WATERFRONT BOTANICAL GARDENS
Waterfront Botanical Gardens is a private, non-profit organization building a world-class botanical garden on top of a former landfill near downtown Louisville, KY. The 23-acre site will host four main buildings and acres of gardens ranging from Kentucky Native to Japanese. Our mission is to cultivate urban botanical gardens that educate, inspire, and enhance appreciation of the relationship between plant life and a healthy environment. Phase 1 of the project opened in Fall 2019 with the Graeser Family Education Center and the surrounding gardens. The Ellen T. Leslie Botanical Classrooms will open in late summer 2020. As we move forward on construction of this cultural asset that engages the community, we will continue to host tourists, local visitors, students and a variety of events from weddings to environmental fairs. We need your support as we function as a public facility, and continue to build for the future. 2020 has hurt us as rental, program and donation income has suffered significantly. Here’s how you can help: • Become a member! Memberships are $25 for an individual and $35 for a family. Your membership gets you discounts on our 20+ programs during the year, and an invitation to members-only events. • Volunteer for the Gardens! We have hundreds of volunteers of all ages who assist with the gardens, special events, visitor services and educational programs. Sign up online. • Your sponsorship of bricks, trees, benches, classroom spaces and more provides the support we need to continue operations as we continue construction. • Buy a ticket to an event or program. This helps support the cost of providing classes and other community activities.
