The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1971. In 2006 (95 session), in accordance with the development of industrial policy of government and the College of Engineering and Technology, and the needs of manufacturers in nearby industrial parks such as Sinying Industrial Park, Southern Taiwan Science Park, Tainan Technology Industrial Park, Guantian Industrial Park, and Yijhu Industrial
Park, the department has done a lot of Industry-University cooperative researches with the manufacturers in nearby industrial parks to research into new techniques together, and push forward a variety of professional technique training and on-the-job training for employees in neighboring areas to carry out lifetime education and promote prosperity and development of the nearby areas.

Direction NJU is located in Yenshui District, Tainan City, which is southern part of Taiwan Island. NJU is easily accessible Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), and by car. It takes less than 20 minutes to Hsinying Station of TRA, and/or Chiayi Station of THSR.
