About Our Brokerage

SHAHEEN, RUTH, MARTIN & FONVILLE

Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville was founded by four Managing Brokers, Scott Shaheen, Scott Ruth, John Martin, and Mahood Fonville, that wanted to make a difference and get back to the basics of selling local Real Estate. Their focus was on staying relevant and being ahead of the power curve when it comes to technology, marketing, and training in the Residential Real Estate Arena. "We want our agents to be the best when it comes to representing our clients and working with other Brokers, and three words that best describe our team are Supportive, Ethical, & Professional. " as stated by John Martin. When asked why he wanted to start his own company Scott Shaheen said, “We wanted to create a culture and brand that was going to be local! Everything is going back to the roots and being local and home grown”

The company has coverage in the Greater Richmond or Central Virginia, Williamsburg, Hampton Roads, and the Wintergreen markets. To date we have over 180 experienced agents and are selectively growing each day. The firm also has a Luxury component that specializes in Estates, Higher-End and Historic Homes, Land, and Waterfront properties.

When asked what makes your company different than other Real Estate Firms, Scott Ruth said, "The agents themselves in our office are the best trained in the industry. Having 4 brokers that are available daily with a combined 80 years of experience is unique and not something you will find in another firm. By being practicing broker/owners, we can relate firsthand to the needs of agents, problem solving, and what is needed to help agents be successful."

When asked about the company’s core values, Mahood Fonville said, "I believe the core value of Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville is “The Golden Rule” of life and to treat others as you would like to be treated. In addition, and equally important, is having a balance in your life with your Faith, Family, and Work. Without a balance you will not be happy or successful personally or professionally." Lastly, as stated by Scott Ruth, “We couldn’t be happier with our move and the response from the community has been amazing!”

Visit our site at www.SRMFRE.com for information about each of the owners, agents, the firm, and our properties.

Sample of Premier Williamsburg Communities

Kingsmill on The James (Gated with Golf, Tennis, Resort, Pools, Marina)

Kingsmill on the James is a gated residential and resort community, and one of the Nation’s first master-planned golf communities. Located on 2,900 acres of green hills and forests stretching for three miles along the banks of the James River, it offers a wide variety of home styles in stunning natural settings. Kingsmill is an active community that appeals to all ages, from young families to retirees, with amenities that include outdoor pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, and walking/hiking trails.

In addition to its expansive residential areas, Kingsmill encompasses the separate, 400-room Kingsmill Resort & Spa. Kingsmill residents have the option of becoming resort members in order to enjoy luxury extras such as world-class golf courses, a full-service marina, restaurants, tennis club, and much more.

Kingsmill is located less than three miles from historic Colonial Williamsburg and The College of William and Mary. In 2016, Kingsmill was named a “Best of the Best” College Town Community by ideal-LIVING magazine.

Ford’s Colony (Gated with Golf, Tennis, Pools)

This 3,000 acre gated golf community offers a superior selection of home styles and neighborhoods, a complete range of country club amenities, the privacy you desire and the Ford’s Colony reputation for excellence in everything they do.

Best of all, you can get involved right in your own backyard. The Ford’s Colony activities committee, directed by the homeowners, provides residents the opportunity to meet their neighbors and participate in a wide variety of activities. Currently, there are over 60+ organized activities with more being added all the time.

There is a full range of lifestyle options including custom homes set along one of the community’s three superb golf courses, lake view settings, and gorgeous nature preserve locations. The custom homes in Ford’s Colony are rich in architectural tradition, with designs reflecting the Greek revival, Georgian, Federal and Colonial styles.

Governor’s Land (Country Club, Private Golf, Tennis, Pool, Marina)

An award-winning golf course, two pools, a deep water harbor marina, tennis courts, and a clubhouse hopping with social activities this is Governor’s Land at Two Rivers. Yet, so is this: miles of private trails for quiet walks through the woods and marshlands, park benches placed for optimum viewing of nesting eagles tending their young, and a sand beach along the James River that’s perfect for picnics and bonfires.

The community’s myriad recreational offerings include miles of walking and bike trails, a favorite with the Fitzgeralds, who can hop on the Virginia Capital Trail from just outside the Governor’s Land entrance. The 18-hole, Two Rivers Country Club golf course was designed by three-time Golf Architect of the Year Tom Fazio, and Golf Digest has twice named it one of the Top 10 courses in Virginia. (It encompasses tidal marshlands, crystalline lakes, woodlands, and 1,000 yards of riverfront.) As Williamsburg’s only member-owned golf club, it offers yearround clinics and tournaments for all ages and levels of golfers.

Note: Country Club Membership is mandatory in Governor’s Land

Colonial Heritage (Over 55)

Colonial Heritage is a gated 55+ community in Williamsburg, Virginia. This community features 1,800 single-family and attached homes and multiple amenities, including a state-of-the-art fitness center and a spacious clubhouse. New Town

The New Town community in James City County/ Williamsburg, VA offers a unique combination of shops, entertainment, a vibrant office environment and a plethora of housing options to appeal to all segments of the population. Forget what you know about shopping in suburbia. You won’t find the endless sea of strip malls and parking lots in New Town, Williamsburg, VA. What you will find is a return of what has long been missing from our daily lives…what you want, where you want it.

At New Town you can drop off the kids to their dance class or daycare, walk to the corner for coffee, go to the bakery, grab some flowers from the florist, go to the dentist, the bank, the doctor, work out at the gym, go to your attorney’s office, see a movie, browse Barnes and Noble, shop for groceries, get some other errands done, without ever getting in the car.

What’s even better is that you can do it all in walking distance from your home. The retail is aimed at the needs of those that live here and is located with a keen eye on convenience. Whether it’s a salon, the groceries, or the gym, all are available in a way that makes life easier for you. What could be a better commute than no commute at all? Come to work, play, relax and learn in our vibrant and growing community!

The Vineyards at Jockey’s Neck

The Vineyards at Jockey’s Neck is set within view of the James River in James City County Virginia and just 4 miles from the restored area of Colonial Williamsburg. The community was conceived in 1989. Homesites for just 99 homes were planned on 224 acres of tranquil land adjacent to the acclaimed Williamsburg Winery.

Among the first things people notice when driving through The Vineyards are the large lots and lovely homes; the wide streets; and the gorgeous views of lakes, marshes, and vineyards. This, alone, makes The Vineyards a special place; but it is what you do not see that makes our neighborhood a great place to call home. A quiet residential setting located just outside of Colonial Williamsburg and near both historic Jamestown and Yorktown. This Wooded community is situated adjacent to the vineyards of the Williamsburg Winery . The Vineyards has its own upscale clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming pool , playground, walking trails, and two picturesque lakes.

The Seafood Restaurant has been voted by locals as “Best in Seafood Restaurant” and “Best Crabcake” year after year. We actively seek out the freshest in regional seafood and produce. Our proximity to the York and James Rivers, Chesapeake Bay, and offshore Atlantic waters provide a variety of fresh seasonal catches: shad roe, softshell crabs, sea trout, and striped bass in the spring; flounder, cobia, tuna, wahoo and bluefish in the summer; and rockfish, red fish and sea bass each fall. With the availability of local natural oysters and clams and the advent of aquaculture, we offer shellfish year-round. For those who wish not to eat seafood, equal care is taken with our steaks, chops and poultry entrees. Children are welcome with special menus and in spirit as well.
