IT’S A NEW ADVENTURE! Hello little ones! It’s wonderful to be here with you in Scotland! Although we’ve been running events since 1993 this is the first time we’ve had one here and we’re really excited about our first ever Soul Survivor Scotland. This has been a step of faith for us and we’re really glad you came along to be a part of this new adventure. The main reason we’re here is to focus on Jesus. We’ll meet together twice a day to spend lots of time worshipping God, hearing talks from the Bible, and praying for one another in the power of the Holy Spirit. These times are right at the heart of us

WE’RE EXPECTANT OF ALL THAT GOD WANTS TO DO AS WE FOCUS ON HIM AND WE’RE PRAYING WE ALL LEAVE HERE TRANSFORMED BY HAVING SPENT TIME IN HIS PRESENCE.

being together because they give us an incredible opportunity to meet with Jesus and be changed by him. In our teaching we’ll be looking at the theme of relationships: relationship with God, and with friends, plus singleness, celibacy, and marriage. We’ll also be having Soul Talk sessions each day where we can look at subjects like growing in character and leadership, telling our friends about Jesus, finding God in hard times, and praying for people so that stuff happens. Plus we’ve got loads of other things happening throughout the week with cafes, sports, live music, and films; and we’ll be ending the week by having a huge ceilidh together! We’re expectant of all that God wants to do as we focus on him and we’re praying we all leave here transformed by having spent time in his presence. We can’t wait to see what these five days bring!

Love from Mike INTRO INFO: WELCOME

MINISTRY TIMES We want to live in God’s power and that means we need to spend time in his presence. During ministry times we make space to wait on the Holy Spirit, asking God to meet with us and do what he wants to do. As Christians the Holy Spirit is always living in us but in these times we’re inviting him to heal us physically and/or emotionally from things that have hurt us; to equip and empower us to live for him in our everyday lives, to give us his gifts, and to give us a greater understanding of who God is. If you’re not used to praying in this way, don’t worry, Mike and the team will talk you through what’s going on, how

FIRE REGULATIONS We don’t want to be a bore, but there are a few regulations we need you to follow as you put your tent up: •

Tempting as it is to get close, all tents must be at least three metres apart to comply with fire safety regulations.

Please do not use generators, or barbecue inside your tent. If it’s nice weather, then feel free to have a barbecue outside as long as it’s placed on a hard-standing surface.

Group leaders - please make sure you’ve filled out the risk assessment form that we sent you via email, and that you adhere to the cooking with gas guidelines.

FIRST AID In case there are any accidents, we have a dedicated team of first aiders around site from 9am until midnight. If any of your group are ill outside of those times, phone the emergency number on your wristband. If any of your group are ill - e.g. sudden fever with a body temperature of 38C or 100.4F, a sudden cough or any signs of diarrhoea and/or vomiting - then please keep them in their tent and contact the first aid team. If it’s an emergency, send someone to Info or call the emergency services. Please help us to keep sickness levels to a minimum by regularly washing your hands and letting us know if any of the showers or toilets are dirty - just pop into Info.

We’re heading to South Africa in the Easter holidays of 2015 and we’d love for you to join us! The trip will be an incredible opportunity to work with local churches and serve communities facing poverty and injustice. We will be working in teams serving long-term projects in townships doing everything from painting and DIY, to running kids clubs and holiday clubs. We will also meet regularly as a whole group so we can worship God together, hear from his word, and pray for one another in the power of the Holy Spirit. Plus there will be time for you to enjoy some of the amazing things that the city of Durban has to offer, including the fantastic beaches, and there will be

TEAM Lots of work goes on behind the scenes to make Soul Survivor happen! Not only is there a Watford-based team who spend the whole year planning events, but we also rely on a trusty band of volunteers to make everything run smoothly. From checking wristbands to recording the Soul Talks, you’ll find our amazing team members hard at work all around the showground.

FANCY BEING PART OF THE TEAM? We’d absolutely love you to consider serving at our 2015 events and we think you’ll enjoy yourself too! Here are a few testimonies from last year’s crew:

Not only do you get a free place, but most teams also get all their meals provided for them. You’ll meet loads of new people, get to serve God and see a new side to Soul Survivor – so why not give it a go?

BIBLE S P O D CAS T

For us to keep growing in our relationship with God we have to be regularly making time for his word. It’s life-giving for us but we know it can sometimes be hard to keep going on our own so we’ve come up with a solution! We’ll be reading through the whole Bible from 1st September this year through to the end of August next year (but don’t panic – that’s only about 10-15 mins a day!) and we’d love for you to join us. You can buy a Soul Survivor Bible in One Year from our stand in the ToolShed which has a reading plan with a bit of Old Testament, a bit of New Testament, and a portion of a Psalm each day.

Mike and Andy have read and recorded the four gospels so that you can listen to the stories of Jesus for free! You can purchase a copy from our stand or visit our website if you’d like to listen to them for free as we’ll be making the recordings available as podcasts.

We’ll also post daily vids from Mike, Andy or one of the team, on our app and on our website which will help put the things we’ve read into the context of our everyday lives. If the whole Bible seems a bit daunting, we’ve also got a New Testament in One Year reading plan that you can get involved in too. We believe that getting into God’s word can be life changing so join us on September 1st!

YOUTH BIBLE We also have a Soul Survivor Youth Bible – check out our shop page for more info!

WHY DO YOU FUNDRAISE WHEN IT COSTS US AROUND £100 EACH TO BE HERE? The money you pay for your ticket helps us to pay for some of the event costs but it doesn’t cover everything we need to keep Soul Survivor running. For example we have to pay for office space year round in Watford plus essential staff costs to plan and manage our events. So we rely on people donating money to help us carry on doing what we do. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET HOME? HOW DO I SUSTAIN THIS HIGH? We hope you’ve had a brilliant time here at Soul Survivor but we’re the first to acknowledge this isn’t everyday life. Everyone has ups and downs and that’s just as true for Christians as it is for anyone else. We want to encourage you to keep seeking Jesus and living everyday with him, knowing he’s with you just as much when you’re at home as he is when you’re here, so here are some top tips:

1 Reading your Bible is one of the best ways to stay connected to God. We’re starting to read through the whole Bible on September 1st and we’d love for you to join us!

2 Get/stay plugged in to your church and youth group – none of us are meant to do the Christian life alone. Go along regularly, give and serve, be committed and enjoy being part of the body of Christ.

3 Getting passionate about social justice? Awesome! Get involved with Slum Survivor and stay in contact with Soul Action for loads more ideas, resources and inspiration. www.soulaction.org

4 Stay in touch with us – we love hanging out with you guys at our other events through the year plus we’re always up for a cheeky chat on social media!

5 HAVE A SOUL SURVIVOR SUNDAY! On Sunday 14th September we will be having our first ever Soul Survivor Sunday! The idea is to provide an interactive way for you to tell the rest of your church about how you met with God during Soul Survivor. You’ll be able to download a PowerPoint presentation, a ‘memories’ video from the week, testimonies and more, that will give you some ideas for how you can best feed back to your church. We hope you’ll take part and let us know how it goes! Find out more and download resources at www.soulsurvivor.com/soul-survivor-sunday.

One of the things we’re really passionate about at Soul Survivor is meeting with God. During the main meetings we will always try to let God lead what’s going on and make space for him to meet with us. As part of this the leaders of the meeting will make time for us to wait on God’s Spirit and pray for groups of people they believe God particular wants to meet with. This is a great opportunity for God to work in our lives and it’s brilliant to be as open to him as possible.

Don’t worry if you’ve never had
