Tuesday 24th April 2018 // The Brain Addison Stadium // Attendance:50 Squires Gate extended their unbeaten run to 10 games on Tuesday night beating AFC Darwen 4-0. The previous game between these two sides saw Gate win 1-0 away at AFC Darwen back in September Dean Ing with the only goal after two minutes. Gate could have scored early in this one aswell through Gary Pett after 5 minutes. But his clever flick from Richards cross was saved by the keeper. Ryan Charnley was the next to take aim when he cut inside after 11 minutes but Darwen deflected his shot for a corner which couldn’t capitalise from. Gate opened the scoring after 31 minutes, the inform Gary Pett played on as Darwen stopped to protest with the officials for offside leaving Pett with the easy task of slotting past the keeper. Dean Ing found himself in the right place at the right time for Gate just before half time, but his touch and shot first time went over the bar.
Half time: Squires Gate 1-0 AFC Darwen
Gate and Gary Pett were denied a second goal on 54 minutes when he was ruled offside. First Max Rothwell arrived late into the box but was denied by the keeper, then with the ball up in the air, Pett headed in at the back post but was the wrong side of the defender. Ryan Riley would double Gate’s lead after 61 minutes with his first for the club since returning. The ball falling kindly for the winger who showed great composure to chip the ball over the on rushing keeper. Max Rothwell then looked to get in on the goal scoring act after scoring the only goal in Gate’s 1-0 win on Saturday. He let rip from outside the box on 70 minutes but his shot clipped the crossbar with the keeper stood still. Sub Jordan Salthouse had the first of three great chances since he came on but for all three the sub was denied by a good goalkeeping display to keeper the scoreline down. Another sub Connor Finalyson got his second goal for the club with possibly the easiest chance of his football career. Scott Harries shot was well saved by the keeper but he spilled the ball into the path of Finalyson who had the easy task of tapping in. Ryan Riley then grabbed his second of the game Ito the last ten minutes when Finlayson set him up. The sub cut the ball back for Riley who made no mistake to fire past the keeper for his second and Gate’s fourth.

Saturday 28th April 2018 // Townfields Stadium // Attendance:92 The homeside caught Gate out after just three minutes to take the lead. A soft looking ball into the box found the run of Brian Matthews, he cut inside and stroked the ball past Fletcher. Not long after the opening goal, Gate were forced into an early change. Max Rothwell made way for Tarren Moxon who looked to have picked up a knock on his knee. Moxon made an instant impact in the game winning Gate a corner with his first run forward. From the corner Dean Ing’s shot was blocked before the second corner fell to Gate captain Scott Harries, but he blasted over the bar. Gate had claims for a penalty turned down after 16 minutes when Dean Ing looked to be pushed in the back. The young midfielder went up for a header but when a Vic’s defender pushed up with two hands in his back, the referee waved away Gate’s protests. Gate again looked to threaten with three corners in a row. First Ryan Riley’s corner was begging for a touch as he sent a lovely ball under the crossbar that was cleared out by the homeside. Scott Harries was next to go close from a corner for Gate but Vics cleared before he could meet the ball. Then Gary Pett came close from the resulting corner but the ball just curled out at the back post before he could meet it. Andrew Richards was the next to go close with ten minutes of the first half left. He took aim from outside the box but saw his shot go just over the bar
Goal scorer Brian Matthews looked to win his side a penalty as the first half came to a close but the forward’s dive was waved away by the referee. Vic’s second chance of the first half came on the stroke of half time. Midfielder Oscar Durnin arriving late to meet a knock down but he fired over the bar.
Half time: Northwich Victoria 1-0 Squires Gate Gate started the second half with the same urgency as the first and equalised after 51 minutes. A corner to Vics was cleared allowing Gate to counter. The ball fell loose and was played back to Vics keeper Donlon who sliced his clearance when put under pressure. The ball fell to Ryan Riley who stayed composed to finish past the recovering keeper for his third goal in two games. Corners for both sides saw Dan Gray go close from the edge of the box but his shot was over the bar. Then he and his fellow defenders did well to defend a Vics corner with Alex Colquhoun clearing. Ben Fletcher has to be alert after 74 minutes when he denied Durnin. A cross from Vics fell to Durnin on the opposite side of the box but Fletcher was equal to the shot. Dean Ing took aim for Gate from outside the box after Gary Pett had done well to set him up with the header but he fired over the bar. Sub Ryan Charnley then had a great chance as Gary Pett put a testing ball into the box but he couldn’t meet the cross.

Thursday 3rd May 2018 //Millbank Linnets Stadium // Attendance:458 The two teams both had big stakes riding on this game on Tuesday night. A win for Runcorn Linnets would seem then crowned league champions whilst a win or a draw for Squires Gate would see them go 12 games unbeaten. In what was a tense opening ten minutes both sides had early chances to take the lead. Ryan Riley head the ball on to Gary Pett after two minutes but his first time volley was just over the bar. Paul Shanley sending a first time shot towards goal but Ben Fletcher was behind it well to smother the shot. Ben Fletcher has to be alert again on 12 minutes to deny Freddie Potter one on one, Gate’s keeper getting down well at the strikers feet to block the shot with his foot. Linnets would score a minute later though. The corner headed past Fletcher with a glanced header by defender Matthew Atherton. Ben Fletcher again had to be alert to deny Linnets this time stopping Kristian Holt at his feet one on one. The homeside doubled their lead on 35 minutes. Alex Colquhoun’s clearance hit one of his own players falling into the path of Freddie Potter for the striker to fire in for his first of the night.
Half time: Runcorn Linnets 2-0 Squires Gate Gate went close at the start of the second half through Dean Ing. First Gary Pett won a header then Scott Harries flicked the ball into the path of Ing but his volley was saved by the keeper. Gary Pett then went close on 56 minutes from Ryan Riley’s cross. Pett was inches away from turning the cross in but just couldn’t reach it. The homeside added the third goal of the night after 61 minutes. Linnets caught Gate on the counter with Freddie Potter heading in his second of the game. Linnets fourth goal came from a defensive mix up from Gate. Joey Mullen’s clearence falling straight to sub Antony Hickey who took a touch and curled the ball past Fletcher. The now League Champions Linnets rounded off the win with a goal with the last kick of he game. Another sub Chris Lawton tapping in at the back post. The win see’s Runcorn Linnets crowned league champions and puts and end to Gate’s 11 game unbeaten run. Gate are next in action on Saturday when they host 1874 Northwich.

THE BOSS
PAUL BOWYER & WANYE GOODISON These two took charge at the start off this season and been looking to improve on there last year finished , they two 1874 Northwich in there first season to the semi of fa vase and are now safety in the premier division again next year. The Joint management will be looking to end the season as good as they started it and ended it with 3 points however they know The home side today will be no walk over as they have just been on a massive 11 game unbeaten run up until Thursday night where Gate lost 5-0 to Champion Linnets. Today will be great game for both sides and hopefully both manager will end the game with a drink a the bar and a very entering game for all to watch.
BREIF HISTORY The outcome of this hard work came to fruition when, in April 2013 the news came through that 1874’s application to join the First all of which continue to this day and attract droves of supporters, players and back-room staff. Added to this is the ever popular annual 1874 Beer Festival which draws an attendance of over 300 and raises over £3000 for the club! A 300+ club has also been established and the money generated from this initiative helps to reduce the club’s reliance on gate receipts as its principal source of income. The club has also started to develop, build and nurture relationships with several key stakeholders. For instance, well respected local company Britannia Carpets now been the clubs’ main sponsors for each year of our existence. In addition, we have also introduced the ‘#Working Together’ initiative with a number of small and medium local businesses whom agree to support 1874 in exchange for giving fans of 1874 discounts on their services and products. During season 15/16, 1874 had a very successful relationship with Winsford based Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) – which provides a range of unique services and specialist advice for adults with Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions. During the 12 month deal, a total of £3,033 was raised for this worthwhile cause. This was followed-up by an equally successful two-year joint arrangement with our landlords Winsford United to become joint partners to another hugely deserving local charity, St Luke’s Hospice. As part of this deal, the home stadium of the two clubs has been re-named ‘The St Luke’s Stadium’ and in the first 12 months both clubs have collectively raised £3,338. This amount was subsequently matched by Thor Specialities (UK) Ltd, in a fantastic gesture for a fabulous cause. The partnership with Winsford United and St Luke’s is yet another example of how 1874 is demonstrating its commitment to be a ‘community’ club in terms of actions rather than words. Collections for local food banks, clothing for refugees, attendance at community events and support for other charitable causes have clearly demonstrated that we are not all about what happens between 3 and 4.45 pm every Saturday. Looking to the future, a Stadium Development Sub-Committee has also been formed with the remit of finding 1874 a permanent home in or close to Northwich. The 2015/16 season also saw the club run an U21 side, who finished a very credible fourth in the Cheshire U21 County League Championship division. We intend to build on the establishment of this team as a stepping stone towards the creation of other sides covering all age groups, gender and abilities and the coming season will see the first junior side bearing the name of the club. Any mention of the 15/16 season cannot ignore another extremely competent and satisfying league campaign that ended with a fourth place finish. But undoubtedly the highlight of the season was the 3-0 drubbing of local rivals Witton Albion in the Mid Cheshire District Cup Final on their own patch. On the pitch, the higher placed side were out-fought and out-played whilst off the pitch they were out-numbered and out-shouted by the exuberant and delighted 1874 faithful! The 2016/17 season almost exactly mirrored that of its immediate predecessor with a solid fifth place finish allied with a 2-0 win over a certain Northwich Victoria FC that resulted in the retention of the District Cup – a very sweet success indeed! The U21’s continued to thrive and several have now made appearances for the first team – a pattern that, if continued, bodes well for the future. If there was one down-side to last season it came about in early March when our first manager, Ian Street, decided that he wanted to pursue another challenge and chose to leave the club. ‘Streety’ played an instrumental part in building up 1874 from just a ‘paper’ club to where it is today and all 1874’s supporters will always be truly grateful for the hard-work, dedication and time he put in during his time as ‘The Gaffer’. But Ian’s departure presented an opportunity for his back-room team of Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison to step up to the plate and both will act as joint managers for the coming campaign. With the Premier Division of the Hallmark Security again likely to be an extremely competitive league, the 2017/18 season will no doubt be as challenging but as exciting and exhilarating as our first four campaigns. And with a new, contemporary corporate identity in place – which was the brainchild of three of our talented members - everyone associated with 1874 is looking forward to the coming campaign with a great deal of excitement and anticipation.
WE’VE MET BEFORE SQUIRE GATE 1874 NORTHWICH

SATURDAY 13TH AUGUST 2016
he two teams met at the start of last season with 1874 Northwich winning that game 2-0 with Gate looking off the mark. 1874 Northwich had made some serous signings over the close season with three players coming in that won the league with Glossop North End two years ago. The visitors started with a good attacking tempo and could have been ahead after a minute, but Stuart Wellstead headed wide. Gate then had a chance of their own by Anthony Stayte volleyed the wrong side of the post. It wouldn't take Stayte log to have another chance in fact just two minutes later he opened the scoring. Him and Ryan Tanser linked up well with the latter's cross cleared into the path of Stayte who superbly volleyed straight into the top corner. The first half was very end to end with either team having chances one after another. After Gate had opened the scoring Joe Noblet tried his luck from the edge of the box before Stuart Wellstead headed over from the corner for 1874. Gate played some good football in 1874's area and that was evident on 20 minutes when they broke away from a 1874 corner. The ball was headed clear by Hall to Joe Noblet who led the attack. He found the run of Ric Seear who was sent wide, he crossed into Stayte who passed the ball across goal to Noblet but he couldn't get the final touch. Gate had the chance to capitalise on 1874 when keeper Greg Hall tired to pass it short to his defender. The ball fell to the feet of Stayte who looked to play the first time pass into the run of Ryan Tanser. Unfortunately for Gate the pass was cut out with Tanser going through one on one should the pass have found him. The visitors had several chances towards the end of the first half but Gate defended well particularly new signing Paul Carroll and player manager Danny Penswick. On 35 minutes there was pinball in the area before Richards did well to block left back Matt Russell's shot. From the resulting corner the visitors fired wide as Gate saw out the first half to go in at half time 1-0 up.The second half didn't start the best way for Gate as after just three minutes 1874 equalised. Right back Paul Conner getting forward to fizz a cross into the back post to find Tom Bailey who headed past Fletcher to level the score. Gate wouldn't have to wait much longer to take the lead again though. Three minutes after 1874 equalised, striker Ric Seear curled an unstoppable wonder goal into the top corner to give Gate the lead. Seear turning in and out of the defender before picking his spot with accuracy. Gate went on to play some lovely football in 1874's half of the pitch. Though Gate couldn't really find that key pass they looked comfortable in possession. First Ryan Tanser had the chance to pick out his strike partner in the box but his cross was easily caught, then Ric Seear tried to replicate his goal but this time Hall did well to save. Ric Seear then had another chance from a freekick after a foul on him but his touch was too soft and juts took the ball wide. Four minutes later Squires Gate would make it 3-1. Joe Noblet finding the feet of Ric Seear who turned and fired low into the bottom corner. Seear showing good awareness to turn and shoot in one swift movement. The visitors then had several chances to grab a goal back down the other end of the pitch. First they fired wide after several shots that were blocked. Then from a freekick Gate did well to first block the shot in the wall before Ben Fletcher got over well to save the follow up shot which he surely couldn't have seen till late! Gate wrapped up the points in added time and the last kick of the game. Gate hitting 1874 on the break with Noblet, Seear and Dawson breaking forward. Seear found the run of Noblet who showed his class to chip the ball over Hall who was off his line and seal the points for Gate!

SATURDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2017
Despite the early set back Gate then went on to react positively to it having a good spell of possession. First Joe Noblet fired a shot straight into the hands Greg Hall before Ben Seear's cross looking for Brett Dawson couldn't just find the striker. Mike Hall then showed his quality on the ball after 10 minutes when his inch perfect through ball found the run of Ben Seear but his curling shot was saved by Hall and the following corner also saved. The home sides second goal came in a rather fortunate way. Gate trying to retain possession and looking in no real danger passed the ball square. Unfortunately for Gate the match referee got in the way of the pass with the ball dropping to and 1874 attacker who was left one on one with Gate's full backs forward making themselves available for a pass. The ball was then passed into the box where Jason Carey was to slot home his first for the club after 29 minutes. Again though Gate still didn't try to let the goal get them down and continued to try and find a way back into the game. The lone man up top, Brett Dawson, had two great chances both coming from his own determination. First he slid in to pinch the ball off an 1874 defender before curling the ball over the bar. Then he closed down 1874 keeper Greg Hall but couldn't capitalise by scoring with 74' recovering well. Dawson would eventually get Gate off the mark with seconds left of the first half when he rifled a shot into the top corner. The goal coming from a counter attack from the home sides corner with Joe Noblet playing the killer ball after finding time and space in midfield for Brett to score. Half time perhaps came at the wrong time for Gate with any potential momentum killed from the goal. The second half saw the hosts really step up their game and show why they're still in the promotion race. A combination of Joe Griffith saving with his feet and a Gate defender clearing the ball off the line kept the scores the same soon into the second half to deny a 1874 defender. However that would change in the 69th minute when Lee Jones added a third for his side. A short corner played into the box found Jones who struck a lovely volley right into the top corner. 1874 could have scored another a couple of minutes after their third but a determined Griffith denied them. Tom Bailey stepped up to the freekick but Griffith was equal to it to tip the ball over the bar. The follow up corner was fired right across the box. Bailey would complete his brace on 82 minutes from the spot. Joe Griffith judged to have tripped Jason Carey with Bailey stepping up to fire the ball past the keeper.

3 0
1874 NORTHWICH
Tuesday 1st May 2018/ The Marine Travel Area /Attendance:129 The visitors kicked off and AFC Liverpool were straight in their faces, closing passing lanes and forcing 1874 long. The away side to their credit dealt well under pressure at times and had good options for an out ball through Ryan Jackson, Taylor Kennerley and Kazim WaiteJackson, who all stood out. After only 5 minutes though The Reds pressing bore fruit as Greg Hall rushed a clearance that landed straight to Zach Hardacre. Hardacre burst through on goal but was unable to keep his effort under the bar but still the visitors looked shaken. This sustained period of pressure saw AFC’s corner count start to rise and it was from this they broke the deadlock. A good delivery from Bobby Evans towards Callum Edgar and Jon Croasdale caused chaos in the 1874 box and the visitors scrambled to clear. The ball was put back in and found its way to Callum Schorah who finished calmly to put his side ahead after 21 minutes. 1874 responded well and enjoyed their best period in the game but still couldn’t trouble keeper Jack Ferguson. Ryan Jackson and Taylor Kennerley came close to levelling but their efforts were over the bar and just wide. The Reds continued to play their game despite a resurgent opponent and the visitors had few answers for their aggression and energy. Callum Schorah, Anthony Lyons and Zach Hardacre continued to win the ball back for each other and continued to break the lines fashioning chances and forcing yet more corners. Physical centre half Jon Croasdale would come close to grabbing a brace just before half time with towering headers, the first forcing a great stop from Hall and the second just over the crossbar. After a frantic opening 45, 1874 Northwich will have been grateful for the whistle and fortunate to still be in the game. AFC Liverpool kicked off the second half and set the tone much as they had in the first, aggressive and intelligent in where and when to press the ball and wouldn’t have long to wait to double the lead. Bobby Evans and Sonny Parr closed the channels in the middle of the pitch forcing a back pass. Callum Schorah anticipated the pass and ran in on goal taking a good first touch and squaring the ball to Zach Hardacre who slotted beneath Hall in the 50th minute. After breaking glass and introducing Kyle Riley and Scott McGowan at half time, the visitors then rolled the dice a final time just a few minutes later to bring Samuel Hind on. A bold move that displayed their intent to get back into the game would have consequences extremely difficult to account for after the hour mark as keeper Greg Hall was dismissed for handling the ball outside the box. A moment of madness would cost the visitors dearly as they sacrificed the impressive Kazim Waite-Jackson to take over in goal, a player down and now one of their brightest outfield players light as well. The Reds smelled blood and began to play more direct with balls over the top and crosses 01 JACK FERGUSON 01 GREGORY HALL pumped in for the new keeper to contend with. Hardacre would again 02 CHRISTOPHER BRADY 02 DYLAN WAGSTER find himself in on goal in a one on one with Waite-Jackson, lobbing him but beating the crossbar in the process also. 03 BRADLEY OWEN 03 JACK LEVER 04 LEE MCCONHIE

Set pieces were targeted as they had been in the first half as an option for AFC to impose themselves. Evans delivered dangerously time and again, a scramble saw the ball headed in by a green shirt but the flag had already been raised to save any blushes. Moments later more corner confusion for the visitors after Waite-Jackson dropped a cross and Schorah’s follow up was cleared off the line. The third goal finally came following a Callum Schorah free kick toward the far post. Third time lucky for Jon Croasdale who rose the highest and powered a header beyond the keeper 3 minutes from time. Felt absolutely massive that and no more than The Reds deserved. 3-0 flattered 1874 in all honesty and I say that with respect of a quality side with some brilliant players. I also say it though because I think it’s true and out of pure respect for these lads as well. They wanted it more, simple as that. It in this context is survival, it’s status, ours and theirs, it’s the chance to stay in this league and play and beat sides like this and to get to have more nights like these. They outplayed and outfought and outthought a top side by wanting it more. Now they just have to do it again, twice. Starting on Saturday, starting with Runcorn Linnets. Until then, enjoy these lads and enjoy that win, it’s what we’re in it for
VIEW FROM AWAY END
JACK HANRATTY
This week we interviewed 1874 Northwich fan Jack Hanratty who tells us what he expectation from the season, did he feel that 1874 Northwich would be able to fit in all the game after so many games off. We also found out his dream day at Wembley and what 3 BPL Stars he would bring to Northwich. What where expectations for the season after last year finished and are you happy with where u going finished this year? Expectations were probably a bit lower than they had been the season prior in terms of the league, but top 5 was still probably seen as a realistic target and then a cup run to go with it. We've had two memorable cup runs in both the FA Cup and the Vase reaching the 3rd qualifying round and the semis, have done well in the league and if we didn't have such bad luck with all the postponements, we might still have been in a good position to push for promotion, but all things considered it's been a great season for us and we'd have definitely taken what we've had at the start of the season.
After your a lot off postponements did you think you fit all the games in? The main worry for us is the lengths we might've had to go to get all the games played in time. We've had to play games on consecutive days on multiple occasions now including 3 games in 3 days and even considered the possibility of two games in one day if we had any more spells of bad weather given we were still having games called off at the start of April, but it looks as though we won't have to go that far now thankfully, although you never know with British weather.
What do you think you need to improve on so you can keep you challenge up on the title for rest of season and into next year? We're out of it for this season, but fancy our chances for next season. Personally I think for next season we need some more goals from around the team instead of them coming primarily from our striker Scotty Mcgowan, maybe another striker that he can work off and have bit of depth in our squad to help us out if we have any fixture congestion, but given the nature of how easy it is for players to move around and get game time elsewhere at this level, that's a tough ask.
What has been our most memorable game you have seen at 1874 Northwich? Tough one to call. We've had so many memorable games this season, but I'll go for the FA Cup 3rd qualifying round replay against Ossett Town. Although we went out on penalties, we still took a side the league above us to that stage at their ground on a tuesday night and on another night, would've won with the chances we had. It was memorable off the pitch that night as well, with us taking over 200 fans and singing non stop even after we had gone out.
What teams are you looking forward to going up against this season? Usually like playing against new sides in the league and any sides that offer a good away day drinks wise for our fans.
Sam Freakes who joined us in the winter has been a strong addition to our squad and if he plays today he will be another threat. Given the rotation in our line-ups due to the backlog there's every chance non of these guys will be in the starting line-up!
Did you think you'll get to the Semi final of FA Vase and did you feel you could win in ealier rounds? Definitely didn't think that after 70 minutes in our first game against Vauxhall when we were 4-2 down at that point. We ended up scoring twice in the last 15 minutes to take it into extra time and then won it 5-4! After we got through a couple of rounds, we knew we'd have a good chance of going far if we avoided the Northern League sides and probably after the Chichester did we feel as though we could go on and win it.
Which players will be key for you this season? Mcgowan has been key for us with all the goals he's scored for us this season. Our keeper Greg Hall has been key for us this season as well, he's made some big saves at important times in games that could've got turned the other way had he not saved them. Ryan Mitchell has been great for us since he came back from City of Liverpool popping up with a couple of last minute winners which is not bad when you consider he's a centre half, a solid one of that.
If you could sign 3 Premier League players on a free transfer, who would you sign and why? David Silva, Salah and De Bruyne. They'd all be good options to have on the bench. Seriously though, Silva given he can dictate midfield and can set up chances with great passes, Salah seeing as everything he touches turns to goals, great to watch and that's from someone who hates Liverpool and De Bruyne because of the assists he'd be providing as well as the goals.
Have you been to Squires Gate before? If so, what was the score? Just the once I think, in our first season the Counties Prem, won 1-0 when you're defender scored an own goal in a very tight game.
If you were manager of a 5 a side team and had to 2 1874 Northwich playwra and 3 BPL legends. Who would be in your side and why? Hall and Mcgowan our players, Terry, Zola and Ronaldo. Hall, great shot stopper, Terry solid defender and could defend by himself at the back and then with Mcgowan, Zola and Ronaldo, you've got goals written all over their names along with the flair and creativity that Zola and Ronaldo would give in 5-a-side
Have you ever been to Wembley before? If so what game ?
What grounds Did enjoy visiting this season?
FA Cup semi between Everton and Man United a couple of years back
Congleton, it's rare to have a ground with stands on all 4 sides at our level and it has a nice clubhouse to go with it (not convinced about the cardboard bear they have in there though). Also AFC Liverpool as they play at Marine's ground, which is unusual in that one side has no stand and has houses behind it, plus it's a good away day for our fans. Mossley is another favourite, helped by the injury time equaliser from Sam Hind causing scenes and then Clitheroe after our game against Padiham was called off about 20 minutes before kick off and a few of us ventured up the road to watch them instead and having some fun with the Clitheroe crowd.
What would be your ideal scenario there at Wembley ?
Which players do you think will be the biggest threat to Gate? The obvious threat is Scotty Mcgowan, he's got 39 goals for us this season and has been on the bench in a few games recently because of our fixture backlog. Another threat is Ryan Jackson, who after a long spell out with injuries has been like a new signing since he's returned.
Kyle Riley 93rd minute winner against Morpeth, in the Vase and does the 'boat lift' (ask the Elite Riff Raff)
Are you looking forward to next season and what team do you think we be up there challenge for the title ? Definitely looking forward to next season. We've got a strong team and we're probably looking at going for promotion next season, but we'd have to wait and see what happens over the summer and pre-season. Providing all goes well in the off season into next season I'd say we've got a good chance of going up. At this stage it's hard to tell who will be up there, but I'd imagine City of Liverpool, Runcorn Town, Bootle and Ashton Athletic to be the sides we're looking at competing with next season.
Prediction for today's game? A tight game which we will win 1-0 hopefully. We don't tend to have it easy at your place.
HEAD TO HEAD IN NUMBERS There has been just 7 meeting between the two side.
Gate has scored 9 goals in there 7 meeting
1874 Northwich has won 4 out of the 7 meeting with on off the win in the Cup
293 has been the highest attatance between the two side
2013 was the first meeting of the two sides.
5-1 has been the two sides best scoring game

THIS WEEK IN FOOTBALL HISTORY We take a look back at the history of football as it happens week by week.
A PAIR OF CLINTS
2005
Clint Dempsey made his first start for the United States in a 3 -0 win over Colombia. The striker/midfielder had gotten his first cap in November 2004, but had yet to crack the starting line-up until the friendly against Colombia, played on his 22nd birthday. He was one of six players making their starting debut, including goalkeeper Jon Busch and defenders Richie Kotschau and Chad Marshall. Those three, along with substitute Nat Borchers, were playing with the national team for the first time. Dempsey was also one of two Clints on the pitch, joining The US went up 1-0 with a 25th-minute goal from Dempsey's New England Revolution teammate, Pat Noonan, with an assist from another Revolution player, Steve Ralston. Ralston also assisted on the second goal, scored by Marshall in the 33rd minute. Clint Mathis completed the win with a third goal in the 66th minute. While Dempsey did not score that day, he has since gone on to net a total of 57 goals in 141 appearances, making him the team's all-time top scorer.
SAN DIEGO TAKES IT INSIDE
1982
the San Diego Sockers won the first of their 10 indoor championships, beating the Tampa Bay Rowdies 10-5. It was the fifth NASL indoor season, with thirteen of the fourteen teams from the league's earlier outdoor season taking part. San Diego had lost in the outdoor playoffs to the Cosmos, who went on to win that title, while Tampa Bay had failed even to make it into the postseason. Tampa Bay qualified for the indoor playoffs, however, with the league's third-best record (behind Edmonton and Chicago), then advanced to the final with wins over Montreal and Tulsa. San Diego, who had finished fourth overall, reached the final by beating Vancouver and Edmonton. The final was played over two legs, with San Diego winning the first 9-7 on 3 March. Five days later, they dominated the second leg, taking a 5-0 lead in the first half en route to the 10-5 final score. San Diego striker Juli Veee, the league's top scorer that season, got a hat-trick. The Sockers went on to win four more straight titles between the NASL and MISL, then another five between 1988 and 1992.
MAKAAY MAKES HIS MARK Bayern Munich's Roy Makaay scored the Champions League's fastest goal when he netted against Real Madrid after only 10 seconds. The match was the second leg of the Round of 16. Real Madrid won the first leg at the Bernabéu 32, but Bayern's two away goals would prove to be crucial. Bayern hosted the second leg at the Allianz Arena, where a crowd of 69,500 turned out to watch Makaay's record goal. Real Madrid took the opening kick and quickly sent it back to left back Roberto Carlos, whose poor touch allowed Bayern's Hasan Salihamidžić to steal it away. He slipped behind the defensive line and centered the ball for Makaay, surging through the middle. The striker collected it and beat keeper Iker Casillas with a calm finish with just 10.12 seconds on the clock. The goal crushed the previous record of 20.07 seconds, set by Arsenal's Gilberto Silva in a 2002 match against PSV Eindhoven. The match ended 2-1 to Bayern after they got a second-half goal from Lucio (66') and Madrid got a late penalty from forward Ruud van Nistelrooy (83'). Even at 3-3 on aggregate, Bayern advanced on away goals (but lost to Milan in the quarterfinals).
2007
GATE NEWS Squires Gate delighted to announce that Manager Andy Clarkson and Assistant Manager Terry Green have agreed a new two-year deal with the club.
The pair, who joined the club in October, have really impressed the clubs committee for several different reasons, not least the first teams rise in form in the Hallmark Security Premier Division. When Andy and Terry took over, the club had picked up just seven points losing eleven of our opening fifteen games. Since taking over, the Blackpool pair have lead the club to 17 wins in 28 games, loosing 7 and drawing 4 games. The pair have led Gate to two separate unbeaten runs, the first of which came at the start of their reign which saw Gate go six games unbeaten, winning five and drawing one. The second unbeaten run came recently which saw Clarkson’s men go ten games unbeaten. The run saw us beat some of the leagues toughest sides such as Hanley Town, Ashton Athletic and Charnock Richard. During the run Gate kept five clean sheets which, if you’ve followed Gate for a couple of years, you’ll know that clean sheets are a rarity. Meeting last night, the club and management team outlined their ambitions and ideas for the forthcoming seasons for what we believe will be an exciting next chapter in this club’s history. Speaking on the new deal at the club a delighted Andy Clarkson said: “We’re really happy to have extended our deal at the club and to build on the good work that both ourselves and the club have started here. Myself and Terry are both excited to see what the future holds for us and Squires Gate as we look to push this club forward to the next step.” Just as excited about the new deal was co-chairmen Tony Jo and John Maguire who said: “Andy and Terry are just what this club needs. The two parties are a perfect fit for each other and we continue to strengthen our relationship week in week out. The atmosphere around the club is improving every week and that comes from the drive from the players and management team. We’re looking forward to seeing what the guys can do next season and beyond.”
