Athena - potential for a lino cut would like to develop an appropriate ate background perhaps tell a narrative? she’s a really interesting character.
To much monoprint texture & editing. Not sure i like this grainy effect anymore…used it last year you've moved past this now / too forced?
•
Calypsos - before my lino cut series begun - one of the greek mythology woman who captured my attention and inspired the whole series. - (right)
•
Calypso - colour experimentation (unfinished)
 - playing around with adding spots of colour o this pieces. Ideally I would have loved to have made her into a lino cut but don't currently have time. I would like to finish her digitally but perhaps develop a lino print series around her?
Calypso Another version of calypso. - this series was really useful when i was beginning to refine my digital skills. I refined my quality of line and begun to reflect the visual qualities of lino print - into my hand drawn work.
Calypso I was quite pleased with the finished result. I think it carries across a lot of the aesthetic of my lino.
perhaps I went too overboard with the texture and colour details and should keep these to a minimum. - let the line speak for itself as the linos do.
Harpy Female character from greek mythology that provided much visual inspiration for me. I enjoyed creating this expressive ink piece and it reminded me how much i love using this form of media. Perhaps I can incorporate it with my lino prints somehow? She has since inspired my final piece for ‘Woman Of Greek Mythology’
Persephone - goddess of the underworld. drawn delicately using brush pen and fine liners. - edited digitally keeping a dark and subdued tone. - experimented with incorporating subtle monoprint textures.
Persephone - final composition. - Persephone is a character that i was really interested in. and could have even been a potential addition to my woman of greek mythology set. - her story - trapped in the underworld for half the year affects the harvest. - She is one of my favourite images from this collection that I have created. - not perfect but i really like the line work and composition. - Strengths - my visual interpretation of the theme & compositional elements - the red sun representing the underworld also featuring as the sea within her head cutaway. ideally i would have like to have developed more characters to go along side her such as the zeus and athena - but that is something which i hope to return to.
Persephone -colour variations. I enjoyed playing around with colour and composition in photoshop. think the silhouette version is just as affective in some ways. - more haunting perhaps?
