South Lanarkshire College has been awarded funding from Skills Development Scotland to deliver a range of different programmes through the Employability Fund.

Courses

We’re here to help you to develop the skills you need to find a job or go into further training. Our courses focus on getting you ready for work by providing employability support to help you find and sustain employment.

Laying the foundation for your career

We’ll also include Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) accredited qualifications and an extensive work placement to help you gain valuable practical skills in a live workplace environment.

Employability Fund South Lanarkshire College has been awarded funding from Skills Development Scotland to deliver a range of different programmes through the Employability Fund. Employability Fund activity aims to help people develop the skills required to secure a job or progress to a more advanced form of learning.

Personal development for employment May 2018, September 2018, February 2019 This programme will provide a foundation upon which you can build your core skills, personal development and employability skills as well as vocational competence. You’ll achieve an SQA Personal Development Award and complete a programme to increase confidence, soft skills and motivation and you’ll develop practical skills during a work placement. The course will also offer employer visits, health and wellbeing sessions and one-to- one support and guidance.

Preparing for work Pathway to employment August 2018, January 2019 This programme will support you in preparing for and sustaining employment in a suitable vocational area. You’ll complete an SQA Enterprise and Employability Award in a Social Media Literacy unit and gain relevant practical skills during a work placement. This course will help you recognise your skills and qualities, build confdence in job seeking, gain the skills employers are looking for and provide knowledge of local opportunities.


Additional information Any further qualifications or resources required for placement will be provided. This can include Health and Safety test for CSCS card, REHIS Basic Food Hygiene, PVG Membership, Moving and Handling, Extended Learning Support with Enabling Technologies and any necessary PPE.

Finance All 16, 17 and 18 year olds who are not in receipt of benefit will receive £55 per week training allowance. For others, a DWP Training Allowance or College Bursary may be payable. Travel passes/expenses and all course materials will be provided.
