, selflessness, and his outlook on life sets him apart, and I am still in shock to this day I get to spend the rest of my life with a man like him. If the younger me knew I ended up marrying my dream man, she would be over the moon. Our wedding day was the best day ever, and I feel so lucky to share my life with my best friend!

THE VENUE

Never have I been somewhere like The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs -- the beauty and scenery makes you feel like you are in a movie. Literally! The hotel has always held a special place in my family, and only in my wildest dreams I would get married there someday. My dreams came true! The Broadmoor made the process so seamless, and the staff made everyone feel so comfortable and welcomed. It is fun to think that in the future I will get to bring my kids back to The Broadmoor and get to share where mom and dad got married.

OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

We have family and friends across the country, and feeling the support and efforts that so many went through to celebrate us was so special. It doesn’t happen often that all the people you love are in one room. It was so much fun catching up with everyone and dancing the night away. I am incredibly close with my family and could not have made my dream wedding come to life without them. The perfect family, husband, and wedding made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world, and will be a day I will relive forever.
