When the going gets tough the tough go
! G N I P P O SH
I watch with resignation as the Rand plummets against the Euro. Then I get a brilliant idea. Let’s go to Europe! What?! Are you crazy woman? You can’t afford it. Yes, I’m crazy and yes I can’t afford it. And your point is…? Let me explain my reasoning… If I don’t do it now, my paltry savings will be worth even less next year… and the year after. How do I know this? I keep getting reassuring emails from the financial companies telling me how I shouldn’t panic during these turbulent times. I’m not panicking boetie, I suspect you are. I sure as hell ain’t gonna throw more good money after bad to take care of me in my old age. I’m old now, and I want to go overseas now and eat poffertjes in Amsterdam and browse through old musty chateaux in France and shop for more magical treasures at the brocantes markets for Amulet. Yes I’m shamelessly showing off that I have a smattering of French and even a little Dutch and Deutch in my arsenal. After all, my ancestors hail from the North which explains my yearning to spend time there – even though it is bitterly cold and rainy this time of year … Or maybe because it’s bitterly cold and rainy. Off I go to the friendly Bernadine at Flight Centre. A few hours later, half my budget has been blown. I have booked flights there and back. And I have paid for exactly 3 days accommodation in Amsterdam. Well not Amsterdam proper – I have to reside 15 minutes out of the city to vaguely afford a place where I can at least have my own
bathroom. The only affordable Hotel in the Dutch Capital is in a seriously dodgy part of town. Luckily I checked the reviews on Google first. “Dirty, horrible, I was robbed while sleeping!” Thought that only happened in our third world country. (!?) Now I have 17 unpaid accommodation days left – and I can hardly go camping in that weather. Frankly, I won’t even go camping in good weather. Even if it’s part of my European adventure. No turning back now… In for a penny, in for two thousand rand a day it seems. (And I’m slumming it!) If you are reading this and you have a little (affordable) place somewhere up North (with its own bathroom, ha-ha) please contact me ASAP. Luckily my darling Percy is encouraging me all the way. He’ll keep the fort at the shop (he makes much better coffee than me anyway). I suspect he’s secretly looking forward to some peace and quiet while I’m squeezing blood out of every last euro. He has strict instructions to finally fix the plumbing at our crumbling abode. Luckily I have finally sourced an affordable plumber (amazing what you find out at your weekly pottery class). Note to self: start an educational fund for my grandchild (no, my daughter isn’t pregnant). Encourage him/her to become a plumber. Very well-paying job. In the same week that I went to see my GP (R500 for a 15 min visit) Walker Bay Plumbers came to the shop, changed a washer and charged us R855. (washer included). Granted the doctor didn’t change my washer.

Are there still bargains in the world? What can one Euro buy you? (at the time of going to press: 1Euro = R16, let’s make it R20 with the extra fees) Not much in Europe. But in Amulet: 2 and a half brownies, Gorgeous ribbon. 2 Mini cards, 10 mini flower heads, 2 gift tags… 10 diamante pins…. The list goes on… Check out the photographs to get an idea of why Europeans are flocking to our shores. We are cheap. Please come spend your Euros, Dollars, Pounds… We have to kick-start the economy ourselves and tourism is the way to go it seems. We have to keep in mind that it has to be pitch-dark first before you can notice the little flickering light in the distance… The big bad wolf is huffing and puffing… but hasn’t managed to blow our resilience down. I may be traveling to the lands of my forefathers, but I am coming back. Not only because they don’t want any more African refugees and I’m simply not rich enough to survive in Europe, but because I want to. I’m taking my daughter along to show her how the other half lives but also to make her realize how amazing our home country is. My tribe lives here. We may not always understand the ways of Africa but we love her. Of course she’s a ‘her’. She’s way too fickle and complicated to be a man. Africa has space. Tons of it. Nowhere else in the world would we be able to afford a house with a magnificent sea view. I can hear the sea, smell it, feel it… In my country I can have
a shop and write and act and even direct a movie should I feel that way inclined. We’ve been doing it all by ourselves for so little for so long… I for one will get bored of just doing the same thing every day. Apparently it’s called being an entrepreneur. Or a survivor. To add fuel to the fire, my entrepreneurial spirit also needs to be challenged on a creative level. Mmmm. Dangerous. Every banker’s nightmare. But also delightful. You are welcome to come experience the outcome of that creative urge in Amulet. Anytime. While I was complaining about the weak Rand earlier, a friend sent me a post on Facebook reminding me that traveling is an experience that increases in value long after you’ve returned. You are so right, my friend. It will be money well spent. And after about five minutes of surrendering to this thought, an acquaintance contacted me and introduced me to her friend in Normany, France. I was promptly invited to go visit… by an Afrikaans woman from Bredasdorp who’s been in France for the past 16 years. See what I mean? My tribe. She doesn’t know me, but she misses her country, where she left her heart. Normany wasn’t on the cards and it’s a little out of the way, but I’ve decided to make the detour and take her some Hermanus magic all the way from Amulet… I will be back at the start of November, hopefully with some treasures. If not, at least I will have enough stories and memories to last me until next time… A bientôt! (See you soon). xxxx

How the ZULU WAR created sailing boat wrecks off the Overberg coastline Perhaps it’s the distorted fact or contradiction that the rock that sunk the Birkenhead was or is to this day more apparent in stormy waters than it is in calm waters. Lloyds would certainly pay out on that mystery rock, a heavily loaded vessel bound for Algoa bay, loaded to the brim with boxes of Martini Henry rifles in preparation for the pending Zulu War and eventual invasion of the Transvaal & Orange Free State. The resultant calm waters suggested a more sinister reason pointing to haphazard information of Zulu agents sinking the ship, perhaps closer to the truth, but extremely embarrassing for Queen Victoria’s envoy. The urban legends around The Birkenhead are numerous, namely ten foot golden Steenbras & mermaids (one survivor swears by God, a hideous female face with claws and fishtail which he fought off) attacking the survivors in the water. Also rumoured is the chest payment for the soldiers removed on a skiff hours before, which ran aground off Sandbaai. The survivor annals in the British museum have some integrity, namely sharks only attacked those who stripped naked
and ignored those in their flannels and red tunics. The band certainly played on as women and children were the first to be lowered into the lifeboats. Whether Zulu agents sank the Birkenhead or not , a similar Victorian PRO decoy was the illumination of the bravery at Rorkes Drift to disembowel the great loss of Isandlewanah hours before that where an entire British force under Chelmsford was wiped out. Nothing could shake the immovable fat lady as the lure of gold and diamonds in the far North was greatly needed to fuel the colony wars in Sudan and India, notwithstanding the pending Transvaal war. A slow process of armament, six pounder /Gatlin Guns, rockets and Martini Henry rifles were shipped north. By 1879 an ultimatum was sent to the Zulu King Ceteswayo to lay down his arms and answer to Queen Victoria, an ultimatum that was impossible for the Zulu nation to agree with due to pestilence that had wiped out their crops and they needed their weapons to hunt. He replied with dignity and dry humour, ‘’I have forty wives and I don’t answer to any of them so

why should I answer to your one fat queen.’’ Notably apart from a few skirmishes over cattle theft (notably in Zulu territory) the very reason to invade Zululand was preposterous, just the cost alone didn’t justify the means or cause. The real reason was to mobilise on the borders of the Transvaal and Orange Free State for an invasion. The Zulus were incredibly discerning and ruthlessly honourable, e.g. When Piet Retief kept back some of the cattle , claiming he was returning all and then joining hands in prayer , Dingaan assumed wizardry, while the invasion of Rorkes Drift across the Buffalo river by Ceteswayo’s half-brother (married regiment) defiantly broke the Zulu treaty. This zealous attack after hearing about the Isandlewanah victory left thousands of Zulu widows homeless resulting in Ceteswayo strangling his half-brother to death for not following orders. With the pending planned attack on the Zulu head IMPI of Ulundi; horses were needed to pull those Gatlin guns and cannons. Thus the Pisa, a wooden hulled Italian sailing vessel (Barque) four sails or more loaded with horses was
bound for Natal but ran aground off the Botrivier mouth, so near that many of the horses managed to make it to the beach, yes the wild horses of Rooisand Nature Reserve are the remnant of that sailing ship. Contrary to the website the Euro horses don’t live off salt water and never adapted to the cold environment by growing longer manes & fur in the winter months, all Euro horses have this characteristic and believe me the weather in the Overberg, is a lot friendlier than the winters of Europe. The salt water legend arose due to the horses moving up and down with the Botriver tide which changes frequently like many others, Onrust River, Kafferkuil in Stilbaai and Hermanus Mond. However like the elephants of Knysna they do sip the salt water for medicinal purposes, as they do in Spain. Perhaps the survival of those horses was blessed, alternatively to pulling six- pounder cannons over the ravaged hills of Natal being scathed by Zulu assegais. The truth and the conspiracy weaves a web of deceit often fuelling dormant hatred of the past, what followed was a
wasted Boer war that they could never have won , woman left alone on the farms and treacherous concentration camps. Then the lies that British soldiers fed glass into the food of children in concentration camps, notwithstanding that the only glass was crystal used by the officers while Brit / Irish , Scot & Welsh recruits had menial wooden and tin decanters? Thank God for Emily Hobhouse who gave us the honest account, however another camouflaged fact was that more than a quarter of the Boer women married Brit, Irish & Scot soldiers, many of us, including myself- have mixed heritage. As Edwin Starr sang ‘’War what’s it good for?” Did the Zulu agents deal a secondary blow to Victoria’s unyielding mobilisation of armament in the Natal colony or was it just another reef with sailing boats trying to save time by hugging the coastline? We will never know the truth to any of those massive shipwrecks that found final resting place along the Overberg coastline, but for those that have gazed across those wetlands at those wild horses, a fitting epitaph to a story better left at the bottom of the ocean.

LAW AND ORDER/ LAWN ORDURE
A
re we inherently good or are we bad? Do we need LAW or is a good moral conscience enough to create a just and peaceful society? ‘’The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers’’ Dick, a butcher and friend of Cade, the Rebel, in Shakespeare’s; HENRY VI, Part 2
‘’Send lawyers, guns and money; the sh*t has hit the fan’’ ACTUAL TELEGRAM FROM DR HUNTER S THOMPSON, JOURNALIST AUTHOR TO HIS EDITOR AFTER BEING ARRESTED IN CENTRAL AMERICA COVERING A CIVIL WAR. 1970’S
These two quotes may serve to illustrate the centuries old debate on the need for law [and lawyers] in society. On one hand, a rough anarchist view by Dick and the cynical pragmatism of Hunter S Thompson, who had many tangles with the law in his life.
Just before Dick said ‘’Let’s kill all the lawyers’’ his leader Cade, the rebel, had vowed ‘’radical economic transformation!’’ In his England, he says, there would be no private property, no money, all food and drink will be provided by Cade, and, ominously, all will dress in the same uniform….and then Cade rounds out his glorious vision ‘’… that they [the people] may agree like brothers and worship me, their lord’’ Oops. Sounds like our rebel Cade quickly tripped from his peoples’ paradise to the North Korean model of ‘’peoples’ paradise.’’ That, alas, is what happens historically with anarchist experiments – a leader emerges and at best the experiment thing untangles but worst it becomes a personality cult, many of which end in mass killing and war.
Needless was written Law, where none opprest; The Law of Man was written in his breast; No suppliant crowds before the Judge appeared: No Court erected yet, nor cause was hear’d; But all was safe, for Conscience was their guard Second argument; Man is not inherently good and we need law and order. Despite sweet Ovid the Romans had sophisticated laws and civil government [which with a bit of cut and paste and a decent dollop of Dutch, became part of our law]
Assuming man to be inherently good, yet there is still a hankering to an utopian past, as in the time of the Roman Ovid, who wrote; The Golden Age was first; When Man yet new No rule but uncorrupted reason knew; And with a native bent, did Good pursue Unforc’d by punishment, unaw’d by fear His words were simple, and his soul sincere:
– Adrian Louw
The Romans were by no means alone in the ancient world in the belief of law and order. In China, 3rd Century BC, the Legists believed that man ‘s nature was evil and men behaved only due to good rituals and the restraints of penal laws. ‘’A single law, enforced by severe penalties, is worth more for the maintenance of order than all the words of all the sages’’ What is taken as obvious today, having a Constitutional democracy, laws and enforcement, is the result however of centuries of bloody struggle and slow tortuous development. Today, in South Africa, it is difficult to imagine yourself in a society where what you wear, where you may go, what you know and may learn, where you work and live, every small wish you may have, is dictated by a King or authoritarian ruler, only in power by accident of birth or there by violence! So, the limitation of caprice and power of Kings
is also the story of law for all, made by the people for the people. In the West, the reluctant signing by [bad] King John of the Magna Carta [Great Charter] in 1215, first modestly limited the English Kings powers, in favour of the barons, and it brought some legal reforms, such as independent judges and habeas corpus. The Magna Carta was quickly condemned by the Roman Catholic Church as interference in the Kings authority, being according to the Church, from God. Magna Carta Version 1, thus died soon after birth, but was followed by many others. The fragile sapling of democracy and rule of law, trampled upon repeatedly, survived and grew to the mighty oak of English parliament and law, followed all across the English speaking world, and yes, with a bit of ‘’cut and paste’’, it too became part of our law! But valid arguments worldwide are increasing for less law, more deregulation, for less intrusive law [e.g on personal sphere of internet by US government agencies] but at same time more enforcement by police and other law enforcement officials of laws, traffic ordinances and anti social behaviour [locally, those noisy neighbours, those aberrant dog owner behaviour]. My take on this ; find that fine balance of personal freedom and social order, enforce laws without fear or favour, education of and about law, such as this article and ‘’owning’’ the Constitution, by every South African. ‘’The highest perfection in society is found in the union of order and anarchy’’ PROUDHON [The Idea of Law, by Dennis Lloyd, Penguin 1964, Chapter 1, is gratefully acknowledged.]

All about me … this summer Spring is officially here! Is your skin ready for the warm months ahead? If you’ve been relishing the wintertime as an opportunity to cover up, it’s time to talk professional skincare. Whether you’re interested in clearing up sun damage, tightening skin on your neck, slimming your midsection, or any other dermal tune-ups, we have the treatment that will fit.
3. Eye Regen to treat dark circles under the eyes! Dark circles and hollowing under the eyes is a giveaway of age. 'Tear Trough' treatment is a simple procedure that refreshes and rejuvenates tired eyes. Dermal Filler delivers an instant plumping effect in the eye area. Maintenance with Carboxytherapy, where small amounts of CO2 gas gets inserted under the eye can give you a refreshed and opened eye look. One also has the option of soft surgery, with a PLEXR machine. This treatment give a lower or upper eyelid lift comparable with surgery. Look good in photos and avoid the panda eye look! 4. Muscle Relaxant to avoid worsening your frown lines. These procedures are going to help get you ready for swimsuit season, and they’ll get you loving your skin and body along the way. You may be planning your time away and increasing your workout intensity to look great in your bikini. Most people focus on the body but don’t forget your face too. You want to look your best in photos to remind you of good times so below are OUR top treatments to help you look and feel your best in the summer months! 1. Three-for-me Laser Treatment for Sun Damage, Skin Resurfacing and Tightening Say goodbye to tired, dull skin—and hello to a brighter, younger-looking you this summer!
Avoid getting any frown lines this summer holiday by gently relaxing the muscles, creating a softer and refreshed look. Botulinum toxin is a non toxic muscle relaxant injected in tiny quantities into specific face muscles to give a relaxed, healthy appearance. “ My specialty is producing a natural look without you losing your expression! We are meant for facial expressions! It’s what makes us human!” - Dr. Michelle Emett 5. Treatment for excessive underarm sweating Feel proud and confident with clean, dry and fresh smelling underarms when you’re on your summer holidays. Treatment of hyperhidrosis or excessive underarm sweating is an easy and quick procedure using botulinum toxin. Most patients describe “It’s like an on-off button” and their life is changed for the better! No more embarrassing sweat marks and having to throw your favourite clothes away.
The Three-For-Me™ laser treatment is the proven way to solve all of your skin concerns at once. As we age we commonly feel that our skin appears to be tired and not as vibrant as it once was. This occurs due to aging, sun exposure and genetics. Now it is easy to get back the brighter skin you desire.
6. Laser Hair Removal
Only the Three-For-Me treatment can address three common skin concerns – wrinkles, sun damage and facial veins – all within one procedure. The first pass of the Three-For-Me laser treatment uses an “Intense Pulsed Light” (IPL) technology. This improves your skin’s appearance by removing discolorations and pigmentation caused by exposure to the sun. The IPL also fixes unwanted spider veins and broken blood vessels on your face. Immediately after the IPL treatment, a “microbeam” laser technology is used to boost the collagen and elastin production in your skin which smooth’s out unwanted wrinkles & scarring. Addressing multiple skin issues at once revitalizes your overall skin and renews your natural glow. 2. Skin Booster for glowing skin without makeup! Skin Boosters or Mesotherapy is a gentle procedure using tiny needles to inject vitamins, hyaluronic acid and other products into the skin to stimulate skin rejuvenation. Perfect for an intense boost of hyaluronic acid just under the skin to ensure skin plumping, hydration and smoothing for beautiful glowing skin without makeup.
Laser hair removal is a popular method of ridding unwanted hair, and managing excessive or abnormal hair growth. This pain-free treatment eliminates almost all hair types from the desired areas. Facial hair is a high concern due to the high visibility, which can create self-consciousness among some. During summer don’t get with caught unsightly hair. 7. Get rid of the bulge The best “beat the bulge” treatment would be to combine a few modalities before summer hits us! We recommend a package of Lipodissolve, Radiofrequency- Tripollar, Carboxytherapy as well as the LPG massage to manage all aspects of cellulite at once. Book for a comprehensive analysis, and we will recommend the suitable package for your needs. 8. Get the GLOW… We love the Vita Liberata, tried and tested spray tan, that delivers the most natural and long lasting looking tan.
With everything under one roof, we will help you , look your best this summer!

Waarheen is SARU oppad?
N
‘The fundamentals necessary for sustainable competitive advantage’ into the future of its existence. In my previous articles in Splash Magazine I dealt with a variety of the fundamental principals which lead to the core of who and what the Springbok is all about. Fundamentals are exactly what the word says and if you do not recognize it for what is and do not handle it with care you are playing with fire. The red Springbok jersey is a good example. The identity of the Springbok team is green. If you take that away the team will lose its identity together with what it stands for and represents. The pink Blue Bulls are also a good example. Gimmicks could be very dangerous – irrespective of how noble the cause may be. The loss of identity is not a one-day exercise, it is a process of events and circumstances. Ongelukkig vir SARU is Steve Jobs reg bewys. The basic principals involved in the selection of a Springbok side can never be negotiated on any other terms and conditions than merit. You must select the best team. For that to happen, you must have the best possible knowledge available and stand and fall by their knowledge application and subsequent decisions. The team that they select must be able to win matches. The same question, but from the other side would be: ‘How were we going to beat the All Blacks?’ You cannot just run over opponents if they are right in front of you.
Coaching and its place in finding the solution to the problem or reactivating the system to make the Springboks a competitive team again, becomes very difficult. If you do not understand what went wrong in the first place, it is virtually impossible to rectify the problem or it will in any case take a very long time to solve the ‘problem’. Skill development and application of those skills in the game context is badly needed. Individual skills must be synchronized to become unit skills and the successful application of the unit will create the opportunities. The principals of coaching are very closely related to this field of production and before we get coaches who understand that formula, we will always battle to know why we win matches and why we lose matches. The art of the game. Keep on looking for that aspect and enjoy the game that has so many facets to it. It is mind boggling. Enjoy...

Hi everyone. As usual I have selected quite a diverse collection of Artists and Genres. From Alice Cooper to Passenger, something for everyone. Please join me on the Drive Show Monday to Friday from 4 to 6 pm and you might want to request one of these songs.
The Boy Who Cried Wolf by Passenger
Released July 2017. This is the 8th studio album in as many years from Michael Rosenberg aka Passenger. This busy Indie Folk singer/ songwriter is going to be taking a long deserved break. With his distinctive vocals and his skill in writing beautiful acoustic songs, he has gained many fans, who will no doubt enjoy this album. Personally, I preferred his previous Album ‘Young As The Morning, Old as the Sea’.
Canvas Canopies and Awnings
The Night We Met by Lord Huron
Paranormal by Alice Cooper
As You Were by Liam Gallagher
Let Me Fly by Mike and the Mechanics
Lord Huron is an American Indie Folk band based in Los Angeles. Their name was inspired by the name of the lake where founder Ben Schneider would spend evenings playing music around the campfire. This track is off their Album Strange Trails released April 2015. This little known band is experiencing an elevation in profile because this song was featured in the first season of the TV Series 13 Reasons Why. The poetic lyrics and the mysterious vibe of their sound makes for enjoyable listening.
The official release date for this Album is October 6th. Two tracks have been pre released “For What Its Worth” and “Wall of Glass”. This English singer/songwriter rose to fame as lead singer of rock band Oasis. His erratic behaviour, distinctive singing style and abrasive attitude has made one of the most recognisable figures in modern British music. His older brother Noel wrote most of Oasis’ songs, although Liam did write a couple of singles.
Released July 28, His 27th Studio Album, features the likes of ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and U2’s Larry Mullen alongside some original bandmates. Alice Cooper was an American Rock Band which rose to success in the early 70’s. They were notorious for their theatrical shock rock stage shows. Lead Singer Vince Furnier legally changed his name to Alice Cooper and has had a solo career under that name since the band became inactive in 1975. At 69 years of age Cooper, with his unique raspy voice, is a reminder that loud, lumbering rock never goes out of style.
Released April 2017, this is the first album since 2011’s The Road. This English pop/rock supergroup formed in 1985 as a side project of Mike Rutherford, one of the founding members of the band Genesis. The band took a break in 2004. In 2010 Mike re-formed his Mechanics. New vocalists Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar are involved in the creative process. One can hear that the songs on this Album are based on fresh ideas and all the tracks are equally good.

Forza Ferrari – sadly not... A slight deviation from 4x4... Observations on driving in Italy and mixing it with the ‘Tifosi’ at Monza during the Italian Grand Prix. Driving 3249 km in Italy in 14 days is totally different from a 2 week 6000 km trip to the Epupa Falls and back. Apart from driving on the ‘wrong’ side, it is like driving in ‘city-traffic’ all the time. My own Garmin was uploaded with the latest map of Italy. One can choose toll roads, highways and/or back roads. When pressed for time, the toll roads are the best choice. The average speed on the back roads, can be as low as 50 km/h. From a scenic perspective though, the back roads are the way to go. You see mostly smaller cars, hatchbacks, SUVs and many trucks, nearly no sedans. The traffic flow, despite the volume, is excellent, partly due to the use of traffic circles. These need to be taken by slowing down slightly, but never stop, unless required. Some of the roads are very narrow, to the extent that cars travelling in opposite directions need to pass each other with extreme caution. Compared to SA drivers, the discipline of the Italians on the highways of not over taking in a ‘slower’ lane was impressive. The ‘fastest’ lane is called the passing lane, as is its sole purpose.
It made it so much safer and easier to use the highways. We took the back roads on the trip between Siena and Modena. Although the distance was only 215 km, it took more than six hours. We crossed some of the most challenging and picturesque mountain passes I have ever driven. Some corners were so sharp, that it became ‘rubberised’ by the rear wheels of trucks skidding around the corner due to the acute sharpness. This piece of road was more challenging than the famous Stelvio Pass. Stelvio is impressive as it is crossed at a height 3800 m. If you plan to drive it, arrive very early in the morning. During midday, the traffic is a bit chaotic, including many cyclists, taking on one of the climbs of the Giro d’Italia. The Monza Grand Prix circuit, is situated in a national park about 15 km north of Milan. We had no trouble travelling there and back by car. No problems were experienced with traffic congestion. On the Friday I heard a current F1 machine, in real life, for the first time. Unfortunately it was an anticlimax. The F2 and Porsche Super Cup cars sounded more like powerful racing cars. Perhaps I expected too much. The F2 cars have non-turbo V8 4.0 L engines built by Renault. The
1.6L turbocharged ‘mill’ of the F1 cars, the word ‘mill’ is used specifically, sounded more like a ‘souped up’ moped.
– Francois van Rooyen
Qualifying on the Saturday was nearly rained out. YR Weather predicted 2.9 mm of rain for the day. They got the decimal point wrong. It was more likely 29 mm of rain from early morning until about 3:30 pm. The Ferraris qualified poorly. Also on race day, they were out paced by Mercedes. That left the ‘Tifosi’ rather subdued and also definitely not what a Ferrari fan, coming all the way from SA, wanted to see! The thorough beating of the local favourites came as a bit of a shocker to them. Ferrari’s supposed ‘show’ at Monza was part 70th birthday celebrations. Visiting Italy by road is a challenging but a great experience. It allows one to get off the beaten track into the smaller towns and villages. The last place we stayed at in Marina Grande, basically ‘at the sea steps’ of Sorrento, was the high light of our trip. Taking a walk one evening, we saw the owner of a restaurant, catching Dorado with a net, at his entrance. A real catch of the day. Whatever you do with your 4x4 – enjoy it, respect nature and remember – To off-road is to live!
