Thursday 12th April 2018 // The Brain Addison Stadium // Attendance:73 Squires Gate extended their unbeaten run to six games hitting Northwich Victoria for five on Thursday night. Manager Andy Clarkson welcomed back Seydou Bamba into the side after he had received from concussion in their previous home game against Charnock Richard, he replaced Dave Rossall. In a first half mainly controlled by Squires Gate, the homeside took the lead seven minutes before half time. Gate had been wasteful in front of goal up to then but had plenty of chances to open the scoring. Scott Harries with his first of the night. He jinked past his man into the box before his shot took a deflection to take the ball over the keeper and in. In a rare break into Gate’s half, Ben Fletcher stayed brave to deny the visitors in a one on one. Harries would grab his second of the game just two minutes later. In a similar part of the box, the Gate captain looped his shot over the stationary keeper for a quick fire double. Half time: Squires Gate 2-0 Northwich Victoria

A mistake from Gate early into the second half let the visitors again in one on one, but again Gate keeper Ben Fletcher did well to deny them. Gate who looked fired up for this game, would add to their lead in the 63rd minute. Gary Pett burst into the box and was hacked down by a Vics defender and the striker, who had been causing Vics problems all night finished Cooley from the spot. Pett was again in the right place at the right one when he received the ball at the back post from Harries to tap in for 4-0. Gate would round of the scoring and a massive victory through Dean Ing in the 81st minute. He showed his strength, easily getting past his man before firing past the keeper with his weak foot.

Saturday 14th April 2018 // Stadium // Attendance: Squires Gate extended their unbeaten run to seven games on Saturday with a 2-0 win away at Ashton Athletic. Manager Andy Clarkson welcomed in 18 year old keeper Lewis Turner for his debut in goal with Ben Fletcher missing, whilst Ryan Charnley came in for Ryan Riley. Gate had to be alert as early as the first minute as Alex Colquhoun cleared a shot off the line when the homeside found a way through. It was Gate who took the lead after just six minutes and it was in impressive fashion. From a freekick after a foul on Pett, Gate won a throw-in, that throw-in found Richards who played the ball into Gary Pett who side volleyed last the keeper with confidence. Gate took aim again three minutes through both Richards and Pett, but neither shot could find a way through the Ashton defence. Ashton themselves found a way through a minute later when a ball through the middle of midfield caught out Gate. Luckily for Gate the Ashton midfielder dragged his shot wide. Gate and Gary Pett were denied a second goal on 12 minutes when keeper Martin Pearson did well to save one on one. Max Rothwell and Ryan Charnley almost scored a lovely team goal on 21 minutes when they came close to linking up. Rothwell’s original corner was cleared Ryan Charnley flicking the ball over the top for Rothwell but he couldn’t stretch to meet the pass. Gate would double their lead just before half time

Ryan Charnley continuing his impressive record of scoring another important goal for the club. He was in the right place at the right time and made no mistake, showing quick footwork, to stroke the ball into the bottom corner. Half time: Ashton Athletic 0-2 Squires Gate The homeside would go close seven minutes into the second half when Josh Nicholson looked to test Turner in goal. He took aim from outside the box but Turner watched the ball over his goal. The winger again took aim from outside the box, but the shot was straight across goal not testing Turner on 56 minutes. Former Blackpool and England man Trevor Sinclair came on after 63 minutes and came close to helping Gate add another goal. He played a lovely switched ball to find his son on the opposite wing, unfortunately for Gate Dean Ing couldn’t connect with Issac Sinclair’s lovely lay off from the pass. Sinclair soon came close to opening his account for the club but was just beat to the back by keeper Pearson. Sinclair played a lovely one-two with Gary Pett whose pass set him up one on one but the keeper did well to save low. The win see’s Gate remain 9th in the league and collect their second clean sheet in a row

THE BOSS

CHRIS HIRST Chris is still only 25, but his playing career was cut short by a serious ankle injury, after spells with Macclesfield Town, Mossley, New Mills, Glossop North End and Maine Road, where he made 38 appearances, scoring 1 goal. He then turned to coaching and last season returned to Brantingham Road to assist Derek Barber in running the reserves. When Derek moved up to the first team midway through the season, Chris took over the reserves and two months later stepped up to assist Derek with the first team. In the last few weeks of the season, Chris gradually took more responsibility in the running of the first team, and once the season ended the committee took the decision to give him the job on a permanent basis. Derek Barber said: "Maine Road have now reverted back to their usual format of promoting from within, and

BREIF HISTORY The club was formed in 1955 as ‘City Supporters Rusholme’ when our past Chairman Frank Thompson and a few friends formed a team and after playing a few friendlies, joined the local Rusholme Sunday League. In the late sixties the club changed to the Manchester Amateur Sunday League and also moved its headquarters to the newly built Maine Road Social Club and hence the new name Maine Road FC was born. Ronnie Meredith was now running the club and in 1971-72 we won the Manchester County Sunday Cup and both the club’s sides won their respective leagues. This prompted Ron to look for a new challenge and he changed the whole future of the club by moving to Saturday football in the form of the Manchester League. Success followed success on the field and after several years of moving grounds we settled on our present home at Brantingham Road in 1980. After a lean spell, one of Ron’s ambitions was realised in Season 1983-84 when we won the Manchester League Premier Division. In fact, we won the league four years running. Derek Barber took over the managerial reins in 1986 and the clubs progress continued so much that, when the Manchester County FA’s new complex at Brantingham Road was built, Ron’s other ambition was achieved; entry to the Bass North West Counties League. In only our second season (1989), we finished runners up to Vauxhall Motors. Regrettably we were denied promotion due to ground grading, so in 1990 we went one better to win the 2nd Division Championship and take our rightful place in Division One. In Season 1987-88 we beat Irlam Town 1-0 at Maine Road (home of Manchester City) in the Manchester Premier Cup to complete a unique record in the Manchester County Competitions by winning all five County Cups. The five Manchester County Cups are Premier Cup (1), Amateur Cup (5), Sunday Amateur Cup (1), Intermediate Cup (2), Challenge Cup (4). At the end of Season 2001-02, after twelve seasons in the top division, Maine Road were relegated to the 2nd division. This was the first time a Maine Road side had ever been relegated and we hope it will be the last. After two seasons in the 2nd division under the guidance of Chris Simms when our very young side finished 3rd and runners up, we returned to the top division, (2004) and the club finished 8th and 10th in the following two seasons. The arrival of Ian Walker as manager (2006) saw Maine Roads improvement continue with 3 top 6 finishes in 4 seasons and the winning of the prestigious League Challenge Cup (2008). In 2012-13 John Morrey/Chris Thomas took over the managerial reins and in 2 seasons continued the improvement with a magnificent runners up spot (2013), followed by a 4th position (2014). Chris Hirst in his first full season of management has finished in a very creditable 12th position with a very young & inexperienced team. Maine Road has a long and proud reputation for attracting young players to the club. This began in the late 1980’s, which brought a succession of fine young players to the club. This success in spotting and nurturing the best young talent has continued over the past decades with Maine Road’s domination of the Umbro International Tournament at Under 19 level. Over 11 seasons our Under 19’s have taken on and regularly outplayed talented youngsters from around the world. They have won the competition an amazing 6 times and been runners up 3 times. The record set by the team of 2003 may never be surpassed when 8 of the squad regularly played 1st team football in the same season. Another factor in the continued success of the club is the outstanding loyalty shown by many players. The best examples are the appearances made by the following players Ian Walker 637, Chris Simms 556, Gordon Woods 465, John Morrey 421, Robin Gibson 386, Alex Jay 382 and Neil Chappell 377 (The top 5 players have also gone on to run the first or reserve teams). Another amazing record is that in our 60 year history we have had only 9 managers of which 8 have been ex players.

SATURDAY 24TH SEPETMBER 2016

Gate made the worst possible start to the game going behind after just five minutes. A quick Freekick found a Road winger who burst into the box. His run was stopped by Carroll who was judged to have fouled the winger conceding a penalty. Josh Woods sent the wrong way and couldn't stop Road going ahead. Gates first shot didn't come until the 11th minute. Ric Seear bursting into the box but his shot could find the side netting. The homesides danger was evident 15 minutes. Gate almost punished from their own corner and the homeside burst forward they narrowly fired wide. One of Gates best chances of the first half came for Ric Seear. Mark Buchan picked up the ball on the penalty spot but that was palmed out by the keeper. His save fell to the feet of Seear but the angle was just too tight for him to find the net. Three minutes later the homeside would have a second goal. Gate not learning from earlier in the game and we're caught on the break. Their right back's overlap going unmarked and he crossed in to the near post for Roads striker to tap in. Another three minutes and another goal for the homeside. A Freekick into the area headed into the top corner, unmarked. As soon as Gate tried to settle and play their game, the homeside hit again. Gate conceding another penalty after Josh Woods came out to collect the ball and was judged to have took the man aswell. Maine Road stepping up, and scoring again. Gate had two great chances in the last five minutes, arguably their best of the game. First Mark Buchan headed back into the area to find Dawson but his volley off balance was straight at the keeper. Then Ric Seear headed straight into the keepers arms, either side of the keeper and it would have been a goal. Gate made two changes at half time as they looked for a reaction in the second half. Off went Richards and Carroll to be replaced by Stayte and Thornber. It was the latter who almost set up a goal for Gate. Thornber's ball into the box found Seear in space, but his shot was wide and over. Gate then had a chance from the edge of the box as Noblet struck a long shot from Rileys lay off. But Noblets shot was a narrowly wide of the top corner. Just a minute later and Gate had a chance again. The keeper spilling the Freekick and Mark Buchan was there to prod towards goal. His toe poke fell into the path of Ric Seear, but he was flagged offside. Gate certainly weren't without chances of their own in the second half and had another 10 minutes later. Good work from Dawson to run across the defence

SATRUDAY 21ST JANAUARY 2017

Squires Gate made a lively start to the game winning an early Freekick after three minutes but Matt Mahoneys ball into the box was too close to the keeper who easily collected. Gate striker Brett Dawson would then almost open the scoring on seven minutes. He weaved his way through the Maine Road defence and shot from outside the box. That shot took a bobble and almost found its way into the bottom corner only for the Maine Road keeper to tip it around the post. Maine Road would then get a toe to the ball before Ben Seear could shoot at the front post. It was from the corner that Gate would win a penalty. The ball finding its way out to Richards at the corner of the box, he charged inside and at the third hack of his feet was bought down for a penalty. Brett Dawson would step up to convert the penalty right into the top corner. The visitors didn't really look to threaten Gate going forward and were arguing amongst themselves up until the 34th minute when the game turned. A weak back pass was played short to keeper Griffiths, he tried to reach the ball but couldn't. That allowed Connor Hughes to nip to the ball and follow it into the net. Maine Road would be buoyed by their equaliser and stepped up a gear finding the net for a second time just before half time. A mistake in defence for Gate allowed Jamie Roe to tap in at the front post after his good work. The second half was a frustrating one for Gate who tried and tried to find an equaliser but just couldn't make the break through. They saw appeals for a penalty turned away in the 56th minute when a shot from outside the area was blocked by a hand in the area. Gate had corner after corner but just couldn't capitalise from any of them. First a corner fell to Paul Carroll on the edge of the box but his speculative effort was volleyed wide of the post. Brett Dawson then had a chance when he was sent right through the middle of the Maine Road defence but he was second to the ball with the visiting keeping rushing out and clearing. Gate made a couple of changes in search of another goal but even the subs couldn't help break down Maine Road. It was the manager who had the best chance late into the game after he bought himself on. Fellow sub Joe Noblets corner in was glanced over by the manager.

RUNCORN LINNETS O’BRIEN 21, SHANLEY 53,POTTER 82 85 JONES 90

Saturday 7th April 2018/ Stadium /Attendance: 245 Linnets got the game underway and the football that followed was consistently decent from both sides. The home team had to deal with a Linnets team dominant in possession and able to attack from literally all angles. In the sixth minute, a good Linnets move teed up Michael Simpson for a shot from the edge of the box that he pulled wide of Ryan Livesey's right hand post. Soon after, Shanley headed over from close range following more Linnets possession. Adam Jones, through on the 'keeper knocked the ball too close to him and a good 12th-minute opportunity had come to nought. Immediately the ball went up the other end for Maine Road's best chance. Jack Coop had an effort blocked that fell to Ben Davison, who looked like he had scored - only for Dylan Forth to pull off a miraculous save, scooping the ball away to a defender (and a collective gasp from the crowd). Danny O'Brien had a free-kick well dealt with by the Maine Road defence. Then a good run from Shanley led to a shot that was blocked. In the 17th minute, we got the first corner taken by Louis Corrigan. Livesey's punch didn't clear the box but the defence smuggled the ball away. It was only a brief stay though. Corrigan's next cross was met by a Maine Road defender, only after fouling Adam Jones. The referee didn't hesitate in blowing for a penalty. Danny O'Brien calmly stroked in his ninth pen of the season, putting Linnets a deserved goal to the good. The Maine Road players felt somewhat aggrieved by the penalty decision and they got involved in some heated conversations with the officials. It is noteworthy that Neil Chappell, often the pantomime villain in his past encounters with Linnets, was hard at work in midfield… hard but fair and that was a reflection of the game in general. The rest of the first half saw the teams cancel each other out. The last chance of the half was from a free-kick conceded by Louis Edwards, bringing Mark Houghton down in full flow. Danny O'Brien fired in a great cross, headed over by Matt Atherton. Ellison brought Stuart Wellstead on for Houghton at half time. The second half started in a similar vein to the end of the first. An outswinging cross from Corrigan, too close to Livesey, was the nearest we got to a chance in the initial exchanges. In the 53rd minute, the LSU were rewarded for their relentless vocal support and what a reward. Kyle Hamid, back to his best and bossing the midfield, set off on a run that looked like it might be broken by his own team mates. But no, they helped him find space on the left and he found the perfect ball for an overlapping Paul Shanley, who confidently finished despite the best efforts of the Maine Road keeper, Livesey. Two-nil felt a little better for the dominance that the away team 01 RYAN LIVESEY 01 DYLAN FORTH had demonstrated. Two minutes later, Hamid (again in control) 02 RYAN LYONS O2 LOUIS CORRIGAN played in Kris Holt, who after a clever sidestep pulled a shot just 03 EWAN ROLFE 03 MATTHEW ATHERTON wide. Within a few minutes, great work from Shanley gave Jones a good chance inside the box, but he put his shot well over the 04 JONATHAN MASON 04 JAMES MOORE bar. A busy Michael Simpson shot over after 61 minutes. This was 05 LOUIS EDWARDS 05 DANIEL O’BRRIEN shortly followed by a one on one chance for Maine Road number 9 Coop, but the Linnets defence held their line well and the assis06 NEIL CHAPPELL 06 MICHAEL SIMPSON tant referee flagged for offside. Then Ben Davison had another 07 JAMIE ROE 07 KRISTIAN HOLT chance for Maine Road, shooting over from the edge of the box. 08 FINN THOMPSON 08 KYLE HAMID There were certainly plenty of chances in the game and Linnets spurned a couple more soon after that. Kris Holt pulled up in the 09 JACK COOP 09 MARK HOUGHTON 72nd minute and, after a couple of minutes treatment, he was 10 BEN DAVISON 10 PAUL SHANLEY replaced by Freddie Potter. Freddie was quickly involved in the action, having been fouled in back play while Wellstead and 11 JAMES ORMROD 11 ADAM JONES Jones were foiled by the Maine Road defence. Then, in the 79th minute and after some desperate Maine Road defending that 12 PAUL SOCHA 12 KIERAN NOLAN included a foul on Wellstead, the ball fell to the Wizard who shot through a crowd of bodies for a great goal. Maine Road then had 14 JACK BLUNDELL 14 FREDDIE POTTER a chance snuffed out by a scrambling Linnets defence. That was 15 JACK LANGFORD 15 STUART WELLSTEAD only a brief respite for the Maine Road back line as Kyle Hamid spread the ball wide right for Jones to play in Wellstead, whose 16 BAILEY WHALLEY 16 AARON MORRIS shot was palmed out only to Potter, who coolly slotted home his 17 MITCHELL BRYANT second and Linnets' fourth.

MACTH PREVIEW WITH MARK ASHMORE

Gate hopefully return to action this weekend after Tuesday night's Macron Cup game against Burscough was called off. This game could also be in doubt due to the heavy amount of rain that has fallen over the past couple of days. Keep an eye out on our website and social Media pages for news on the game.

Last time out: Gate's last game saw us lose our unbeaten run with a heavy 5-0 loss to Barnoldswick on Saturday. Gate made a nightmare start to the afternoon going behind after just three minutes. Mark Threlfall left in too much space to easily fire past Fletcher. Not long after the ten minute mark, the homeside would extend their lead with Zac Dale left in too much space again to fire in. The second half saw Barnoldswick extend their lead without any reply from Gate. Two goals in a five minute spell in the sixtieth minute made it 4-0 to the home side courtesy of Andrew Hill and Matthew Cavanagh. Experienced striker Aaron Hollindrake then rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute when he turned and shot on the penalty spot.

The Away Team: Maine Road come into this game in 21st place having not won any of their last six games. This season they've won four of their seventeen games, losing thirteen and drawing no games. Maine Road come into this game after a 4-0 loss against promotion chasing Bootle on Saturday. So far this month the form table for Maine Road looks like LLLLLL placing them 22nd in the form table. Those losses have come against Widnes, West Didsbury, Ashton Athletic, Congleton Town, Burscough and Bootle.

The Last Time We Met: In a tighter encounter than in the reverse fixture which ended 6-1 to Maine Road, this one at The Brian Addison Stadium was alot closer. Brett Dawson opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 21 minutes, before the visitors would fire back with two quick fire goals before half time. First Connor Hughes struck on 38 minutes before Jamie Roe doubled the visitors lead and won the game for them three minutes before half time. Gate: Griffiths, Carroll, Higham, Hall, Rossall, Alexander, Richards, Mahoney, Dawson, Bamba, B.Seear. Subs: Noblet, Moxon, Penswick.

Head to Head: The two sides have met 28 times with Maine Road winning 11 of those encounters. Gate have won 10 whilst 7 of the games ended in draws.

THIS WEEK IN FOOTBALL HISTORY We take a look back at the history of football as it happens week by week.

RONALO ROLLS TOP 100

2012

On 24 March 2012, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th La Liga goal, hitting that milestone faster than any other player in club history. Ronaldo was in his third La Liga season, having joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in a July 2009 deal worth £80 million. He scored 26 league goals that first season, then 40 in the next. Despite that prolific output, however, Real Madrid finished as runners-up to Barcelona both seasons. He got off to another productive start in 2011-12, with 33 goals in Madrid's first twenty-eight league games to bring his overall tally to 99 while the club secured their spot at the top of the table. For their next match, Madrid hosted Real Sociedad at the Bernabéu and took the lead with a sixth-minute goal from striker Gonzalo Higuaín. Then in the 32nd minute, Ronaldo received the ball on the left and raced past the defense, squared up against the keeper, and sent a right-footed shot just inside the far post. It his 100th La Liga goal in just his 92nd game, beating the previous club record of Ferenc Puskás, who needed 105 games to get to that mark. But it fell just short of the overall record, set by Real Oviedo's Isidro Lángara, who did it in 90 games. Ronaldo went on to score a second as Madrid won 5-1, then proceeded to take the league title.

A DAY IN THE DARK OF DRESDEN

1991

On 20 March 1991, a European Cup quarterfinal between Red Star Belgrade and Dynamo Dresden was halted in the 75th minute due to rioting in the stands. It never resumed and went into the books as a 3-0 win for Red Star. Red Star won the first leg 3-0 in Belgrade two weeks earlier, so Dresden went into the second leg with a difficult task ahead of them. But they got a lift when the referee awarded them a handball penalty in the third minute, which striker Torsten Gütschow duly converted. The two sides exchanged several chances in the remainder of the first half, with Red Star getting the better looks. Only outstanding play from Dresden goalkeeper Thomas Köhler kept the hosts ahead at the break. Red Star finally scored in the second half, with winger Dejan Savićević evading four defenders and firing past a fifth from close range to draw the visitors level in the 51st minute. Twenty minutes later, they took the lead with a strike from forward Darko Pančev, who fired the ball between Köhler's legs and into the far corner of the net. That was too much for the home supporters--when the referee awarded Red Star a corner kick shortly afterward, the Dresden fans began hurling objects at both the Red Star kicker and the assistant referee. After a few futile attempts to calm the fans, referee Emilio Soriano Aladrén ordered the teams off the pitch and canceled the remainder of the game. Although Red Star were leading 2-1 at the time, UEFA later awarded them a 3-0 victory and banned Dresden from UEFA competitions for the following season. Red Star went on to beat Bayern Munich in the semifinals and then took the trophy with a win over Marseille on penalties in the final.

ROBINSON’S LONG-DISTANCE DELIVERY On 17 March 2007, Tottenham beat Watford with help from a rare goal from keeper Paul Robinson, who scored from 88 yards out. Spurs were the clear favorites, having risen to eighth in the table after three straight wins, while Watford were one spot off the bottom by virtue of goal differential. But, playing before a crowd of over 36,000 at White Hart Lane, Spurs took longer than expected to take control of the game, eventually taking a 1-0 lead with a 41st-minute goal from midfielder Jermaine Jenas. The game was still in the balance midway through the second half when Robinson delivered his unlikely goal. Taking a free kick about five yards outside his own box in the 63rd minute, he sent the ball over the entire Watford defense. It came down in front of keeper Ben Foster, but bounced over his head and into the goal. It was the first (and, to date, only) goal of his career. Tottenham stretched the lead to 3-0 with a goal from Hossam Ghaly in the 85th minute, but Watford cut the final margin to 3-1 with an 89th-minute strike from Darius Henderson.

NORTHWCIH VICS 0 SQUIRES GATE 5 Squires Gate extended their unbeaten run to six games hitting Northwich Victoria for five on Thursday night. Half time: Squires Gate 2-0 Northwich Victoria A mistake from Gate early into the second half let the visitors again in one on one, but again Gate keeper Ben Fletcher did well to deny them.

NWCFL NEWS As we head towards the business end of the season, at long last sunshine was evident at grounds across the league on Saturday, giving a more traditional April backdrop to important games at the top and bottom of both divisions. There was one cup tie in the fixture schedule, and the Macron Cup Semi Final first leg at the Ambitek Stadium ended goalless between Irlam and Burscough. In the Premier Division, six of the seven games ended in away wins, and one of those was at Mossie Park where Runcorn Linnets moved ten points clear at the top after a 2-0 win at Charnock Richard. Kristian Holt and Freddie Potter were on target for Linnets, who now need 11 points from their last six games to secure the league title. Nearest challengers Widnes didn't have a game, but Runcorn Town closed the gap between themselves and Widnes to four points with a 1-0 win over AFC Liverpool at the Pavilions, thanks to a goal in the 21st minute from Mark Reed. City of Liverpool moved to within three points of Hanley Town in fourth place with a 3-1 win at Barnoldswick Town, two goals from Anthony Brown and one from John Connolly earning victory for the Purps. First half strikes from Gary Pett and Ryan Charnley saw Squires Gate through to a 2-0 win at Ashton Athletic, and second half goals from Tom Bailey and Joseph Shaw earned West Didsbury & Chorlton their third away win in succession this time by 2-1 at Northwich Victoria. A ding-dong affair at the Ruby Civil Arena ended with Congleton Town turning a 3-2 half time deficit into a 4-3 win over Padiham, with two goals in two second half minutes from William Hasler-Cregg and Emini Adegbenro proving to be decisive. Maine Road remain deep in relegation trouble after going down 1-0 at home to Winsford United, with Blues player-manager Lee Duckworth scoring the only goal of the game. In Division One, Silsden AFC are back on top and continue to set the pace following Friday night's 2-1 win at Nelson, Aidan Kirby on target twice for the Cobbydalers. Litherland REMYCA remain right on Silsden's coat tails, two points behind in second place, after a 4-1 win at St Helens Town, although they had an early shock when Thomas Grimshaw gave Town a 5th minute lead. But two Colin McDonald goals before half time, a third from Josh Hamilton just before the hour and a Colin Quirk penalty in the last minute delivered the three points for Remy. Prestwich Heys moved into third place after an 8-1 home win over Stockport Town, with a John Main hat trick the highlight of a good afternoon for Heys. The big win moved them ahead of Whitchurch Alport, who lost 4-1 at New Mills in probably the most eye catching result of the afternoon, with Dennis Sheriff grabbing a first half hat trick for the Millers. Sandbach United are fifth but had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at AFC Blackpool, when Zac Hargreaves cancelled out Stuart Tulloch's opener for United. Alsager Town kept their place in the final play-off spot but left it late to secure a 2-1 win at Atherton LR. The Bullets were ahead at the break through a Jordan Conley effort, but Theodore Kidd levelled for LR with a penalty 17 minutes from time. But Taylor Attrell's 90th minute winner clinched victory for Alsager who would otherwise have been edged out of the play-off places by Cammell Laird 1907, who won 1-0 at Chadderton thanks to Joshua Maldon's goal 15 minutes from time. FC Oswestry Town dealt a potentially fatal blow to hopes that Holker Old Boys may have had of making the play-offs, sending them back on the long trip to Cumbria pointless after Sam Spridgeon, Joe Newton, Tom Rowlands and Brendan Price all got on the scoresheet in Town's 4-0 win. However, another club who made a long journey had better luck, with a goal in each half from Joshua Tune earning Abbey Hulton United a 2-1 win at Carlisle City. A hat trick from Daniel Needham earned Eccleshall a 3-2 win over Bacup Borough at Pershall Park, a result that means Borough are now third bottom and just three points ahead of Daisy Hill, who moved off bottom place thanks to a Michael Gervin goal seeing them to a 1-0 win over Cheadle Town at New Sirs.
