NPA IN ADMINISTRATION ACTIVITIES APPLICANTS MUST BE 16 TO APPLY
This course is designed to give you an insight into what it’s like working in an office environment. We’ll support you by helping you to develop the basic skills and knowledge you’ll need to enable you to find employment within an administration setting. The NPA Administration Activities course has been specifically designed to include a mixture of college-based sessions followed by a short work placement to give you the best opportunity to gain employment. On completion of the course you’ll receive an NPA in Administration Activities and an NPA Employability Skills (SCQF Level 4). The following units will be covered on this course:

Word processing Spreadsheets Databases Telephone techniques Customer Services

Administration activities Cash transactions Social media Employability Work placement
Start dates: August 2019 & January 2020 Duration: 14 weeks x 3 days per week
NPA IN BAKERY
APPLICANTS MUST BE 16 TO APPLY The aim of this course is to provide the candidate with the opportunity to develop practical bakery skills in bread making, craft baking, cake decorating and pastry. As a result, the successful candidate would be able to either progress into suitable employment or move into education. On completion of the course you’ll receive an NPA in Bakery (SCQF Level 4). The following units will be covered on this course:
• Introduction to craft baking • Introduction to cake decorating • REHIS (Elementary Food Hygiene)

Employability skills Introduction to bread making Allergen awareness Pastry
Start dates: September 2019 Duration: 10 weeks x 3 days per week
GATEWAY TO SOCIAL CARE APPLICANTS MUST BE 18 TO APPLY
This course is designed to give you an insight into what it’s like working in the Care sector. We’ll support you by helping you develop the basic skills and knowledge you’ll need to take the first steps to finding employment in Care. The Gateway to Social Care course has been specifically designed to include a mixture of college-based sessions followed by a short work placement. This will give you the best opportunity to develop the skills that employers in the Social Care industry are looking for. The following units will be covered on this course:

Moving & assisting Challenging behaviour Stress management Food hygiene PVG

A&E procedures Mental health Infection control Employability skills Work placement
Start dates: August, October 2019, February 2020 Duration: 8 weeks x 3 days per week
INCLUSIVENESS PROJECT The Inclusiveness Project at South Lanarkshire College offers free vocational training courses to unemployed South Lanarkshire residents who are looking to move into employment. Our courses are part time which means they tend not to affect benefits (please check with Jobcentre Plus before applying). Our courses include accredited vocational training followed by a short work placement, and flexible employability support to help you find and sustain employment. Applicants must be aged 16+ (unless otherwise stated). You should be unemployed, actively seeking employment and living in South Lanarkshire to be eligible for our courses. The Inclusiveness Project is part funded by the European Social Fund and South Lanarkshire Council. Applicants will be paid a contribution towards travel costs, and we may be able to support the cost of childcare.
