This e-booklet discusses lives of 3 saints, all confessors of the Church. Saint Philip Benizi joined the Servites as a lay brother. After ordination, he became master of novices, then superior of several friaries, & prior general of the Servites. He had an extraordinary talent for converting sinners & reconciling those who were in conflict. Saint Cajetan founded the Theatines. He was one of the most outstanding figures among the pre-Tridentine Catholic reformers & his institution of clerks regular played a great part in the Counter-Reformation. Saint Cajetan promoted frequent communion & taught his followers that all inordinate desire or care for worldly goods is a grievous evil.
Saint Calasanctius founded the Piarists & his order was targeted by zealous internal enemies. After his enemies had convinced Rome to undercut his authority, he insisted that his followers obey the enemies because their authority came from Rome. He accepted all the attacks and forgave those who hurt him.
