Stocking Tutorial Materials you’ll need: 1 yard of Fleece fabric, ribbon or complementary scrap fabric for strap, sewing machine, coordinating thread and free digital pattern. 1.

Cut the pattern pieces, then fold your yard of fabric in half and cut out your pieces so you have two of each.
TIP: You can make two stockings from 1 yard of fabric. 2.
Sew the sock by pinning the right sides together and sewing around the edge with a 1/4" seam allowance.

Assemble the white cuff by placing the right sides together and sewing the short edges of the cuff.
TIP: Since Fleece doesn't fray, you can skip hemming or for a perfectly finished look, hem the cuff on one side. 4.
Sew cuff, strap and the sock together by folding your strap in half lengthwise so that the raw ends of the strap meet. With the wrong side of the stocking facing you, pin the raw edge of your strap to the top, raw edge of the stocking.
With the right side of the cuff facing the wrong side of the stocking, pin and stitch raw edges together with the strap sandwiched between the cuff and stocking. TIP: Use fabric scraps instead of ribbon to make a strap. 5.
Flip your stocking right side out and fold the cuff of your stocking down. The strap should pop out of the top. Your stocking is ready to be hung and filled to the brim!

Make a Repeating Pattern
Fun little drawings can have big impact when turned into a repeating pattern on a throw pillow.
FROM A DRAWING IN ADOBE ® PHOTOSHOP ® Note: This tutorial is best suited for artwork on white paper. 1. Scan your artwork at 300 DPI and open it in Photoshop. Use Replace Color, to make sure the background of the image is pure white. Click Image > Adjustments > Replace Color, make sure “Preview” is checked, and set the “Fuzziness” to 25. Next click on the background of the image; that hue will appear in the box labeled “Color.” Drag the “Lightness” slider all the way to the right—the “Result” box will turn white. You should see your image background turn bright white as well. Click “OK.”

TIP: To adjust the colors of your image further use Image > Adjustments > Hue & Saturation and edit as needed. 2. Focusing on one element at a time, use the Lasso tool (in the side toolbar) to trace around your element as close as possible. “Copy” (command+C) and “Paste” (command+V) your selection; this will put it on a new layer. Repeat this process with any remaining elements. 3. Set up a new canvas to create your repeat by going to File > New. Any dimension will work (but a square is easiest). Set the Resolution “DPI” to 150, Color Mode to RGB and click “Create.” Be sure to remember the measurements for the center point of your design as you’ll need it later. For example, if your canvas is a 1200px square the center point would be 600px.

4. Go back to your first canvas and click on one of your element layers. Make a selection of that layer under menu Select > All (command+A) and “Copy” it. Then “Paste” the element into your new canvas. Resize (if needed) and place it in the center. TIP: To resize your element, use the Transform tool under Edit > Transform > Scale (command+T). Hold “Shift” while clicking and dragging from the corners, and press “Enter” to confirm the new size. 5. Make a duplicate of your first layer by clicking Layer > Duplicate Layer and click “OK” (command+J). Select your new layer and choose Filter > Other > Offset from the menu. 6. In the offset tool, enter the center point of your canvas (see Step 3) in the “Horizontal” and “Vertical” boxes. Click “OK.” 7. Your element should now repeat in each corner of your canvas with your first element still in the center. Now simply fill any empty space on your canvas with additional design elements (should you choose), being careful not to touch the edges of your canvas with any of the other elements. That's it! When you’re happy with your repeat, save out an image as a JPEG or PNG under File > Save As and upload to Spoonflower.

There’s no easier way to extend your little one’s wardrobe than leggings. Layer them over your baby’s onesie and grab your camera to capture all the darling moments—from scooting to first steps. B

Materials you’ll need: 1 fat quarter of Organic Cotton Knit Ultra, matching thread, ¾" wide elastic, fabric scissors, sewing machine, measuring tape, fabric pen and free digital pattern

Project cost: Under $20 1.
Wash your fabric according to the care instructions, and iron on the reverse side. Fold each edge of the fabric in parallel to the selvage to meet in the middle.
2.
Trace the leg pattern piece along the left fold, and cut out your fabric. Flip the pattern piece and repeat this step on the right fold of the fabric.
3.
Cut out two of the rectangle pattern pieces from the remaining fabric.
4.
Unfold the leg pieces, and place together with right sides facing. Note that the widest straight edge is the waistband. Pin the long sides from the waist to where the fabric makes a point, and sew with a zigzag stitch using a ½" seam allowance.
5.
Reshape the leggings so the seams you’ve just sewn are now in the center instead of on the sides. Pin the legs together around the inseam with right sides facing, and stitch together.
6.
Turn leggings right side out. Fold about ¼ – ½" of the waistband over, wrong sides facing and zigzag stitch around the top.
