It’s not only A M A N’S WO R L D!
Iwas very excited to learn more things about this beautiful system of the firefighters’ world. I was new for them and they were new for me, but both tried to accommodate with this reality where girls not only work from a desk, but also from a fire engine.

My name is Sabrina, I am a firefighter and I am the youngest girl from my detachment. I moved to Calafat one year ago and this was the biggest challenge of my life. I work with another 30 men, but don’t you think that’s easy. Despite the thing that I am the youngest, they are treating me like one of them when it’s about saving people’s life from fire, car accidents or any kind of dangerous situations.
My coworkers were not used with women on the ground, but I learned from them to be strong enough to not involve myself emotionally in the various cases that we face every shift. We see people dying, suffering, crying, with their hearts broken and we are always trying to do our best for them to be safe and healthy. There are also happy cases followed by a smile and a “Thank you so much!”. These two gestures fill our hearts and these kinds of situations are to tell our family. It does not exist any other reward for us than knowing that firstly, me and my coworkers are safe after a 112 call, and secondly, people that called are out of danger. I want to highlight the fact that firefighters are people too and they are risking their lives to save yours. Always.
