Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries
The craft beverage industry is thriving in Springfield and the Ozarks. When Springfield Brewing Company opened its doors in downtown Springfield in 1997, it was the talk of the town. Missouri’s third-largest city finally had a brewpub. The craft brewery and restaurant quickly became the go-to venue in the Queen City where visitors could grab a cold one in the tradition of English-, German- and American-style ales and lagers. That was just the beginning.
Springfield is now home to eight microbreweries with more on the way and a distillery. Wineries are also becoming more common in the area. As the wine industry in Missouri has grown tremendously over the last three decades, southwest Missouri is getting in on the business with more than a dozen wineries within a day’s drive from Springfield. Just a short drive from Springfield in Walnut Grove, Missouri, is 7C’s Winery — a hometown winery well-known for its wines and meads (wines made from honey) as well as its annual Mead Fest.
Now that you’re more familiar with what the Springfield area has to offer in craft beverages, it’s time to plan your tour of these unique places in southwest Missouri. Take the Ozarks Tap and Pour Craft Beverage Tour and embark on a journey around the Ozarks to experience the region’s growing brewery, winery and distillery scene.
The 2019 Tap and Pour Craft Beverage Tour will launch in May.
