Saturday 18th August 2018//The Brian Addison Stadium // Attendance: 81 Congleton Town had won their first three games of the season, keeping clean sheets in all three games so faced a tough test for Gate.Like the visitors, Gate were in good from themselves winning two and draw their other opening game to start the season. Terry Green welcomed back Dan Gray back into the side with Gate's only change from last Saturday's FA Cup win. He came in in place of Jordan Salthouse who dropped to the bench, joined by new signings Ben Reader and Bradley Jones who were in line for their first starts from the bench. Gate's first chance of the game came when Gary Pett intercepted a short goal kick from Congleton, but before Gate could capitalise, the move broke down and the visitors cleared the ball. The opening exchanges saw the visitors on top as they looked to make it four wins from four games. They had claims for a penalty turned down after 12 minutes after a bright start. Gate started to come into the game 15 minutes in and went close through Ryan Riley. He took aim from outside the box and looked to curl the ball into the top corner but just couldn't find the target. Gary Pett was the next to take aim when he struck a freekick from just outside the box, unfortunately for Gate his strike was blocked by the wall. Congleton had the chance to take the lead after 28 minutes when they were awarded a penalty. Emini Adegbenro stepped up to take the spot kick but Gate keeper Ben Fletcher guessed the right way saving the penalty. He then reacted quickest to clear Dan Cope's shot from the rebound. Gate themselves went close through Dan Gray who was inches away from scoring his first goal for the club. He burst into the box and took aim but saw his shot cannon off the crossbar, just inches from hitting the back of the net.

Gate ended the first half the stronger of the two sides and had a penalty of their own awarded two minutes before half time, Brett Dawson fouled at the back post from a corner gave the referee no choice but to award it. Gary Pett stepped up looking to add to his two goals he's already scored this season, but uncharacteristically, Pett fired the spot kick well over to keep the game level. Half time: Squires Gate 0-0 Congleton Town Gate took their improved performance into the second half and could have scored in the first minute. Joe Booth played the ball out to Ryan Riley who beat his man and squared the ball to Brett Dawson but a Congleton player nipped in and took the ball from Dawson before he could shoot. Dean Ing then went close with a header from a corner three minutes later but he couldn't keep the ball down. Gary Pett then came close with a golden chance on 57 minutes when he was sent through on goal one on one, he couldn't keep his composure though and fired over. Gate again could have opened the scoring on 63 minutes but just couldn't find the target. Dan Gray drove a low ball into the box but Dean Ing just couldn't flick the ball on target. Congleton eventually made the break through with the only goal of the game after 80 minutes. Ben Fletcher saving the first shot before John Main followed up to volley in the rebound. Although Gate tried late into the game to salvage a draw, they just couldn't convert several chances. Even keeper Ben Fletcher came up in the last couple of minutes but his presence in the box was to no avail.

Tuesday 21st August 2018//Brocstedes Park // Attendance:71 Squires Gate got back to winning ways on Tuesday night with a 1-0 away win at Ashton Athletic. Dean Ing scored the only goal on the night in a tight, scrappy game at Brocstedes Parfor Andy Clarkson’s side. Gate’s first chance of the game came after 7 minutes when Dean Ing looked to set Brett Dawson in on goal but the home keeper was quick off his line to collect the ball. Ben Reader was tackled after 12 minutes allowing Ashton to break but striker Cover eventually fired over. Gate thought they’d opened the scoring after 28 minutes but it was flagged offside. Ryan Riley’s shot was deflected falling to Ric Seear but he was offside. Clarkson’s side did eventually open the scoring with what turned out to be the only goal of the game. Ashton failed to clear the ball on several occasions. It fell to Dean Ing who kept his composure and fired past the keeper.

HALF TIME: Ashton 0-1 Squires Gate

Gate had an early chance as the game restarted in the second half. A long ball forward caught out the defender who slipped and Seear ran onto the ball but chipped the ball over the bar. Ashton themselves had chance but resorted to shots from outside the box, which didn’t test Gate. Gate went close again when Ben Fletcher found Gary Pett from a goal kick, he flicked the ball onto Seear but he ran just too soon and was flagged offside. Gate could have wrapped up the game with a couple of minutes left of the game. Joey Mullen sent in a teasing ball across the six yard box where Dean Ing was arriving late but he couldn’t meet the ball. Similarly Ashton sent in an equally good ball down the other end but they could turn the ball in.

In a new feature we team up with the Non-league paper editor Matt Badcock who is going a little bit off a column each week to place into our programme so all you non-league fan can found out at happen all across the non-league pyramid There’s no place like home.” For many of us, our local grounds are like a second home; they bring comfort and a familiarity, and if you’re lucky a comfy seat with a choice of cold or hot beverage. Which is a nice thought for me to imagine when I travel on the train to NLP towers on an uncomfortable chair and without the option of a beverage. Last weekend on the journey to the office the train was filled with West Ham United fans on their way to the top flight match against Bournemouth. By chance, I got speaking to a chap sat opposite who had an Irons jacket on and he began talking about how he is a season ticket holder at West Ham but also goes to watch Dagenham & Redbridge ‘four or five times a season’. Two teams with a proud tradition and standing in their community, but a case of David and Goliath. “The bigger they are the harder they fall.” Well, not exactly in this case. Ever since the city of London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics I have followed the story of what the government and the Greater London Authority planned to do with the stadium in Stratford long after Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis had graced it. After the 16 days of sporting excellence were showcased to the world, focus switched to whether Jeremy Hunt, sport minister at the time, and Mayor Boris Johnson could get the right deal for the taxpayer by finding a tenant who would prevent the stadium from turning into a defunct patch of overgrowth and stinging nettles. Could they do it? Absolutely not. As of a year ago, £783m of taxpayers’ money had been spent on the stadium with an annual bill of £20m invoiced for security and cleaning and a host of other services. So bad was the deal struck by the ground owners’ London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) with West Ham, they appealed against a granted Freedom of Information Act request to have the tenancy contract made public. This after it was known that West Ham would pay £2.5m-a-year in rent over a 99-year lease. Promotions followed for Hunt and Johnson, West Ham’s co-owners sold Upton Park after 110 years on Green Street, while the Daggers sold top goalscorer Oli Hawkins to Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee after relegation to the National League. Joined by fellow East Londoners Leyton Orient in dropping to the fifth tier, some fan groups have labelled the tenancy agreement as ‘state aid’. The sum of £2.5m a small drop in the Premier League club’s well of riches. I brought this up with the man on the train who said he and a lot of other supporters had failed to analyse what their board was selling them with the move. I asked him whether it must be painful watching football in a stadium built for athletic purposes when Upton Park offered such a good atmosphere. So why not swap his season ticket in 2019 for one at the Daggers? "They need to start winning games if they want to get more than 1,500 through the gate," he said. "Go where you feel at home, you're not a 400m hurdler are you?" I joked.

DIXON LAMBERT & LIAM SMITH Dixon Lambert And Liam Smith took over from long region of Steve Wilks back in early last season and done so well to keep in the division last season. This season they be hoping with more of the same but want more for the team in order to challenge for the title and they have make some changes and made a good start to the season.

HISTORY OF THE STORKS It might be hard to imagine today but in the immediate years following the establishment of Padiham Football Club in November 1878 the `Caldersiders` as they were then known were considered one of Lancashire`s soccer pioneers and one of the better Club sides in England. The Padiham Club were in at the birth of the Lancashire Football Associations Senior Cup competition in 1879, reached the third round proper of the F.A. Cup in season 1883 - 84 and beat Burnley F.C. 6-0, 7-0, 9-1 and 4-2 in their first four encounters. Gates of over 2,000 were not uncommon for the visits of teams like Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Burnley and other local rivals to Padiham F.C.`s ground which was originally situated on the banks of the River Calder at the end of Wyre Street in Padiham and initially leased from the Shuttleworth family of Gawthorpe Hall. At present the site is occupied by the Potterton Myson Limited Main Gas factory and nothing remains of the Clubs original ground which witnessed many encounters with Clubs that later achieved Football League status. In fact it was the setting up of the Football League and the ensuing loss of fixtures with the leading Clubs, as well as the legalisation of professionalism within football that ended Padiham`s initial decade of success. Being an ardent stalwart of the fight waged from Lancashire for the legalisation of professionalism in football, Padiham`s progressive outlook at the time ironically helped fashion the stranglehold football finance came to have on small town Clubs, in hindsight it condemned Padiham to an ongoing fight for survival. Unable to secure the services of players able to compete with the bigger surrounding towns and cities, gates dropped and as a result reduced income meant Padiham had to restrict its activities to playing in the Lancashire Combination Football League and at times the local minor leagues. The outbreak of World War One curtailed Padiham Football Club`s involvement in active football altogether at the end of the 1915 - 1916 season, and the loss of their ground during the War meant that Padiham Football Club lay dormant until after the end of World War Two when they were reformed. The rebirth of Padiham Football Club came about in 1949 with the opening of the `Arbories` Memorial Sports Ground in Padiham on August 20th 1949 when 1,777 spectators turned up to see the Club`s opening Lancashire Combination fixture of the 1949 - 50 football season. In 1982, Padiham Football Club became founder members of the North West Counties Football League, however in 1990 they left the league and joined the West Lancashire Football League where they played their football for ten seasons. Padiham returned to the North West Counties Football League for the 2000/2001 season, winning the Premier Division Title in 2012/13 to gain promotion to the Northern Premier League, where they spent two seasons before being relegated back to the North West Counties Football League for the 2015/16 season. Since 1999 the club has spent in the region of ÂŁ600,000 upgrading their ground.

Saturday 18th August 2018/ Ruby Civil Arena/Att:181/ HT: 1-1

It was very much a game of mistakes and misfortune for the red men with goals from Sean Griffiths and Simon Everall not enough to return to Shropshire with even a single point for their efforts. The game was evenly matched for most of the afternoon between two competitive sides who were a credit to their clubs. Padiham skipper Chris Turner shot narrowly wide from 25 yards for the first decent opportunity for the Storks. Alport looked to get Tim Sanders on the ball for much of the first half and good chances fell for Joe Howell and Alex Hughes. The home goalkeeper then pulled off a good save down to his left hand side from a Sanders free kick. It was however Padiham who struck first after Alport switched off from a corner and Turner drilled home from 10 yards. There was an instant reply from Alport though right on half time. After a Lee Pickerill free-kick the goalkeeper failed to keep hold of the ball and Griffiths was left with a simple finish into the empty goal. A fair reflection at half time and the second half proved just as competitive. Now going down the Padiham slope Alport looked to stamp their authority on the fixture. The Storks looked a huge threat when given space however and this led to an end to end entertaining game. Although Alport enjoyed a good share of possession and momentum they were soon to be undone following a penalty kick on 70 minutes. Darren Campion looked to shield the ball out for a goal kick when he was judged to have pulled down the Padiham striker. That man Turner finished well past Parton to gain his second goal of the afternoon. Much like in the first half the reaction was good from the visitors and the equaliser was instant. A Sanders corner found Howell who headed 01 NOSAKHARE AGHAYERE 01 DAVID PARTON back across goal where skipper Simon Everall glanced 02 ADAM JONES 02 NICHOLAS MARLEY a header into the bottom corner to bring the scoreline 03 JACK TINNING 03 LEE PICKERILL level. At this point it looked like Alport would now go 04 BENJAMIN HOSKIN 04 JOSEPH HOWELL on to push for all 3 points with 15 minutes left. Alport 05 JAMES DEAN 05 JOSEPH MINSHALL were disallowed that third goal on 80 minutes when 06 ALAN ZUQOLLI 06 DARREN CAMPION Everall headed a Nick Marley cross into the corner fol07 DANIEL WILKINS 07 TIMOTHY SANDERS lowing a mistake from the home goalkeeper but he 08 CHRISTPOHER TURNER 08 SEAN GRIFFITHS was somehow judged to be offside. The game re09 LEE KNIGHT 09 SIMON EVERALL mained very open but the final mistake came with 10 THOMAS HULME 10 ALEX HUGHES five minutes on the clock. A Padiham midfielder was 11 LIAM O’NEILL 11 MATTHEW ASHBROOK allowed too much time to turn, his shot although not powerful bobbled in front of Parton who could only 12 JACK HARGREAVES spill the effort where the Storks no.9 followed in to 12 ARRON JONES sneak the ball past Parton at the near post. Into the 14 ADAM MORNING 14 NICHOLAS PORTER final moments and substitute Nick Porter was dis15 MILLENIC ALLI 15 DEAN TWIGG missed following a late challenge as the game finished 16 BENJAMIN FLETCHER 16 CALLUM O’CONNOE with the home side earning back to back league victo17 STEPHEN HALL 17 LUKE GODDARD ries.

VIEW FROM AWAY END

NICK HARBOUR

This Week we interviewed Padiham Fan Nick Harbour to found out about his time at Padiham. We asked him how long he has been involved with Padiham and what his favourite moment since he been there, we also found out his views on the Padiham team on what he seen so fair this season and about football in gernal. Firstly how long have you been at Padiham and what is your most favourite moment there?

Have you ever been to Gate before if so what was the score?

I’ve been watching on and off for a few years but became properly hooked last season. The title win in 2013 was probably my favourite moment.

I was here last season when we got robbed. The ref didn’t give a goal that was about a two foot over the line when Padiham were already 2-0 up! You knew what was going to happen then and you rescued a point.

What are your expectations for the season from what you have seen In your pre-season games and after first few game of the season? It’s a bit difficult to judge this early in the season as there was more or less a full squad overhaul during the summer. Early signs have been encouraging so far, we just need to eradicate some individual errors that are proving costly.

Do you think you can improve on your 17th place finished last season? Without a doubt. I expect a top half finish this time.

What stadium are you looking forward to this season? Funnily enough, this one was the one I was looking forward to. I’m not sure it’ll be that enjoyable trying to get away from Blackpool at 17:00 on a Bank Holiday Monday though.

Have you improve on squad from last season and who do you think will be a threat?

Have you ever been to Wembley old or new if so what is your most memorable moments there and what is the best game you seen? Again – I guess this one wasn’t meant to be in for this addition!

Who from gate do you think be a biggest threat for Padiham to handle? I seem to recall Gary Pett causing a few problems last season.

Looks like a few of your team have chipped in with a couple of goals each so far this season so I’d guess there’s various threats from all over the pitch.

Which some new teams coming up from the First division what ground are looking forward to visit and what team do you think will be a good challenge in the league this year?

Again, it’s a bit hard to tell yet. The players who have been brought in seem to have a desire that perhaps a few seemed to lack towards the end of last season. Chris Turner has returned and looks a threat from midfield, he’s scored three in his first two games.

I’m going to say Silsden as the one I’m looking forward to – purely based on the fact that’s in March and the other two are in the middle of January! I saw Whitchurch last week and they didn’t look great. We play Silsden tonight (Wednesday at time of writing) and I expect they’ll be decent if they’ve kept last seasons’ squad together. 100 points was very impressive.

With FA Cup on Saturday what is favoiute fa cup game you have been too and do you think Padiham will get fair in this season?

With linnets getting promoted finally last year which team do you think will be up there this season challenge for the title?

I assume this was one that crept in from last week – Padiham were dumped out at Liversedge 5-2!

Runcorn Town have got off to a flyer haven’t they? Mind you, I think they won their first 11 or something last season and blew it. I’m going to go for City of Liverpool for the title.

Finally prediction for today's game? Squires Gate 1-2 Padiham

ate first chance game after 10 minutes. Midfielder Nick Greenall picked the ball up on the edge of the box, but his shot was fired over. The visitors could have opened the scoring and though they had after two minutes. They saw their shot saved by Ben Fletcher twice, the second on the line. The opening goal was unlucky not to come for Gate after 13 minutes. Instead it came for the visitors. After Tarren Moxon played in a teasing ball into the box the visitors cleared. They then opened the scoring down the other end. Kane Hickman finding himself in space from 25 yards out to fire into the bottom corner. Gate looked to get back into the game straight after the goal and almost did. Gal Pett played a great ball into the path of Jack Williams, but the striker caught the ball with too much power and fired over the bar. The visitors extended their lead on 26 minutes through a bullet header. A cross into the box after a Padiham Corner was cleared, found the head of defender Luke Holden, who headed in past Fletcher.

HALF TIME: Squires Gate 0-2 Padiham It was Gate that made a promising start to the second half, going close after 10 minutes. After Tarren Moxon was fouled, Gal Pett went close with a freekick. Gate would eventually grab a goal back after increasing pressure in the 77th minute. Gary Pett stepping up from the spot to fire the penalty into the bottom corner to give Gate hope. That hope spurred Gate on to look like a much different team. First Tarren Moxon came close when he couldn’t stretch far enough to reach Gal Pett’s deep cross. Then Danny Penswick’s freekick found Pett at the back post, but his stab at the ball was saved by the keeper. Gate would get the deserved goal their second half performance deserved late on in the 88th minute. Tarren Moxon took the ball in his stride to burst past the defender, before firing low last the keeper to equalise for Gate! Moxon then came close again late on to winning it for Gate, unluckily for Gate, his shot was saved. Gate keeper Ben Fletcher then had to be alert in the 93rd minute to make a point blank save to secure the draw for Gate.

In a new feature we team up with the Non-league paper editor Matt Badcock who is going a little bit off a column each week to place into our programme so all you non-league fan can found out at happen all across the non-league pyramid

A couple of weeks ago I saw a video that reminded me of why Non-League football increasingly appeals to so many people. The first half of the footage sees Liverpool’s squad, and manager Jurgen Klopp, boarding their team coach in 2017 doing their best to ignore supporters standing only yards away with their arms outstretched clutching replica shirts for the players to sign. Now, before this becomes an attack on Liverpool, it is worth nothing that this is largely the same squad and manager who travelled to relegated Chester in pre-season, and respected their opponents by fielding an XI in each in half that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a Premier League fixture. The match attracted a crowd of over 4000, securing vital funds for the National League side. Klopp has done the same in recent seasons with visits to Tranmere. The video also conveniently cuts short before Daniel Sturridge and James Milner stop for fans – most of the 1.1 million people who saw this video won’t have known these facts, although that is no excuse for the other Reds player and their manager. In the second half of the video, there is a striking contrast. At Preston station, on the way back from their opening day defeat at AFC Fylde, Bromley players secured the National League club a supporter for life. James, who looks no older than five or six, decked out in Bromley shirt, is stood on the pavement being introduced to every Ravens player with a handshake by captain Jack Holland as they step off the team coach. James’ face as each of his heroes greets him is a picture. The video lasts for just 28 seconds but that is all takes to create a lifelong memory. It was a timely reminder as the season started of the inclusivity of Non-League football – the reason myself and many others watch this level. It’s being able to chat to your team’s star striker before, and even during, the warm-up or afterwards in the club bar. It’s being able to ask the manager over a pint why the two wingers swap sides. It’s doing ‘your bit’ for your club to help the cogs turning. So well done to Bromley and Non-League for keeping things real. Football is just a game but let’s keep the experience fun, inclusive and enjoyable.

LAST TIME GATE WAS HERE BARNOLDSWICK TOWN 5 GATE 0 The homeside took the lead after just three minutes, catching Gate off guard. A looped ball into the box found the prolific Mark Threllfall unmarked, he struck the ball past Ben Fletcher to give the homeside the lead. Gate looked to get themselves on the scoresheet early on but struggled with the final ball. First Tarren Moxon got into a good position but his pull back to the front post couldn’t find Tyler Atack. Then Jack Williams chipped a lovely ball into Atack again but his weak shot was collected by the keeper. Barnoldswick would grab their second goal after just ten minutes. Joel Melia allowed too much space on the left to pick out Zac Dale who slotted the ball past Fletcher. The homeside could have extended their lead in the 17th minute through some lapse defending again from Gate. The Barnoldswick right Liam Blades was allowed too much room to come forward and find the feet of Mark Threllfall, but he shot wide. Gates last chance of the first half came from Lewis Masters. The defender could have scored his first for the club when the ball fell to him from a corner, but he stabbed it straight at the keeper. The first chance of the second half fell to Gate after four minutes. A short corner was taken to Ryan Charnley, but the wingers cross was collected by the keeper. Like several games this season, Gate had Ben Fletcher to thank on 3 minutes when he pulled off a crucial save. Nice football from the homeside but they couldn't beat Gate's number one from inside the six yard box. The next goal in this game was the most important and it could have come for Gate on 55 minutes. A freekick to Gate was flicked onto Tarren Moxon at the back post, but his shot flew over the bar. It would be the homeside who would strike next for that all important goal. Gate failed to clear the ball several times before Andrew Hill fired in inside the box. As quick as the first goal came, the homeside would get a second. Gate again failing to clear the ball allowing Matthew Cavanagh to fire in. The final goal for the homeside came on 76 minutes with the man who had opened the scoring, Mark Threlfall, rounding off the scoring. He was left unmarked on the penalty spot and allowed to turn and shoot past Ben Fletcher for the homesides fifth goal

AROUND THE LEAGUE Saturday's fixture list delivered entertainment a-plenty, with just two out of 30 games failing to produce more than one goal, five teams scoring five goals and eight teams scoring four goals across all three divisions. The Premier Division is headed by Runcorn Town on goal difference from Congleton Town, with both maintaining their 100% league records. A Mark Reed hat trick and two from Ste Lewis delivered a 5-0 win at home for Runcorn Town against West Didsbury & Chorlton, and a John Main goal 11 minutes from time at Squires Gate secured a 1-0 win for Congleton Town. Charnock Richard and City of Liverpool are two points behind the top two, with Charnock's 4-1 win at home to Hanley Town being rounded off by the inevitable goal from captain Carl Grimshaw. although it took a John Magrath penalty 15 minutes from time to rescue a point for the Purps in a 2-2 draw at home to Irlam. Northwich Victoria rounded off a good week after their midweek cup win over Widnes in the FA Cup with a 4-1 win at home in another Cheshire derby, this time against Winsford United. Joel Brownhill struck twice for Vics, who are on six points alongside Padiham, for whom Lee Knight struck an 86th minute winner to earn the Storks a 3-2 home win over Whitchurch Alport. Another side that enjoyed a good midweek FA Cup win were Barnoldswick Town, and it's now seven goals in two games for Barlick, although they had to rely on an equaliser from Shaun Airey nine minutes from time to rescue a point from a 3-3 draw at Litherland REMYCA. First half goals from Niall Sultan and Lee Spires saw Silsden to a 2-0 win over Ashton Athletic, their first home win of the season at the third attempt, and a penalty from Scott McGowan in the 53rd minute ensured 1874 Northwich picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 home draw against Abbey Hey. Burscough remain at the bottom of the table without a point after goals from Elliott Nevitt, Anthony Hickey and a Charlie Kelly penalty earned Bootle a 3-0 win at Victoria Park.

First Division North is headed by Avro on goal difference ahead of Carlisle City who both won their respective games. A first minute goal from Jake Pollard set Avro on the way to a 4-1 win at Daisy Hill, while it took a goal from Daniel Greenslade six minutes from time to seal a 2-1 win for Carlisle City over Bacup Borough. Garstang remain in third place although their 100% record was ended at Lower Breck, with two Mason Nevitt goals helping the home side to a 5-1 win. Garstang are now joined on nine points by Steeton, who celebrated their first home fixture at Cougar Park with a 1-0 win over AFC Blackpool, thanks to a 4th minute goal from Andrew Briggs.St Helens Town dropped a couple of places in the table after being held to a 2-2 draw at home to AFC Darwen, Liam Diggle scoring both Town goals, and Longridge Town ended Prestwich Heys' 100 record with a 5-1 win over Heys at the MRG, with two first half goals from Paul Turner setting them on the road to victory. The award for comeback of the day in the division must go to AFC Liverpool, who were 3-1 down at half time at Ashton Town, but second half goals from James McGrane, James Howell and a stoppage time winner from the penalty spot by Rhys Hardacre turned the half time adversity into a full time 4-3 win. Nelson also scored four times, this time without reply at Holker Old Boys, with Ryan Salmon on target twice twice and the remaining two games in the division ended in 2-2 draws. Nathan Battersby's 90th minute equaliser rescued a point for Atherton LR against Chadderton, and two goals from Emmerson Bradshaw earned Shelley a 2-2 draw at home to Cleator Moor Celtic after being two down at half time. There's a three way tie at the top of First Division South, with New Mills in pole position ahead of Cheadle Heath Nomads and bbey Hulton United, who all won their respective games. The Millers won 4-1 at Maine Road, Stephen Kirby and Kayle Power both grabbed doubles in Nomads 5-2 home win over Vauxhall Motors, and second half goals from Kieran Lazenby, Kris Parsons and a 90th minute strike from Angelo Errico earned Abbey Hulton United a last gasp 3-2 win after a terrific comeback at Cammell Laird 1907. FC Oswestry Town sit in fourth place after a 4-3 home win over Alsager Town, one point ahead of Rylands, who knocked Wythenshawe Town off the top with a 3-0 win in their first home game of the season. Rylands and Town are two of six teams on six points, and the other four all picked up wins. Bradley Carr and Louis Downs both scored twice in Eccleshall's 5-2 win over Barnton, four first half goals without reply set Wythenshawe Amateurs on the way to a 4-0 win at Ellesmere Rangers, an 89th minute winner from Tawanda Melusi meant St Martins picked up their first away win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Stockport Town , and Sandbach United continued their recent good form with a 3-0 home win over Stone Dominoes. In the other game, a double from Cheadle Town's Rhys Clooney put his side two up after half an hour at Stone Old Alleynians, but goals Jack Tomlinson and Will Bailey salvaged a 2-2 draw for the home side.
