TRAINING & EMPLOYABILITY SUPPORT IN LANARK South Lanarkshire College has been awarded funding from South Lanarkshire Council and the European Social Fund to deliver a range of programmes in the rural area of South Lanarkshire through the Rural Energy Academy. This new opportunity is for South Lanarkshire residents living in rural areas and looking for work opportunities across a variety of roles within the energy/utility sector and its supply chain. Vocational skills and jobs will range from technical to administrative positions. We welcome applications from new potential recruits as well as people with previous experience to access job opportunities through upskilling. Whatever your circumstances and your level of support needs, you will be advised on the best way for you to gain new skills, qualifications and experience, to maximise your chances for a job related to the energy/utility sector and its supply chain. WHERE WILL YOU FIND US? You can drop in at our premises in Lanark: Corner Unit, 2 Hope Street (across from the Bank of Scotland). One of our advisors will also be present at the Lanark Job Centre office on dates to be arranged by mutual agreement. The Rural Energy Academy will deliver support and training in a range of locations with its main base in Lanark. The team will support and suggest travel arrangements to assist you with transport. WHAT’S ON OFFER? Our friendly staff will offer you advice and support to identify your training needs. Certificate of Work Readiness: If you feel you need to build your confidence and could do with some help with employability skills, the Certificate of Work Readiness is the ideal course to get you started on your journey to secure employment. Vocational courses: If you are interested to build your skills in a particular vocational area, you can choose from a number of courses to help you meet employers’ needs: Smart Metering, Estimating, Timber Frame, Renewable Technologies, Administration, IT and Audio; SAGE; Spreadsheets and Databases; Human resources; Accounts etc. Courses starting from January 2018.
Job search through our job club where the team will guide you through job opportunities – all this for you to build your confidence to go for that job! Employability skills including: CV writing, interviewing skills, expectations in the workplace etc. Work placements to help you gain valuable practical skills in a live workplace environment and showcase your skills to an employer. If you want to learn more about the energy/utility sector, we can organise visits to our workshops in South Lanarkshire College. Staff will be available to explain the skills and equipment used in the industry, links with industry and employers’ expectations.
Any further industry specific qualifications or resources required for placement or to progress to employment will be provided. This can include H&S test for CSCS card, PVG Membership, Moving & Handling and any necessary PPE.
