RUDE AWAKENING

LEAMINGTON — Residents along Bennie Avenue in Leamington were jolted from their Easter breakfast chairs on Sunday, when an out-of-control pickup truck veered off the road and onto the lawns.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 am, as the errant truck took out a hydro box, sheared off a tree and spun the parked black pickup pictured here into another parked vehicle.

The driver then sped off on three wheels, heading east on Seacliff Drive. The driver was apprehended about 20 minutes later by Leamington OPP cruisers, who caught up with the damaged vehicle on Mersea Rd. B.

The suspect was taken into custody, but as of press time, no more information was available on possible charges.
