Our Year 2020/21 - Key Facts

Page 1

In this year, more than any other, it is important to reflect on the successes – and challenges – of the year that was 2021. This was the year where all staff and students went above and beyond in the face of such exceptional circumstances. Despite the global pandemic, despite the extraordinary public health challenge that we all faced, here at South Lanarkshire College we remained a place of teaching and learning, adopting new approaches to how we supported staff and students, how we taught, worked and learned. In such a challenging year, our college community has demonstrated deep resilience, incredible flexibility and absolute determination to work together to ensure student success and support for all those around us. We supported a real sense of people, partnership and community. We’ve provided PPE and health and care packs to our local health and social care providers; we’ve supported the Trussell Trust and local food banks as an active partner in our local community; we work closely with local industry partners to support social and economic recovery post-COVID. We’ve been nominated for and received more awards and accolades than ever before. We continue to be one of Scotland’s top performing colleges and our KPIs showcase the incredible commitment, dedication and support from all staff at the College to ensure our students are given the best possible opportunity to achieve their potential. I personally would like to thank all staff, the Board of Governors, my College Leadership Team, our Students Association and all our students, as well as our partners, for their support, guidance and commitment over the past 18 months. It is this collective approach which ensures that South Lanarkshire College remains one of Scotland’s top performing colleges and a proud anchor of the Lanarkshire community. I hope you enjoy reading these key facts which showcase our success. All best wishes,

Aileen McKechnie
