It had been more than ten years since Jake and I traveled to the Pacific Northwest and I had never seen Washington's San Juan Islands nor British Columbia's Sunshine Coast. When we fortuitously became aware of On Island Time, a book about the area by Chandler O'Leary, we decided to return for two weeks. We were concerned about the region's variable
weather but were rewarded with sunny days and mild temperatures for al but the very end of our trip. We visited six
islands and took nine ferry rides before driving around the Olympic peninsula and Mount Rainier, becoming reacquainted with the scenic beauty of this remarkable area.
