Textual Analysis of two Digipaks Blanc Productions

Bruno Mars, Doo-Woops & Hooligans

The bold design with themes linking throughout the digipak is a key inspiration for my own digipak, especially the use of pops of colour.

Analysis 

Initially, the bright colour scheme of the digipak will catch the eye of the consumer.

The bright yellows of the packaging link to the artist’s genre of pop, as the songs included in the CD will most likely be upbeat to match the bright theme.

The contrasting black colour highlights the design of the cover as well as making it bolder to stand out on the shelf and encourages people to buy it.

I especially like how the colour scheme is reversed on the actual CD which keeps the theme but also links back to the artist Bruno Mars with the orange character in the corner.

The the colour and the songs are stereotypical of the pop genre which contrasts to the lack of any photo of the artist, as pop artists like to be as recognisable as possible.

Rihanna, Loud

Having the artists face as the main feature of the cover I feel is hugely impactful and inspires my own design ideas to make the artist more recognisable and compelling.

Analysis ď ľ

The main photo that draws the consumers eye to the digipak also immediately links to the pop genre as it allows the artist to become more recognisable.

ď ľ

The red colour scheme of her hair and lips initially connotes femininity and highlights the sexual objectification common in the pop genre. Catering to this sexual allure the cover will attract more consumers and create an image for the artist.

ď ľ

This sexual theme is carried throughout the design of the digipak with the roses on the cover of the CD and the pose the artist is making on more roses. The roses are a stereotypical image of lust and adds to the feminine look of the digipak. The sensual pose across the entire inside cover speaks for itself suggesting why there is little wording on the inside or across the entire design.
