There are 10 golf courses in Slovenia and 17 practice areas from the panonian north-east to the karst southwest, from the meadows under the Julian Alps to the hills by the Sava River.

Besides their appearance, favourable points also include accessibility, openness and different possibilities for learning to play – for individual enthusiasts who wish to improve their knowledge and also for beginners, children and families‌ The Bled golf course has the longest tradition in Slovenia; it was visited by players before WWII. In 1976, the first golf tournament in Slovenia was also held there. A decade ago the new Lake Course with water hazards was added to the King’s Course overlooking the alpine peaks.

Other courses available to golfers besides the courses at Bled, include: Lipica, the home of the white Lipizzaner horses, which is also a starting point for exploring the Karst; in Arboretum Volčji Potok, with its attractive ancient park; in Mokrice sheltered by the picturesque castle and near Terme Čatež spa; in Moravske Toplice in the picturesque Panonian landscape with thermal waters; in Ptuj, which attracts visitors with the tradition of the being the oldest Slovenian town; in Slovenske Konjice where the course is sheltered by vine growing hills; Podčetrtek near Terme Olimia spa; at Otočec in the vicinity of the romantic castle; and in Trnovo in Ljubljana.

Bled has something for everyone from the magnificent mountains, the calming peace of the lake, a mild and healthy climate, and wonderfully refreshing alpine air. Bled is a well-known alpine resort which manages to retain natural charm alongside lively tourist hustle and bustle. Diverse wonders await you including Bled’s exquisite cuisine, a boat trip with a traditional ‘pletna’ boat to the island on Lake Bled, a fairytale cliff top castle, a museum and gallery, numerous public events, and the excitement of the casino. In addition, in summer you may take a refreshing swim, relax in a thermal water swimming pool, go rafting on tumbling, surging alpine rivers or unwind in enchanting corners of the Triglav National Park. Of course, there is also the golf.

The Bled golf course is the oldest in Slovenia, dating back to 1937. It is said by many to be one of the most beautiful courses in Europe. Covering more than 100 hectares with two courses designed by Donald Harradine, it is also the biggest in Slovenia. It is a challenge to new golfers and professionals alike. Bled’s unique natural environment, crowned by Stol, the highest mountain in the Karavanke mountain range, and the special nature of the course offer plenty of excitement for everyone. In addition to the two courses, the 18-hole King’s Course and the 9-hole Lake Course, Bled Golf Course also features a driving range for long and short play and a pitching and putting green. Golfers can develop their game or freshen up their skills with the help of experienced instructors. There is also an equipment and clothing shop, and equipment may be rented on the course. The course hosts many tournaments, including the PGA European Challenge Tour. It is also the setting for numerous other events and a starting point for excursions that enrich the stay of golfers and their family.

Mokrice

The golf course CASTLE MOKRICE is set in the hilly landscape of Slovenia’s Dolenjska region. Nestled amongst parkland in the lee of the stunning medieval Mokrice Castle, the course offers far-reaching views of the surrounding vineyards and countryside. The course at Castle Mokrice offers beginners and experienced golfers alike myriad opportunities to enjoy a variety of challenges on its lush, tranquil greens.

Designed by architect Donald Harradine, the 70 hectare golf course has 18 expertly planned greens that provide a diverse and enjoyable game. Each hole has been specifically designed to test the golfer with different skills, but the Par 4, fifth hole will challenge even the most experienced golfer. It is Mokrice’s most difficult and many claim that it is one of the most testing in Europe. A clean tee-off with a drive at least 200 metres down the fairway is essential to have any chance of reaching the green with the second shot. With a somewhat narrow fairway, a slope to the left and a water hazard to the right, ultimate success comes down to the skill, or maybe the luck, of the player on the day.

The course covers more than 50 hectares and is distinguished primarily by lush greenery and water. The Studenčnica stream and two lakes complement fifteen of its eighteen holes. The course successfully combines its greenery with views of the ancient city and the authentic flora and fauna of Ptuj’s natural surroundings. The Ptuj Thermal Spa is in the immediate vicinity of the golf course and along with the hotels, bars, and restaurants in the city offers golfers additional opportunities for relaxation. Ptuj km 130

Otočec

Otočec Golf Course, the newest course in Slovenia, is situated only 5 km away from the town of Novo mesto. It extends along the River Krka and is only a stone’s throw from two famous castles in Slovenia – Otočec Castle and Struga Castle. The new course is built according to the latest standards for building golf courses and is set on a hilly terrain surrounded by forest. Each hole has five sets of tees making the course attractive for both professional and amateur golfers. Fairways are in harmony with the surroundings, with many mounds and basins from where a golf ball is to be played towards big but rather undemanding greens. Due to the diverse landscape, embraced by trees and lakes, golfers can enjoy spectacular views along the fairways.. Despite the fact that Otočec Golf Course is the longest course in Slovenia, the game ends too quickly due to its beautiful surroundings and wide fairways. After the game you can enjoy the excellent culinary dishes on offer at Otočec Castle or Tango Restaurant. Besides playing golf, there are also other activities you can enjoy including tennis, rowing, archery and panoramic flights. To help you relax and improve your health a visit to the Vitarium Spa&Clinique centre at Šmarješke Toplice Spa is highly recommended.

It is naturally stirred up and entirely rounded up with vineyards. Playing fields are variegated with a brook, which flows in the middle of the golf course, water hazards, wood and shrubbery. The golf course has 9 holes with a common length 2500 m and it has a pair 35. The ground is pleasant for the game, but it requires precise hits. Power and length are not important by playing, but first of all the thoughtfulness and a high degree of concentration. The golf course is open from March to November. In the range of our activities we have arranged also the training golf course, where we organize golf instructions, continuation courses for children and young people and individual learning hours. In the reception of the golf course it is possible to buy topmost wines at discount prices.

Based in Otočec, close to Novo mesto city. Otočec offers a famous romantic castle renovated into a 5* hotel on a small island in the middle of the Krka river. Hidden in the solitude of an English park is the Mokrice Castle, with a good restaurant and wine cellar, located just next to the golf course. You will be surprised what can you find in Olimje, the third oldest apothecary in Europe, chocolate factory, church from year 1545 with octagon bell, private brewery and beautiful golf course.

IDEAS FOR NON-GOLFERS:

There’s the Lower Town, full of wide boulevards, huge squares and Secession architecture. Then there’s the Upper Town, which is cosy, intimate and has a distinctly medieval ambience (67 km from Otočec). Ljubljana sightseeing: it’s known as one of the most charming European capitals, so one day around the city will not be enough. Ensure that you do not miss the old part of the city, Ljubljana castle, Tivoli Park and no doubt you will find something or somewhere just for you (70 km from Otočec).

Novo mesto sightseeing: situated in the midst of the hilly landscape of Dolenjska and embraced by the Krka River, an abundance of nature, tradition and culture can be a real experience for every visitor. The Krka Valley, located just above Novo mesto is, in the opinion of many, the most beautiful river valley in Slovenia, with tender banks, picturesque rapids and natural dams which emphasise its nature (6 km from Otočec).

Matjaževa domačija: this 150 year old country house was restored and refurnished with over 100 year old furniture, an original kitchen range and baker’s oven and “upgraded” with a modern sauna and ethnic cellar. The perfect place for nostalgic memories of a grandparents’ way of life. Your welcome will include a whole loaf of homemade bread, salami sausage and the local wine, Cviček (1 km from Otočec).

Zagreb sightseeing: what to see in Zagreb? Plenty, for Zagreb is really two cities in one.

Olimje: visit the third oldest apothecary in Europe, a chocolate factory, a church from the year

1545 with octagon bell, a private brewery and Ježovnik’s household, known as a very good restaurant. Here you will be welcomed by 100 deer, which move freely in the area of 8 hectares (66 km from Otočec). Wellness Vitarium Spa & Clinique Šmarješke Toplice: a relaxing and effective centre where programmes offer a step towards good and better health. You can gain a revival of body energy, improve health and aesthetic appearance, as well as open abilities of the body and mind. The programmes are individually tailored and are based on natural procedures with measurable effects (3 km from Otočec). Repnice: these caves are dug into pebble sand which was deposited by the Pannonian Sea. Today, they are sometimes still used for storing crops but mostly they are used during ripening or storage of wine. The high humidity does not allow wine to be stored in wooden barrels. This is why the farmers use stainless steel containers and glass bottles. Here, visitors can taste the typical wines of the vine region of Bizeljsko for example, Chardonnay, Welschriesling and Traminec.

NOTES Accommodation is for shared double or twin occupancy, single occupancy with supplement. Suggested golf itinerary depends on exact dates, day of arrival and arrangement with the guests.
