CHANGING LIVES & ASPIRATIONS THROUGH MUSIC

As well as presenting our two acclaimed music festivals each year (three in 2015!) we also run a pioneering Learning & Participation programme of music projects in our home borough of Tower Hamlets and increasingly, further into East London. Each year we-reach over 10,000 people aged from 6 months to 90+ with activities in schools, hospitals, parks, children’s centres, libraries and even Spitalfields City farm. We believe in the power of music to change lives and build communities. By unleashing the boundless creativity of people within our local

community, weaving participatory activities into our festival programming – and by sharing our approach through training schemes and with a host of partner organisations – we simply aim to delight, inspire and connect people through exceptional music. A recognised innovator within our field our Learning & Participation work has won five national awards and, as well as serving East London, is in demand across the UK and Europe. We focus our activity on three key areas: Children & Young People Through a series of bespoke and groundbreaking music projects within schools, nurseries and children’s centres we create inspiring and fun musical opportunities for children and young people to develop their confidence, creativity and life skills. In the community Using our expertise as a creative hub within the borough, we deliver a range of community projects, exploring and celebrating Tower Hamlets while developing ways to support cross-cultural and inter-generational collaboration. Training for the future Through courses and training schemes, we provide first-hand experience of music education in community settings, helping young people develop the practical and professional skills needed to establish successful careers, and supporting the development of the next generation of pioneering creative leaders.
