Father Faber made his way through and out of a world heavily populated by protestants to become a highly regarded priest, theologian, author, and poet. Father Faber was initially ordained in the Church of England in 1839. By 1845, he had become so enlightened regarding the Catholic faith that, after many months of anguish and intense prayer, he left the Church of England and joined the Catholic Church. Father Faber was ordained on Holy Saturday in 1847. Father Faber steered many hundreds and possibly thousands of protestants to Catholicism. Father Faber authored many books, booklets, hymns, and poems. This courageous priest heard God calling, followed that call, and found tranquility and joy in his new-found faith.
