We’re also working collaboratively with East Renfrewshire Council over the sustainable provision of vocational programmes for East Renfrewshire pupils.

55% REDUCTION IN CARBON FOOTPRINT since 2009
October 2019
Hundreds of our students and staff formed a human chain at our Low Carbon House to show they care about the impact of Climate Change. We wanted to demonstrate a mutual desire and commitment to promote sustainable behaviours.
reducing our carbon footprint Over a period of significant growth, and campus expansion, we’ve actively managed down our carbon footprint. All our newest buildings are net-zero carbon. We’ve reduced our reliance on fossil fuels in our oldest building by the use of solar panels, ground and air source heat pumps. This is the eleventh consecutive year we’ve reduced our carbon emissions

vertical probes, each 120 metres long, supply heat energy to our ground source heat pumps, reducing dependence on carbon-based fuel
harvesting rainwater
saving energy
Two of our three buildings have rainwater harvesting systems that reduce dramatically the amount of water supplied by the water network This also reduces the requirements for pumping water (using electricity) to our campus and so reduces the carbon footprint per cubic metre of the water supplier
11,519 slices of bread could be toasted every day during term time using just the energy from our solar panels
investing in the future In 2018-19 we invested £1.37m from the Scottish Funding Council to improve the infrastructure on the College campus. We improved our environmental efficiency and long-term sustainabilty. We replaced heating systems, installed LEDs and upgraded IT to support the learning environment.
