Takelia Day
“Empowerment is the strength and confidence to operate in one’s God given ability!”
Takelia Day originally from Belzoni, Mississippi a longtime native of Dayton, Ohio and devoted philanthropist who believes in empowering those around her has been in the business of entertainment management for 12 years. As founder and CEO of Vonshay Exclusive and Co-Founder of TaJa` Productions, Mrs. Day believes in helping each of her clients not only see their potential, but to also tap into their purpose. Her love for the entertainment business is not unfamiliar or on accident, it runs in her family being a relative of the late legendary god-father of blues Mr. B.B. King. The two elements that continue to make Mrs. Day and her management company stand out from other up and coming entertainment companies are diversity and artist development. More specifically, the clientele of Vonshay Exclusive includes singers, rappers (gospel and inspirational), actors, models, comedians, performing art dancers, authors, and motivational speakers. Mrs. Day believes that in today’s evolving world, especially in show business, entertainment management companies should always be open to the possibilities of all genres of talent and performing arts.
Another facet of Mrs. Day’s business is event planning. She has planned and hosted various events such as upscale birthday celebrations, book signing events, talent shows, album release parties, red carpet events, concerts in her local community and across the country. Mrs. Day has also worked on music video projects of up and coming indie artists as a co-director and producer. She has also co-written songs, and collaborated with authors on literary projects, such as books and stage plays. As Mrs. Day continues to grow her business and nurture her gifts, she remains grateful and humble for the opportunity to serve and work alongside passionate like-minded individuals. Mrs. Day lives by her company motto, she sees her own potential and she continues to tap into her purpose. 5
Woman To Watch “Empowerment means remaining optimistic as well as realistic. This will allow you to openly express truth to others when you are true with yourself. Doing so will ultimately allow you to empower, encourage, and elevate others as the universe does the same for you.“

Learning doesn’t have to stop just because it’s summer! Here are some simple and FREE things you can do to avoid ‘brain drain’.
Visit the local library. Talk to the Children’s Librarian for tips to keep your child reading. Most libraries have activities and clubs for kids and they’re free! Talk with your child about the previous school year the good and the not so good and brainstorm ways to make the next year even better! Talk with your child about how to set goals for next school year. Go for a walk and talk about what you see and hear. Research aspects of nature your child might be curious about. Have an electronic device blackout!!! Go outside, read, write or just do nothing. Boredom helps your mind recharge and be more creative. Creative writing. Pick a quote, an article or thought provoking question and have your child write all about it. 7

“Empowerment is living your best life on purpose! We have authority given to us by God to change lives and to impact the world around us. As people we have a responsibility to uplift and help each other grow. Empowerment is using our gifts and talents to do what we were born to do, and to do it passionately.”
Jakia was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. After leaving home at age 21 she began her career as a teacher and motivational speaker in Dallas, Texas. Jakia has always had an extreme passion for helping others. Her love for others was the driving force behind the creation of her non-profit ‘Sisters In Unity’, an organization designed to uplift and empower women with the tools needed to live their best life on purpose. Jakia has always had a desire to reach people via artistic expression, so in 2007 she released her 1 st book ‘Made For Change’. After becoming a published author, she then began managing writers and musicians in the MarylandDC area. After returning home in 2015 she reconnected with her childhood friend and Taja’ Productions was born. Jakia accredits all of her many accomplishments to God! 9
Minister
Raleigh Thornton
10
Minister Raleigh Thornton Jr. of Dayton. Ohio is a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to those in need. Minister Thornton is also an accomplished spiritual mentor, motivational speaker, event host, comedian, author, activist, psalmist, and radio host. When asked about his singing career, which began at age two, Minister Thornton responded “I love to uplift people through the gift of music. There is no greater joy then witnessing someone's countenance change while singing”. On Dec. 7th 2014 Minister Thornton became a licensed Minister of the Gospel and preached his first sermon. When asked about this experience Minster Thornton responded “this was probably the most exhilarating experience in my 46 years of living. Since then I have been doing my best to push the gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world”. Minister Thornton uses social media outlets such as Facebook , YouTube, Internet Radio, and many others to spread the Gospel. Minister Thornton was recently appointed the Miami Valley District Association as an Evangelist . When asked why he choose Ministry Minister Thornton states “I would have to say God has been so amazing in saving me from myself that the choice was so clear. This love affair I have found in Jesus I want to share with the world. This generation that is at such a disadvantage . The technology that is at their fingertips thrusts them into activities way beyond their years. The times of my youth were blessed with a plethora of role models, today the role models that are needed are gone. I feel it is my duty to try to motivate one person at a time; each one reach one so to speak”. When asked about his book Minister Thornton says “I'm so excited about my first book ‘Pretty In His Presence’. This book is written to encourage my sisters in Christ to stay in the presence of God through the challenges of life. It is co-authored by nine ladies two of whom are my mother and sister. This book has been a blessing to all who have read it. If you’re going through something I urge you don't walk out on God because He is right there with you! The safest place in any storm is right in the middle because that's where Jesus is. The storm maker, the storm breaker! No man works like Him! This journey of life takes us places and shakes us in unimaginable ways. How much harder would this human experience be without the presence of God? I know the answer. I pray that you never have to ask that question”. To book visit www.raleighthornton@wordpress.com Email: rolandfortunert@gmail.com 11
Living A Victimless Life Nikki Webb
why does he let such awful things happen to his most innocent creaIs everyone always against tion; children? How does the Devil you? Does the Universe seem to have a strong hold in their lives so never show you favor? Do those early? If you are sitting in the dark around you seem to always win and you always lose? Do you often because your lights have been cut off, don’t blame the Devil. Ask feel like ‘why do I have so many yourself, ‘Did I pay my bill? Did I haters? go to work every day so I will If you answered ‘yes’ to any of have enough money to pay all my these questions, you may consider bills on time?’ asking yourself – Why do I feel I’m not saying don’t believe in this way? My daughter lives her life with openness, abundance, and a higher power or pray. I’m saying recognize the role you and your happiness. It is because she lives her life this way that her rewards thoughts play into your outcomes. If you wake up every day and only from the universe are endless!!! see the bad or negative things then My daughter wins at EVERYTHING even when she doesn’t try. that is what is drawn to you beI have taken her to fashion shows, cause that is the filter you are lookbaby showers, other events and left ing through. There will always be empty handed while she walks out setbacks in life beyond our control with at least one prize every time. however, your response to those setbacks can either be a complete People often attribute everyroad closure or a speed bump. You thing good to God and everything must tailor your responses and bad to the Devil. Have you ever thoughts accordingly without placheard this and thought; what did ing blame anywhere except where you do to contribute to the situait belongs. tion? I hate this thought process. If God is so powerful and so good, 12
You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind or to put it another way, a negative mind will never give you a positive life. There are numerous self-help books geared toward helping you live your best life full of positivity and happiness. If you’re like me and you don’t have time to read, here are some simple things you can do to help you stop being the victim and sitting on the sidelines of your own life. When something good happens, take responsibility for your role. Give God/the Universe its due but also recognize your hard work and dedication to whatever it is. When something bad/negative happens, take responsibility for the role you played in making it happen. If you get fired, don’t blame the Devil, blame yourself for poor attendance, poor performance, or whatever reason you were fired for. Look for the good in your life. Be thankful for another day to experience the good, the bad and the ugly. There is a lesson in all of it!!! The good are the favorable things you like and want repeated; the bad are those less than desirable outcomes that hurt you but don’t break you; the ugly are things that truly set you back and you want to be sure to never repeat or cause again. Take time for yourself. Self-care matters. Take some time each day to do something you enjoy. Watch a movie, read a book, complete a puzzle on paper or jigsaw pieces, watch some mindless television to give your brain a break, dance, sing, meet a friend for lunch; you get the idea! Be open to it all! Wake up each day ready to take on the world and all it has to offer! There is a lesson in it all! 13
