ADULT DANCE CLASSES
Adult Dance Classes! These exciting dance classes are jointly offered through City of Spokane Valley and City of Liberty Lake Parks and Recreation Departments. Location: CenterPlace Special Instructions: Please bring a clean, dry pair of shoes. Dance shoes may be purchased through Dance Class, but are not required. Instructor: Melissa Finke: 509-993-1204 or fasterfoxtrot@yahoo.com *Fee: for a partnership $95 for a single or $55
*Ballroom Classics What most people think of when the word Ballroom is used is three dances: Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot. Ballroom will usually focus on one of these dances, in particular American Social Foxtrot, American Waltz, and American Tango. All three of these dances are considered ‘progressive’ dances, meaning they move around the floor rather than staying in one general spot. This class is designed to teach beginners the basics and challenge already accomplished dancers. (Min. Reg. 6) Ages: Adults; Ages 16 & Up Day: Mon. Session Dates: April 23 – June 4 (no class May 28) June 11– July 16 July 23 – Aug. 27 Time: 5:30 - 6:20pm
*Swing This class will usually focus on what is commonly known as East Coast Swing. Elements of Lindy Hop, Charleston, Jive and who knows what else may be taught as they all go together seamlessly. West Coast Swing may also be taught at student’s request, however, East Coast is recommended for beginners. This class is designed to teach beginners the basics and challenge already accomplished dancers. (Min. Reg. 6) Ages: Adults; Ages 16 & Up Day: Mon. Session Dates: April 23 – June 4 (no class May 28) June 11 – July 16 July 23 – Aug. 27 Time: 6:30 -7:20pm
*Latin and Night Club
This class will focus on fun Latin favorites such as Salsa/Mambo, Cha Cha, Rumba, Merengue and possibly others such as Bolero. Night Club 2 Step is the perfect ballroom dance to replace the old junior high “hug and wobble.” Like all of our classes, beginners are welcome, but veteran dancers will be challenged with new techniques and elements.(Min. Reg. 6) Ages: Adults; Ages 16 & Up Day: Mon. Session Dates: April 23 – June 4 (no class May 28) June 11 – July 16 July 23 – Aug. 27 Time: 7:30 - 8:30pm
Beginning Partner Dances This class focuses on the box step essentials from Rumba, Foxtrot and Waltz. Students will learn box figures that can be used in all three rhythms, allowing couples to dance to Waltz, Foxtrot or Latin Music. Wedding couples will be given entrances and exits for their big dance and may bring their wedding song to class if they have chosen one. Class is designed to teach beginners the basics, but will have techniques and figures sure to challenge already accomplished dancers. Ages: Adults; Ages 16 & Up Day: Wed. Session Dates: April 11 – May 2 May 9 - 30 June 6 – 27 July 11 – Aug 1 Aug. 8 - 29 Time: 6:40 - 7:30pm Fee: $35 for a single or $65 for a partnership (per 4 wk session)
