WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT SQUAMISH RECREATION SERVICES IS LAUNCHING A NEW ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM LATER THIS FALL! The new user-friendly system is:
FAST FLEXIBLE and EASY TO USE with enhanced features that will allow customers to create their own passwords, search programs by topic or age and purchase or renew memberships with ease.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
MEMBERSHIPS
REGISTRATION BEGINS SEPTEMBER 1.
During our modified operations, new multi-visit memberships are not available for purchase. This includes 10 and 20 visit cards, monthly and yearly passes.
How to Register: • Visit squamishlive.ca • Log in to your account with your login ID and PIN. You can retrieve a forgotten PIN using an email address linked to your account. If you do not have an account with us, or if you have questions about your login information, please call 604.898.3604. or • Visit Brennan Park Recreation Centre to register in person.
CREDIT & REFUND POLICY Credits will be valid for 12 months (one year) from the date of issue. No refunds or credits will be issued after the 12 month period. An administrative fee of $10 will be charged for refund cheques requested by client. A full explanation of when fees can be credited or refunded is available at squamish.ca/recreation-credit-and-refund-policy.
Customers with 10 and 20 visit cards purchased before March 2020 may use them to book spots for swimming or skating. To do this, please call us at 604.898.3604. As long as a spot is available, we will book you into the time you’d like and remove the value from your card in the same way we would do if you had forgotten your swipe card in the past. These visit cards do not expire. All monthly and yearly memberships that were current in March 2020 remain on hold. Please visit squamish.ca/fees-and-memberships for details.
RECREATION ACCESS PROGRAM The Recreation Access Pass (RAP) program allows Squamish residents who are in financial need to access Recreation Services programs at a discounted rate. Visit squamish.ca/programs-and-activities for eligibility and application details.
ARENA THE WHAT’S WHAT OF SKATING PUBLIC SKATE
Everyone is welcome! Come and meet up with friends and socialize while skating in this fun environment. Skate Patrol staff are on the ice to supervise and support skaters. No strollers on the ice during this time.
FAMILY SKATE
For parents and children to skate together in a slower-paced setting. Children must be accompanied by a paid adult. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Skate Patrol staff are on the ice to supervise and support families.
PARENT & CHILD SKATE
Come practice fundamental skating skills in a fun, relaxed environment. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Adults must be with their children on the ice. Ice shared with Recreation Programs.
TOONIE SKATES
These are little snippets of ice time for anyone to come have a skate. Children under 19y must be supervised. Adults must be directly supervising their children. No hockey sticks or pucks are permitted. Ice may be shared with Recreation programs.
PARENT & CHILD HOCKEY UP TO 12 YEARS OLD
Online pre-registration is available due to limited capacity. Helmets are required and full gear is recommended. Pucks and sticks are not provided. For safety, strollers and skate aids are not allowed on the ice. Adults must be directly supervising their children. Note: This is not a team coaching session.
YOUTH STICK AND PUCK 13-18 YEARS OLD
Online pre-registration is available due to limited capacity. Youth are welcome to practice their stick-handling and skating skills in a supervised environment. Helmet, gloves, and stick are required. No goalies or scrimmages. Parental consent forms are available at the front desk and MUST be filled out prior to attendance.
ADULT DROP-IN HOCKEY (19+)
A chance to drop in and work on some hockey skills. Maximum of 20 players plus two goalies (goalies are free). Full gear is required. Participants must be at least 19 years of age.
ADULT DROP-IN STICK & PUCK (19+)
Helmets, gloves and ice hockey stick are required. No goalies or scrimmages. Work on your skating skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Participants must be at least 19 years of age. This is a slower-paced program so please be courteous of all participants.
OVERTIME HOCKEY FOR 60Y+
Overtime Hockey is an ice time for players 60y+ to get together and enjoy a low-key hockey game. Those under 60y+ may participate if they are at the slower pace and skill level of this group. Full gear is required.
$ We strongly recommend the use of helmets for all arena programs. Skate rentals available: $2.50 for children $5 for adults. Schedule: squamish.ca/ice
COME SKATE WITH US HELMETS
We have a very limited supply of CSA-approved helmets for the public to borrow. We stongly recommend that you bring your own helmet to arena programs.

Parent & Tot LITTLE SNEAKERS
1-5y Play, explore and move your body in our ultimate indoor playground! Children will enjoy and benefit from being physically active and making new friends in a safe, social environment filled with slides, climbers, riding toys, sports equipment and much more! This unstructured program requires active parent participation. Each session will conclude with an instructor-led group circle and reflection. Equipment will vary with each session to keep the little ones engaged and on their toes. Reduced rates are available for the second child in the same family. Drop-in spaces are available for $6.50 if space permits. Children under one are free; second, third and any additional children within the same family pay only half price. Squamish Bike Camps
SQUAMISH BIKE CAMPS Through quality coaching and instruction, with a focus on safety and fun, riders aged 7 to 13 years will develop their mountain bike skills, confidence, and love of the sport. This is not a learn-to-ride program, basic biking skills are required as this program takes riding ‘off-road’ and onto the trails where we’ll find rocks, roots, loose gravel, dirt, and other obstacles. Competency riding ‘green’ level trails, riding uphill and downhill, as well as the use of hand-brakes and gears are required. Riders will explore trails appropriate for their groups’ overall riding ability. These programs may not take place at Brennan Park - you may be asked to meet our coaches at a different location which will be communicated via email. SQUAMISH GYMNASTICS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP PRE-REGISTRATION
Registration for your Squamish Gymnastics Membership is a requirement for participation in all Squamish Gymnastics programs. You must register and pay membership fees in person at Brennan Park Recreation Centre in advance of September 15 in order to participate in any gymnastics programs. Cost for the 2021-2022 member year is $42. Membership is valid from Sept 1, 2021-August 31, 2022 and is nonrefundable. Fees include Gymnastics BC & Gymnastics Canada Memberships and participants' insurance.

A Gymnastics BC Member Registration Form is required for each registered child and must be received at the time of class registration. Assumption of Risks/Waiver Form is required for each registered child and for each adult accompanying a child in a parent participation program. GYMNASTICS FREESTYLE FUNDANMENTALS
These classes are great for all genders and will increase fitness, develop confidence and build the fundamental movement skills necessary for participation in any sport. Kids will have the opportunity to explore gymnastics as well as a variety of other gymnastics-based activities such as PARKOUR and FREESTYLE MOVEMENT with an emphasis on safe landing techniques. This is also a great starting point for older kids with no previous gymnastics experience who are interested in joining the achievement program. •

ACHIEVEMENT GYMNASTICS

BURLESQUE WORKSHOP
Bring out your inner goddess while having fun and getting fit. In this workshop you will learn how to move your body like a burlesque star, with confidence, elegance and attitude. You will learn signature burlesque moves, styling and a sassy choreographed dance – (with an option to perform it at the end). FAME FOR STROKE
19y+ The Fitness and Mobility Exercise Program is specifically designed to improve fitness, mobility and strength for individuals affected by stroke. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and the University of British Columbia, this class includes functional strengthening, agility, fitness and balance exercises. This program is suitable for people at any time after stroke who are able to stand for five minutes, walk 10 metres with a walking aid, and who are able to communicate effectively with the instructor. SOCIAL RUNNING GROUP
This volunteer-led group runs together for the shared joy of running, the fun and social connection it brings us, and to keep fit. We run on all terrain and in all weather conditions. Some of us run races. We stop for pictures, to catch our breath, and to admire the beauty around us. We try to accommodate a variety of paces but ask that you can run for at least 30 minutes. This program offers 20 minutes of a full body cardio warm up. It will include 15 minutes of strengthening which will help increase awareness of your back in relation to the rest of your body. SOCIAL HIKING AND WALKING PROGRAM
Join us on Wednesday mornings for the 55y+ Social Hiking & Walking Program! Discover local Squamish trails in a small group setting – rain or shine. We’re offering a variety of hikes and walks for every fitness level, sign up for one, or all! Pre-registration is required. Level of difficulty ranges from 1 – 5. The trail rating scale is determined by elevation, distance and terrain type. We recommend starting with a beginner trail if you’re new to hiking, or returning to fitness. EASY: This walk is appropriate for beginners with mostly flat terrain, wide paths of either paved or gravel and may contain sections of road or sidewalk. EASY/MODERATE: This walk is appropriate for beginners, contains mainly flat terrain and may contain some single track, gravel, roots, rocks or bridges. MODERATE/INTERMEDIATE: This hike includes some elevation gain/loss, potential obstacles (such as fallen logs, boulders) and may cover longer distances. INTERMEDIATE: This hike includes more elevation gain/loss, steeper sections of trail, covers longer distances and/or contains exposure on sections. NATIONAL LIFEGUARD POOL OPTION
16y+ National Lifeguard (NL) trains you to be a lifeguard. Teamwork, leadership, communication and prevention is emphasized. This 44 hr. course is required to obtain employment at swimming pools in BC. Must by 15 years old by the last day of the course. Must have completed Bronze Cross (does not need to be current) and Standard First Aid (recommend it be current). A manual is included in the course fee. 15y+ Becoming a Red Cross Swim Instructor is more than just a rewarding career choice: It’s a well-paying job that is always in demand. The WSI course is comprised of four modules. To receive your certification, you must successfully complete all four modules within a one-year period. It is our intent to run this course with a minimum of two registrants. For detailed program information, please call 604.898.3604. We are not currently offering these programs this season. If you are interested in being added to a waitlist for the NL course, please contact rhurford@squamish.ca Module 1: Stroke and Skills Assessment 100% attendance required. Prerequisite: Emergency First Aid or Bronze Cross or equivalent. All strokes and water skills will be assessed as part of this course. At the end of the session, details will be provided about the next three modules. Module 2 – approx 20 hrs This module is an online course designed to be completed at the student’s own pace prior to beginning the next module. Instructions for Module 2 and 3 will be provided when you complete Module 1. The Module is completed online, from home. Module 3 – 8+ hrs (10 hrs recommended) In this module, participants practice teaching preschool and school-aged kids alongside an experienced swim instructor. This module can be set up for you by your WSIT, once you have Module 1 and 2 completed. Module 4 – 21+ hrs In these classroom and pool sessions, participants will examine strategies for planning, teaching, developing and evaluating strokes and water safety skills. This course requires 100% attendance. We are not currently offering these programs this season.
