IRENE PEARL (WHITE) SHEFFIELD A Funeral Service was held at St. John’s Community Church for Irene Pearl Sheffield, of Eden, who passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013. Irene is survived by three sons: Harry of Eden, Kevin and Sandy of Hamburg, and Karl and Kelly of Ashford.

She also had six adoring grandchildren: Longina, Richard, Eric, Katie, Sarah, and Jessica Sheffield. Irene left behind five sisters: Joan Mayberry, Patricia Conrad, Doreen (Kevin) Conklin, Donna White and Nancy (Leonard) Gibbs and her only brother Ronald (Linda) White and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was born on November 9, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to Norman and Pearl (Dranger) White. Growing up in Eden for all her life, Irene was educated at Eden Central Schools.

Irene later enrolled in Bryant Scranton College; she earned an associates degree in Business.

In September 1965, Irene married Eugene Sheffield. Together they had three sons. Her favorite activities involved family.

Eugene predeceased her on December 26, 1998.

An avid cook and baker, Irene loved making family gatherings special with everyone’s favorite foods.

Irene was employed as head of house keeping at St. George Nursing Home in Eden. Irene was a lifetime member of the Eden Emergency Squad where she served as an EMT for many years. t Memorials may be made to Eden EMS Box 111 Eden, NY Words of sympathy on www.LaingFuneralHome.com _______

MARY B. PTAK (nee: Parysek) A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Comception Church for Mary B. Ptak, of Eden, NY, who died on Sunday, August 25, 2013.

She was born on September 8, 1922 in East Eden, New York, the daughter of late Leslie and Amelia (Weiss) Parysek. She was a life-long resident of Eden, New York. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Eden. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She also served as the Secretary in the Parent-Teacher Association. She married her loving husband the late John Ptak. She is survived by three sons; John L. Ptak, James A. Ptak and Jerald M.(Peggy) Ptak; two daughter, Mary M. (Robert) Schreiner and Margaret R. Sallak; a brother, Joseph Parysek; two sisters, Wanda Filipiak and Joan Blachura. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband John, she is predeceased by four siblings; Edward, Leslie, Anthony and John Parysek.

SCS held orientation for students going into Middle School on August 28th. Kids going in to 5th & 6th grade will now change classes and go to a locker as they have Homeroom, Art, Computer, Religion, Spanish, Language Arts, Literature, Social Studies, Math, Science, Music & Gym.
