You can also learn a new way of doing your make-up inspired by the 60s in our beauty tutorial and how to do a mod nail-art. Of course there is also our amazing menswear corner as usual, with great tips on how to get the rocker and the mod styles, the 2 biggest trends of that age! With our styling tips you will look amazing all through Spring and Summer!

OUT WITH THE EX - IN WITH THE SHOES! A Guide to Selling Your Used Clothes

By Kate de Lacy

FASHIONHAUNT.COM:

- The place to sell and buy clothes from around the world. - No listing Fees - Lists unlimited number of items for unlimited time - Get paid directly to your Paypal account

PRELOVED.CO.UK:

- Great website and easy to use - It is free to place and advertise your clothes.

How a breakup led me to fashion-savvy used-clothes selling

When my ex left, I wandered around the house in a state of shock. I eventually ended up in the bedroom and sat down on the bed sobbing. Sitting there I realised suddenly that there was an open door. Not just in my life but in the closet. All that space for my shoes, handbags and coats! For the next few hours, I got busy re-arranging my clothes and while doing this I realised there were items I had completely forgotten I had: slinky little dresses, bolero jackets and sky high heels. Now, this was both a good thing and a bad thing because I didn’t want to part with any of these lovely clothes. Trying to get me to give up a lovely dress or adored pair of jeans is next to impossible, even if the item hasn’t been worn since I first bought it. I began to survey the scaffold of my wardrobe and started to try things on. Some didn’t fit anymore and others just didn’t work for me anymore. What to do? I couldn’t just give all these clothes away. The answer of course was to find some places to sell these clothes. Not necessarily designer-wear, but lovely all the same. My search began and these are the best sites I discovered. The top tip is that photos attract the most buyers and most will ask for photos if you haven’t put them up. So get your camera out, take a lovely picture of your piece of clothing and upload it 16 on the website that most convinces you!

EBAY:

- One of the best places to sell your designer clothing. - The service is not free and everything is bought by bidding. Higher priced items are often listed on Ebay. - Selling used clothes here gives you lots of exposure since it has a huge market. - Build a base by receiving feedback on your sales - One negatives, for me, with Ebay is you have to agree to give returns which can be a real hassle.

MY CLOSET.NET:

- It’s a user’s community where you can sell used clothes and accessories. - It’s for free and you can list as many items as you like. - Build a client base by receiving feedback on your sales.

AMAZON.CO.UK:

- The biggest drawback is that all sellers of clothing need to be pre-approved and this can take time. - Once approved you can place an ad for free but Amazon takes a percentage of that fee. - You must register and get an approval for a sellers account and then be approved to sell clothing.
