Robert L. Metzger

Robert L. Metzger of Collins, NY passed away Saturday, July 23,2016 at the South Bay Memorial Hospital in Sun City Center Florida, at age 82. Robert retired from NYS, worked for WNYDDSO, worked for the Federal Government retiring from the US Postal Service and worked at the Collins Post Office. Husband of Lois (Rogers) Metzger, Father of Robert Metzger of Collins, William (Viola) Pratt of Perrysburg, Terry (Simone) Metzger of Murphy TX, Janet (Dennis) Fuller of Springville, Rebecca (Brian) Henderson of Perrysburg, Nancy (Gary) Getzelman of Collins, Lorrie (Ernest) Stebbins of Gowanda, Karen (Scott) Christopher of Perrysburg and Katherine Ronald) Mauzy of Salisbury, NC Brother of Eugene (late Mary) Metzger of Collins and Ruth (George) Smith of Florence, SC. 16 grandchildren 6 great grandchildren along with nieces and nephews also survive. A Service of Remembrance will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2pm from the Gowanda Free Methodist Church, 149 West Main St., Gowanda. Surviving besides his wife of nearly 70 years is a son Grant (Phyllis) Gabel of Gowanda and Rebecca (Terrell) Hubbard also of Gowanda along with 4 grandchildren, Lisa, Ashley, Derek and Levi. Great grandchildren Michael, Connor, Zachary, Sophia, Dylan, Caden and Jayce. Beverly M. Gurney Several nieces and nephews great and great great also Beverly M. Gurney of survive. Besides his parents Dispenza , and the late JefBob was preceded in death frey Dispenza , Robert’s by 9 brothers Roy, Herman, children Jeffrey and Tracy Edward, Raymond, Gerald, Gurney, Monica (Larry) Charles , Chester, Donald Nephew. 13 grandchildren ( Jacob) and Richard Ga- 10 great grand. Sister of bel One sister Marie Taber. Sandra (Joseph) Perchy and Bob started Gabel Bros. the late Gregory Barthel. Furniture in Gowanda with A Mass of Christian Burihis brother in 1954. Patricia K. Urbank

Patricia K. Urbank of Orchard Park, formerly of Gowanda, passed away at age 83. Born June 6, 1933 in Youngstown, NY, the daughter of Howard and Loretta (Garvey) Kay, Patricia married Edward M. Urbank on June 5, 1954 in Youngstown. She is survived by her husband Edward. Patricia was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church. A Registered Nurse, Pat received her nursing degree from Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo. She worked at various locations in the area including the former Tri-County Memorial Hospital and the Gowanda Nursing Home . Pat retired from the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center. Surviving besides her husband of 62 years are 7 children, which include 4 sons Michael (Pamela) Urbank of Glendale AZ, Daniel (Deborah) Urbank of Collins, Thomas Urbank of Lockport, Andrew (Amy) Urbank of Orchard Park and 3 daughters Kay Ann (William) Snyder of Apalachin, Joanne (Scott) Bolton of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Theresa (Christopher) Parish of Orchard Park. 23 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Victoria Urbank and Ryan Urbank, 3 sisters Mary Delgross, Margaret Whalen and Joan Mock, 2 brothers William Kay and James Kay along with infant siblings Betty Kay and John “Jackie” Kay. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated August 5 from St. Joseph’s RC Church, 90 East Main St. Gowanda. Interment in the Jolls Cemetery, Perrysburg. Kyle M. White of Irving passed away unexpectedly July 26, 2016 at age 29. Born May 24, 1987 in Buffalo the son of Dwayne and Laurie (Snow) White. Kyle had a sense of humor was a loving and caring guy, his size might expect to intimidate but deep down he was a teddy bear that thought a lot of his family and friends. He will be missed. Survivors include his mom Laurie, his son Klayton, his fiancé Victoria Busch, a child that is due in October along with 2 brother’s Brandon White and Jesse White, 3 sisters Christine (Douglas) Eubanks, Leann White and Andrea White. Several Aunts Uncles Cousins Nieces and Nephews also survive. Kyle was preceded in death by his father Dwayne and a brother Cheyenne White. Mary Ann Snyder of Gowanda passed away at home on July 25, 2016 peacefully surrounded by family. Ann was 76 years old. Born August 22, 1939 in Gowanda the daughter of William and Mary (Sweet ) Schiffner. Ann married Clifton B. Snyder April 4, 1957. Rev. Owl married them on the reservation. Besides her husband of 59 years Ann is survived by 3 sons, Clifton “Sonny” (Nancy) Snyder of Coral Springs, Fla., Jeffrey Snyder and Brian Kimberly) Snyder all of Gowanda , Grandchildren Krista, Amy, Briana, Caitlin, Madeline, Anthony, Leah, Kelsey, Mallory, Matthew, Brian Jr. Great grandchildren Sekera, Mekhi and Korbin. Ann is also survived by a sister Susan (Craig) Brown of Collins along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides her parents Mary Ann was preceded in death by a daughter Carrie Snyder and 2 brothers William and Ben Schiffner. A Celebration of Mary Ann’ s life was held July 29, from the First Presbyterian Church 64 East Main St. Gowanda, NY 14070. Memorials may be made to the church. Frances M. Price

Frances M. Price, 94, died peacefully at home July 31, 2016. Frances was born on December 15, 1921 in East Brady, PA to Catherine and Ignatz Pugar. Frances married William Price in 1942, and they moved to Buffalo for jobs. During WWII, she worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft Corporation as a parts inspector. In 1958, Fran and Bill bought Central Service Texaco station in Eden, NY which they operated until their retirement in 1978. Most of her life was devoted to her family. She was uniquely creative. Frances is survived by six daughters. Patricia McNell (Michael), Judith Spencer (Thomas), Barbara Baird (Brian), Jane Price (Donna Menz), Joan Cluckey (Robert), Jacalyn Price (Peter Crosby). Nine grandchildren: Kenneth McNell (Kelly), Elizabeth Rogers (Brian), Edward McNell (Kelly), Catherine Spencer, William Spencer (Catherine), Jeremy Baird (Lisa), Jonathan Baird, Patrick Cluckey (Brittney), Colleen Frawley (Daniel). And 13 great garandchildren. ________

All we can really say is, “WOW!” For 12 years now, we have held the Team Georgie Kickball Tournament and for 12 years you have all left us speechless. This past year was no exception. $2,300 raised at this crazy event that started out as a silly idea to get a few people together to play some kickball. You guys have come out and supported this event with such love and such dedication, and thank you just never seems like enough. This year, we watched the Red Raiders proudly hoist The Leg up over their heads as Team Georgie Champs and it really was great to see. Thank you to all the people who donated items and door prizes for the basket raffle, bought some food, got in the 50/50 or just came up to spend the day with us. To the 11 teams that came and slammed their bodies around on that hard as rock grass all day long, THANK YOU! You guys are truly the heart and soul of this tournament and nothing happens without you. We do this every year for Cath, and we know she’s probably still pretty amused with the stupidity of it all. But in the end, the laughs and the shenanigans help out a whole bunch of people in this community, and we remain proud as hell about that! Thank you all for your involvement and your love. Do we have a Lucky 13 left in us?? We’ll just have to wait and see!!

On August 1, 2016 the Town of Brant Monday Night Concert Series was pleased to sponsor PAUL ZITTEL & THE PURE COUNTRY BAND. Over 80 people were there to dance, sing and toe-tap along to some great Country and Gospel tunes. All the songs, both fast and slow brought out several of the best dancers. Hands and feet were sure a-clapping and a-tapping as Paul and Band played the 1953 Hank Williams song “Kaw-Liga! Those of us too shy to get out on the floor, enjoyed watching the lively dancers, but believe me - our hands and feet were certainly in time to the beat even though we remained seated. The two hours flew by on this perfect summertime evening. We were sad when the music ended and the Pure Country Band had to say “Good Night”. Each of the four Monday Night Concerts have been attended by a dedicated and happy bunch of music lovers! Paul Zittel and the Pure Country Band are the fourth of five scheduled bands at the Monday Night Concerts in the Brant Town Park. There is one more concert scheduled for Monday August 8th. The Town of Brant Concert Program is partially funded through a Grant by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature; administered by Arts Services Initiative of Western New York. This year, Councilman Mike Muffoletto is the town contact for the Brant Town Park Concert Series. Secretary to the Boards Lynda Ostrowski, chose the bands for this year and she has been doing so for the past three years. We heartily applaud each of the selected bands for their performances, the fun loving dancers and all of the persons responsible for the Town of Brant Monday Night Concerts!
