These people are coming back to the amazing USA and they are unable to sit without experiencing indescribable pain. Some of them are suicidal. A Prone Tractor that can be driven laying down, can provide hope. Right before Christmas, I had a Marine Medic approach my vehicle, which I drive in the prone position. She cried and pleaded for me to start a website. She explained that three of her men, that she worked with in Afghanistan, were now home in the USA and in were so much pain that they were going to give up. This is a devastating reality. The Marines and an Army Sergeant from the VA Suicide Hotline have many, many more stories. The solution, is to build a Prone Tractor, using a 1864 Hydrostatic Cub Cadet Tractor or a 318 John Deere Hydrostatic Tractor. They can creep slowly and have power steering and power lift. The platform you lay on, can be installed in a day with perforated angle iron, plywood and two sofa cushions. When I drove my Prone Tractor for the first time, it took me 8 days to mow my 3/4 acre lawn, with a 48” mower deck. I made 2 passes, took 3 hour breaks to lay on ice, and did it again. I felt the sun, smelled the fresh cut grass, and I had hope. I have been driving an adapted van for 8 years now. The sergeant from the VA Suicide hotline inspired me to spread the word about prone driving. I will be traveling and it is my mission to appear on the Ellen Degeneres Show and Mark Burnett’s show, “Shark Tank”. This is non-profit and to save our vets. I will travel 50-100 mile hops, two hops per day. I will not give up! Code, Honor, Conduct, Loyalty- These are not just words- These are words to live by. When an army ranger barks out the code, the walls vibrate, plaster cracks, women and children stand in amazement and grown men cry! EXEMPTION REMINDER FROM THE CHAIRMAN: TOWN OF EDEN TAXPAYERS

On February 8, 2016 As your Town Supervisor these past 10 years, I assure you that your taxes will not go up because of the purchase of this pristine park land. You have trusted my judgment these past 10 years, and we have a new Town Hall and have greatly improved our town assets to over 2 million dollars, and your taxes have gone down for 9 straight years. For one of the rare times since I have been supervisor, the entire board is in full support of this purchase. Let me now share the facts with you to dispel some of the untruths. In last week’s Pennysaver, it was stated by a non-resident that the Town Board ignored a public survey that was overwhelmingly opposed to the purchase - this is totally untrue. The count was actually about 55-45% and all the surveys were not included. Also, the board could have legally purchased the property in 5 years at 1 to 2% without ever going to a vote, but we felt it was the right thing to do so that the residents would have a say and be a part of such a historical event as acquiring a Town Beach for our children, grandchildren and future generations to enjoy. The Town of Brant is the only lake front community that does not have a public beach that we can allow our residents free access to. It was also stated that I did not understand how Municipal Bonds were administered, and it would cost another $200,000. Obviously the former NY State Attorney General does not have all of the facts, such as this amount would be stretched over 20 years and the cost to the taxpayers less than $7 dollars per year. As the Fiscal Officer of the Town, I have the best interest of the Town at stake, and I did check on our Liability Insurance and was told that it would be covered under our existing policies. As far as the upkeep, I have been told by many that they would volunteer as friends for the park group that would be available to clean the debris on the beach and keep our park pristine. It has also been noted that money to build shelters will be donated. I do not understand how a non-resident of the town would try to sway the town residents from improving our community and labeling the residents of Brant as insane. He doesn’t even live here, and we have not seen him in our town at any functions during my 10 years as Supervisor. I write this because I am protecting the SANITY of our community as so stated and don’t need outsiders to interfere with such a historical event as this. Like I stated in my last ad, the cost to the taxpayers will be taken out of the taxes you already pay, and there will not be an increase. The town has 1478 taxable properties, and the cost of $650,000 over 20 years would cost the taxpayer $21.99 per year, and with the added interest of $7 it would cost you less than $29 per YEAR and be absorbed in your annual taxes and not influence any increase. Also, did you know that there are various grants available once the town owns the property because the State and Federal Governments are trying to protect lands such as this? The state’s local waterfront revitalization program told me that there would be up to $150,000 in grants to help with the development of our Nature Preserve. The WNY Land Conservancy also supports this purchase and would help in any way possible to keep our park pristine and save the environment for future generations to enjoy. I then ask you: If it is not the increase in taxes that would make you opposed to this purchase, then what is it that would make you vote against your town from becoming a better place to live?

On February 8, 2016 1. The taxpayers should not be saddled with the cost of purchasing a beach that the public has already rejected. The Town Board has not fully disclosed the true cost of the purchase, and beyond that, the board has failed to describe the ADDITIONAL COSTS TO TAXPAYERS for MAINTENANCE, INSURANCE, SECURITY AND SITE DEVELOPMENT. 2. Supervisor Pero, in a paid political ad, projected the purchase price to cost no more than a steak dinner if spread out over all tax parcels in the town, This seems like a weak justification to many taxpayers who are on FIXED INCOMES, ARE ELDERLY OR ARE ALREADY HAVING TROUBLE PAYING THEIR PROPERTY TAXES, considerations that Mr. Pero’s steak dinner analogy ignores. 3. The Town of Brant should not be in the land acquisition business, thereby removing property from the tax rolls. If the current owner wants to preserve the natural state of the property, she should keep it and maintain it herself. 4. The board HAS FAILED TO EXPLAIN HOW NON-RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE PROPERTY. If Evangola is too expensive for town residents (one justification cited by the board for buying a beach), why is it any more affordable for people from other towns? To make the beach available only to town residents, A COSTLY SECURITY SYSTEM will be needed. Additionally, INSURANCE LIABILITY COSTS WILL ALSO SKYROCKET. 5. How was the purchase price negotiated? What restrictions has the town agreed to as part of the sales contract? Will anyone receive a broker’s commission? Who is funding the political ads placed in the Pennysaver by Mr. Pero?

DEAR BRANT AND FARNHAM RESIDENTS LOTUS ABODE BEACH PURCHASE Fellow Residents, I would like to thank everyone for their valuable input and recommendations regarding the proposed purchase of the Lotus Abode Beach property. This opportunity has generated a great deal of healthy conversation about the direction of our community. I would like to take a minute of your time to explain and review this opportunity as I understand it. The town was approached by the land owner for the potential purchase of this property; the board was not actively searching for property with lake access to purchase. The negotiation was based on what the board believed to be a fair price for 47 acres which included a sandy beach. The options of finance were discussed internally and publicly in great detail and with great concern to the financial stability of our budget. The option that seems to fit our budget is a long term serial bond, approximately 20 years; this will also give the town the ability to renegotiate terms though out the life of the loan. We have also included funds to engage an engineering firm to develop a site and business plan for the property in controlled affordable phases. The suggestion has been purposed to establish a steering committee of residents which would represent the affected communities to work with the engineering firm. This process should be professional and transparent. What I do not know, is what will happen to this property if the town decides not to purchase it? Nobody can predict the future. The open access to beach property is becoming rare and this will most likely be the last chance for the residents of Town of Brant to own a parcel. I would encourage residents to inquire about an opportunity to view the property in person prior to the referendum vote on February 8th. There are also photographs of the parcel available. This is an opportunity to provide a park including a beach for the future generations of Brant residents. If you have any questions about the costs, financing, impact, accessibility and scope of this opportunity please contact me or any board member. A busy schedule sometimes prevents us from attending Town Board meetings to learn about pertinent matters as well as upcoming fun events. One of my goals as your elected official has always been to keep you informed in regards to these types of highlights. Two of the tools I’ve used to accomplish this goal is through the Town of Eden’s Website and through messages in the “Corner of Eden” articles. In addition, my goal is for Eden to be a “User friendly” community in terms of our understanding of our building codes. With the help of our new Building Inspector, Mark Clark, the town board will continue down the path of reviewing outdated codes and regulations as well as legislation. Thus, we are currently seeking applicants/volunteers that would like to be a part of our “Code Review” committee.
