Thank You

to the many people that offered their kindness, support, condolences and respects for my father,

CHARLES M. DALRYMPLE. Special thanks to:

~ Eden Fire Dept. for their services at Laing Funeral Home; the fire dept. had a very special place in Dad’s heart. ~ Bill and Gabriel at the funeral home for their kindness and care following Dad’s wishes. ~ Dr. Rev. James Reidling from St. John’s Church for a wonderful service. ~ Autumn View Manor for the care Dad received the last 3 months of life; many earth angels are employed there. ~ Ruby Willet from Eden Heights, my Dad’s angel who became my special friend. ~ George and Sally Todaro for the outings, visits and getting Dad to medical appointments when I was in Florida. ~ David Eckhardt for his kindness. ~ And, especially, Connie Logan, my “chosen sister,” who took on many responsibilities.

Dad loved this community and will always be remembered. Bridget Dalrymple Benoit

Happy Anniversary

The Eden United Methodist Church is proudly celebrating its Bicentennial next Sunday, September 29th. John and Jemima Hill moved to Eden in 1811. John was a Methodist exhorter, and in 1812, organized a Methodist Class. On July 9, 1813, at the meeting of the 4th annual Genesee Conference, the Eden Class was officially recognized as a Methodist Church and assigned Rev. Gideon Lanning as their pastor. Rev. Lanning traveled between churches in Pembroke, Clarence, West Batavia, Willink, Eden and Hamburg. When Buffalo was burned in 1813 during the War of 1812, he had to pick his way through the ruins of the city. Rev. Lanning wrote that during that 1st year, he observed no other public religious meetings anywhere in that area. His salary in 1813 was $80.00, of which he actually received $77.76. The Eden United Methodist Church is proud to have been part of the community for the past 200 years.

To address the personal and political attacks to date would be a waste of time and non-beneficial to the town; my focus will be on the issues that lead me to decide to run for Supervisor. • I am concerned with the $597,187 increase (39%) in spending in the past 5 years. • I am concerned with the current level of spending that would increase the taxation on hard working families and seniors on fixed incomes if and when the external sources of income cease. • I am concerned with the questionable purchasing practices that are continued. • I am concerned with terminating an approved 150k grant without justification or board approval. • I am concerned of the lack of an independent external financial audit in the past 6 years. These are some of the issues that lead me to decide to run for Supervisor. It is ultimately your choice on November 5th, I am confident I can manage these and other issues if you decide to support me. Respectfully Don Clark

IMAGINE…“WHIRLED PEACE”

In today’s world, peace needs to become more than just a word. At 9:00 a.m on Thursday September 19, 2013, art students from the Eden Central School District of Eden, NY plan to take part in an International art and literacy project, Pinwheels for Peace. Students in grades K-12 from Eden schools will create a large art installation by “planting” about 350 pinwheels created by the students on the front lawn of Eden Elementary School, 8289 Main Street, Eden, NY (corner of Rt. 62 & Schoolview Rd).The project celebrates the International Day of Peace on September 21. The art students will create pinwheels of all shapes and sizes. As part of the creation process, the students will write their thoughts about "war and peace / tolerance/ living in harmony with others" on one side. On the other side, they will draw, paint, collage, etc. to visually express their feelings. The students will assemble these pinwheels and on Thursday morning they will "plant" their pinwheels as a public statement and art exhibit/installation. Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, of Coconut Creek, Florida, as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives. In the first year, groups in over 1,325 locations throughout the world were spinning pinwheels on September 21st - there were approximately 500,000 pinwheels spinning throughout the world. Last year (year 8), 2012, over 4 million pinwheels were spinning in over 3,500 locations, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and South America. This project is non-political – peace doesn’t necessarily have to be associated with the conflict of war, it can be related to violence/intolerance in our daily lives, to peace of mind. To each of us, peace can take on a different meaning, but, in the end, it all comes down to a simple definition: “a state of calm and serenity, with no anxiety, the absence of violence, freedom from conflict or disagreement among people or groups of people.” The pinwheels will be installed on Thursday September 19th. Over the weekend keep a lookout for the pinwheels – the spinning of the pinwheels in the wind will spread thoughts and feelings about peace throughout the country and the world! For more information, go to http://www.pinwheelsforpeace.com or Lynn Morgan 992-3600/863-5103. __________
