Cougars lose in overtime

The Cougars led 11-9 and 32-17 after the first two quarters, but the Royals clawed their way back, trailing 45-39 going into the four quarter, where they took the lead. Cardinal Carter tied the game to force overtime with a three pointer as the clock ran down to two seconds, but the Royals earned a 76-72 victory to claim the WECSSAA title and earn a place in the SWOSSAA final against the LambtonKent champs.

LEAMINGTON – The swim team at Leamington District Secondary School made a big splash at SWOSSAA (South Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association) on Monday, February 24 at the Windsor Aquatic Centre. Kalin Lougheed and Alison Ware qualified for OFSAA (to be held in Toronto on March 3-4) in all three of their individual events. Nicolas Lougheed, Cassia DiMenna and Erin Hopper all posted personal bests. The girls relay team – Hopper, Ware, DiMenna and Lougheed – crushed the OFSAA time standard and posted a team best as the top SWOSSAA senior relay team in the 200-metre freestyle.
